Re: Madden NFL 10 Gameplay Video: Eagles @ Cowboys (IGN)

Imo...this IGN video was the first sort of misstep in the hyping of Madden '10'.

I mean, pretty much everything up to this point had been going very well. The blogs for the most part were very informative, and well put together. The screen shots have looked great. And even the screens have had a lot of info in them. Showing several upgrades. [refs, equipment, etc..] And lots of good back and forth with Ian as well for the last several weeks. And with the expectations of the first real gameplay vid having most of us at the edge of our seats....we get this chopped up video, and Tom Hammond sounding worse than ever.

I don't know...maybe the expectations of the first gameplay video were so high, almost anything shown would have been a slight/big letdown. And imo...the video from IGN just wasn't very good.

I'll just speak for myself by saying...I kinda got used to most everything from the blogs, to the screens, and conversations with Ian making M10 seem unreal good. And then along came this kinda imo, crappy vid from IGN. Kind of let some of the air outta my balloon. But I have really no doubts that M10 will be a much improved game over '09'. In the end...thats all I really expect.

Commentary is still horrible, sounds so robotic, the sideline scene with romo on the phone makes me think they took the presentation side of things from NFL 2K5, and HOPEFULLY added a half-time show, post game wrap up, and week wrap up's in franchise.

but if the superbowl celebration is still the same thing, that will be a buzzkill

The weekly wrap-up show is in the game. And you're so right about the super bowl post game scene. There should be a celebration at the end of each game showing players and coaches shaking hands, players celebrating together after a big win. Not just 5 highlights from the game.

Expectations r always high this time of the year, but with no major announcements re; a new, next gen , game engine, hope sinks fast.
We, (all the veteran Madden gamers) know what were getting by now, is
more re-hashed un important gimmicks. If this game was truly different or significantly better, our community would be all over it. The sad part is we are all captive here. With no alternative, most Madden ballers, especially the newer ones, accept the new Title, hopeful, and buy it without thought. Its new, therefore it must be better.
Its an embarrassment that such a rich, and dominate company refuses to seriously bring its flagship title into the Next-Gen universe.
Yea, we get new detail, but a tired motion engine, they add more cut scenes, add a few animations, and stick some stupid gimmick in so they can keep marketing it as a all new Madden. We all remember vision cone, lead blocking control, weapons systems, playmaker control, and on and on, none of which stuck, cause they were purely marketing gimmicks, thats why their gone now. The laundry list of other problems is way to long to mention.
Also lay off the 2k ballers, the fact that Madden is still trying to catch up with a 5 year old, discontinued title, is Madden's fault. Of course ballers are going to make comparisons, no one, with 50 games on each title back in summer of 04 could deny the innovative play offered by the smaller company. The best criticism often comes from someone who has see it done better.
So be thankful for the 2k'ers out there, especially guys like Gideon Prime on You Tube. The squeekie wheel gets the greese, and we need to squeek loudly. If any of you ever played other 360 titles, Bioshock, Gears of War, assassins creed, NBA 2k, NHL 09, its painfully obvious that Madden is not concerened with bringing Madden up to this level.
So go ahead and fix the FB dive, the QB sneek, the WR screen, get the damn QB's to trow realistic fade routes, and punish the cheesers who snap, sprint and thow against the grain accurately, and most of the drones will be happy and sing your praises, but don't expect a truly next-gen title till yet another console comes out

Lastly don't be fooled by Ian's awareness of these posts, what a crock, so now you got towels and handwarmers, and refs, isnt that great, dudes your all being played and you don't get it. Talk about appeasement.

Lastly how has EA responded to new consoles in the past?
PS1 no Madden ready, Gameday, from Sony ruled.
PS2 again Madden tardy, and 2K, with Dreamcast, and X-box 1 ruled
X-Box 360 still waiting, 5 years later.

Now tell us how pro tak will save Madden

By the way, most of my anger is over the NFL, who never let an opportunity to make money slip by. (assuming NFL approched EA with the buy out)

Hey bro...I'm about as big an EA supporter as there is...I don't blame EA's development team...They can't force then engine change...It is what it is...Unfortunately and we are stuck with it...The are just so many band aids you can put over a wound and we are at a point where band aids just aren't enough...That being said I'll still buy the game and give it a shot

Im not an EA *** kisser but this is ******* crazy.....It has been 1 year and you want madden to do a 180 spin.....GET REAL........
I sort of agre with you...But the purpose of the video and hype is to get people excited...Its a necessary marketing angle...Problem is other than a few new presentation additions the game looks just like 09 and we all know 09 was a game that people hated...Personally I didn/don't hate 09...I just feel like Madden has gotten stale, boring, predictable and far from organic...

Now I'm a firm believer that you can't judge anything off of video's. for the most part...But as a Madden junkie for over 20 years this IMO is just the same game, prettied up and Pro Takked. Maybe thats good enough for most people but I really haven't enjoyed buying Madden in August and being disgisusted with it by November. I'm kinda feeling like "Here we go again" after seeing the recent media

I haven't read every comment in this thread and if mindless bashing occurs it should be dealt with but when someone expresses a viewpoint of being underwhelmed or disappointed or criticizes any aspect of what they've seen I don't think its appropriate to label these people as bashers etc. If everyone praises the game or gives EA a pass on some glaring concerns I don't think that does anyone any good. The reality I'm seeing is if you don't like the game and haven't liked the game in the last2-3 years get ready for more of the same. Nothing about this game, its animations, its physics, weird player snychronicity and locomotion will change until the Madden Legacy Code is gone. So from this perspective those of us who realize its not developers its the code are beating the hell outtta a dead horse.

Its just really hard to see people all hyped about the lettering on a jersey or presentation when the gameplay is the same ole same ole. I'd like nothing more though than to be wrong
