Re: The more videos I watch, the less I seem to see the impact of the Infinity engine

been looking for this thread for how long now! i finally figured out how to search for threads so thats 1 positive that came out of this.

anyways this is what i really wanted to know and why i posted here.

how did a thread this great suddenly disappear for no apparent reason. and where are all the folks who were having discussions in this thread. seems like ever since the demo dropped alot of folks went M.I.A.

anyways i just find the derailment of this thread and the vanishing of all the folks that were participanting in it odd enough that i felt the need to ask about it.

im not tryna resurrect this thread, i could care less about the thread, as much as i just wanta know where did all the sim-commentators go on this site. i left the boards for about a wk and i come back and everyones vanished.

wassup??

As of now in the early release.... Played a ton of games. Some good points most not do much.

The IE DOES NOT effect any aspect of gameplay aside from after a play. Sure arms and legs get caught up but it happens at a very unrealistic amount that it's just annoying.

After just a few games, all the same canned animations we have had for years are still there and still repeat ALOT.
all in all it was better in the demo believe it or not but IE cod have waited another year, it certainly needs the extra time.

Re: The more videos I watch, the less I seem to see the impact of the Infinity engine

Just read the GameInformer review and found this...
Quote:
If there’s one glaring mistake that brings Madden 13 down, it’s the new Infinity physics engine. It sometimes makes good on its intent to bring more realistic physics, varied hits, and multiple contact points on the body, but the effects of player collision are inconsistent. You never know if you’re going to unexpectedly trip during inside runs, and the new physics system can make players look sloppy, with arms flailing, legs buckling, and players flopping on the ground. The tackles sometimes feel pre-determined, and suction blocking and tackling still occurs.
I had to re-read the first sentence three times because I thought it was a typo at first.

Right, you should definitely know when you are going to unexpectedly trip, maybe GI's editor was on vacation this month.

You shouldn't know this, BUT, what you should expect is for the RB to also help balance himself by putting his hand on the OL's back so that he does not trip. Another game had that. That's my big disappointment with the IE. You can't just say we are gonna let guys trip if they run into the linemen as if RB's do not put their hands out on the lineman's back to keep their balance. That's why IE is an incomplete idea. And I hate to say next year, but they better have the RB balancing himself by putting his hand on the lineman's back instead of just falling. It looks so amateur.

It is very noticeable when you play it as a matter of fact. I was playing my 3rd week game versus the Steelers and Mike Wallace caught a pass on a post and broke for the sidelines. I had subbed out Branch for Mitchell since Branch was fatigued. Mitchell took a bad angle on Wallace and laid out the defender chasing Wallace. It sucked because he scored a TD but its something you would never see on a previous Madden. It was a beautiful thing to see.
