Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head

Here are some of my major issues with no player editing.

1) The Victor Cruz effect. If there was no player editing last year, by the time December rolled around you'd be playing your franchise without Victor Cruz, someone who wasn't even on the initial roster that turned into one of the most explosive WRs in the league. Tell me if you're a Giants fan and you're playing your franchise and Victor Cruz comes out of nowhere to become one of the best players on the team that you wouldn't want to quit and start your entire franchise over again. Thats BS. Where as last year you could find a player with similar height/weight, and 1 year experience in the FA pool and change his name and attributes and voila! You have Victor Cruz and can continue your franchise.

2) Draft classes and fake UDFAs. I could live with fake draft classes and UDFAs if we could edit them. It wouldn't be fun to manually change all the names but it would still give my franchise some sort of realism. I'm a huge college football fan - so the thought of playing season 2 without Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, Logan Thomas, Tyler Bray, etc. Season 3 without Mike Dyer, Marcus Lattimore. Season 4 without Jadaveon Clowney, Kiehl Frazier, etc etc. I'm sorry EA but thats a deal breaker for me - yes.

3) In Madden 12, every week the roster update would come out I would go into player management in my franchise and push each players ratings up or down depending on how their rating changed in the weekly update. This way someone like Doug Baldwin who was a 50 OVR or something like that on the initial roster - I could bump him up every week to where he ended up near 80 OVR by the end of the season. Without player editing I would be stuck having Baldwin as a 50 OVR with D potential in my franchise. Same issue there that we had prior to Madden 12.

was not meant to be condescending but when someone says they have less control this year, it leads me to believe they have not fully fleshed out all that is CCM. Maybe im misguided, and apologies if it's deemed condescending.

EA does it AGAIN ... Last week I was very excited for Madden 13 ... did my pre-order ... Loved all the gameplay Videos ... The New Physics Engine had me thinking this would be the BEST MADDEN EVER ... Now ... I got my money back from Gamestop (Well just paid for "The Last of Us" instead). This RynoAid "GameChanger" Guy is sitting here defending this crap ... how did he put it ... O yeah "two huge steps forward with a small stumble back" STUMBLE??!!!??? ... Come On MAN! I do overstand that what some value in their games GREATLY differs from what others value but don't down play the importance of NO User Franchise & NO NCAA Draft Classes (Which was needed to be improved not Deleted)... Me having only played Madden online maybe 5 times since Madden has had online capabilities DOESN'T GIVE A RATs uhhhh Lunch what features OnLine has ... gameplay IS the most important thing and Im happy to see what looks like improvements but being able to ONLY play "Play Now" mode makes the $60+ price not worth it ... So IMO EA screwed the Pooch but in true EA/Big Money Company Fashion ... they don't care about missing out on a couple of Grand when millions will be made anyway ... well at least they can promise share holders better numbers in Madden 14 that is IF they care enough to fix the issue. As you can see thats a big if.
It's cool, i respect your right to talk about what's important to you..

Like i said, some of what you talked about is absolutely frustrating to have removed from the game.. but some of the additions are things I've waited for since they took out Online Franchise from the PC game back in 2001. Sorry if we just disagree on what is progress...

Honestly, I doubt there's more than 1% of Madden gamers who even care about editing... other than cleats and armbands, lol. Again, the few dozen posters here on OS who are expressing their displeasure are part of a tiny, even insignificant minority. And Madden's devs are aware of that, which is why they would even risk taking out editing.

I feel like EA is the bully on the playground. They realized the amateurs at OS could make better rosters with better ratings than the pro's they hire, so they just took our lunch money.

What you want is definitely not CCM. When you start a career mode.. you start at a single point...from there, the only impact on that fantasy world is what happens inside that fantasy world. Nothing from the real football world should or will impact that world.

Ratings increases should only be dictated by what players do on the field INSIDE the fantasy world, not what they are doing in the real world.

Your talking about a hybrid that will allow you to bypass the lock of immersion that CCM provides and give you manual intervention. This basically nullifies the RPG element of the game mode.

It would be nice to have that flexibility, but it's not really the goal of CCM i don't think.

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head

I do not know about anyone else, but I would rather have draft classes with backbones (Storylines) then NCAA import that did not reflect the actual class at all.

I just hope they can add editing in somehow, which I think would make the community overlook some of the other features left out as this seems to be the most important.

Will the custom slider feature be in CC or missing along with player edits?
I didn't see anyone answer this, but in one of the videos Josh Looman said sliders can be customized in CC mode online or offline.
