That is a big no no this year. Game plays damn near perfect on default. This year if you NEED to change sliders, plus or minus 5 in either direction is all you need. Finally Madden is ratings based. If you are doing terrible in an area, look at the players in that area ratings. I guarantee they are rated poor for what you expect them to be able to do. Honestly that is how it SHOULD BE.

For the 1st time ever you can not play the same way with every team and every player and rely solely on your stick skills. In the past people stick skills made poor players like hall of famers. Now this year you can't. That is the way it SHOULD BE.

For those of you having a hard time running, I strongly suggest you do the Hard Hat Skills trainer. It is imperative this year to actually count the people in the box you trying to run to. Free defenders no longer get tangled up coming through the hole. If it is 4 of them vs your 3 blockers, that free guy coming through and meeting you in the backfield. People really need to get into the habit of flipping the run play at the LOS or simply changing the play to something completely different. Forcing a play is a no no this year.

I would also suggest people learn to tap the LT button this year when you are running. Hesitation for the 1st time since it was put in Madden actually works this year and works very well. It can make the difference between you getting blown up in the backfield or throwing that free defender timing off just enough that he runs passed you in the backfield. It can also be used to allow your blockers a tad bit more time to get out in front of you.

It really comes down to knowing the team you are playing as personnel. Can't force plays this year relying on your stick skills. Can't force defensive linemen to do things they aren't rated high enough to do either. People want instant gratification EVERY PLAY. Doesn't work like that this year and it shouldn't anyway. Also can't expect to run behind poor offensive linemen and expect to have success either.
Exactly! Stop playing Madden and start playing football. I just had a game against New England where Brady started out 5-10-65 yards and ended up 22-28-360-5TDs. Next game as Buffalo against Indy. Luck is 2-11 at the half and Indy only has 2 first downs. 21-10 Buffalo,at the half. The Indy TD was a pick 6.

I get that not everyone wants make adjustments and really think about how to attack and play defense, but the default game is pretty good. I made three changes, dropped to slow speed because the game animates so much better, bumped injuries to 55 and fatigue to 60.

What we need to do is find a think tank of guys who are on the same page and have us each play 5 games at default and come up with a consensus of what needs to be changed. I don't have the time to test 20 or so games to make sure I'm not making false assumptions.

The other thing is, I would strongly caution those of you who value your time DO NOT spend the last nice weekends of summer trying to get your sliders set because I guarantee the patch will pee all over your cheerios. This will not be the same game in October that you are playing right now. My prediction is QB accuracy will be bumped up to robo level and penalties will be broken.

I posted videos in the media thread highlighting some fantastic runs, but that was literally after the extensive pain of learning what works best for the jets. They run way better out of the spread than a true 1 back or power. I run exusively the pistol and gun which is what Bowles Liles to do and it matters a great deal. I would say out side of learning the players I would learn what your team does and try to work in and out of the scheme. Nonetheless, start building and developing your roster to shape what your looking for. Can't have Romo running the titans or eagles playboy men...sorry

Would be more of an indication they need to develop the arcade, sim, hardcore sim gameplay settings like the NHL series has used (though not as well as I'd like) for the past few years. QB play—human and AI—is fantastic and subject to any number of variables in a game now. I love that Luck can have a good game against me, or, if I call a good game, and get pressure, I can limit his influence. Additionally, some games there isn't much I can do when the QB gets hot. QB play is organic and dynamic like never before. Needs zero tuning imo.

Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

Of all the things they changed, this bothers me the least.
The amount of time wasted while people mess with uniforms stadiums and weather was annoying. I'm a lifelong patriots fan and sitting in H2H matchmaking while people join and quit is annoying.
You see what people do with uniform colors to get an advantage and how annoying is it when someone chooses my team stadium as his home stadium so the crowd is "against me" even at home.
I do think weather should be randomized
And you should be able to choose no same team games. I don't want to play clones.

The biggest thing to me is why take away options like the ability to choose the weather? or the stadium? or the time of day? or the uniforms? WHY?!?!??!

I get the fact that some online players would abuse this by wearing mess up combinations or matching dark-on-dark jerseys (or white-on-white) to mess with people, but you always had the choice to simply NOT PLAY THOSE PEOPLE if you just paid attention during the match-up screen!!

I spend nearly 90% of my Madden time online because I find the CPU to be wholly predictable and inadequate as an opponent by October every year and I play Madden year-round. This year's game does a TON of things I really like (and a few I find insufferably bad too), but this lack of online selection options is really pissing me off. If these options get added back in to the game as DLC my head will explode.

EA...when making these decisions of what to leave alone and what to sztrip out of the game, it is ALWAYS the right decision to leave it in and allow the players to control things more NOT LESS!!!

What's really bad is that I can change everything in Practice Mode but can't do it in the games online at all.

I also think the idea of not allowing you to see what team your opponent is using is a hideous decision as well...there were hundreds of times last year where I would try to match-up against my opponent - either for playing rivalry games like Cowboys-Eagles or Bears-Packers or to get better match ups if the opponent wanted to use lower rated teams or higher rated teams...now? GONE.

Then there is the fact that you could choose to play random weather conditions (which pretty much NEVER cahnged from default "partly cloudy") or the rain, snow, wind, day, night times...now? GONE.

You could mix up the stadiums and use London or Fawcett or any home stadium in the online games...now? GONE.

Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

I do enjoy the all 22 cam for kick/punt returns. That actually helps make returns somewhat more plausible. Although I'm seeing guys pull up and change direction while pursuing a returner which has led to touchdowns that I literally could not stop because it appears as though my players were being warped out of making tackles. Awful.

solo tackles are very hard even in rookie mode. i used telvin smith and he had 0 solo tackles and 10 assisted tackles. very easy broken tackles

Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

what happened to the tuck and run trait? the qb always stays in the pocket even if the defensive line of scrimmage is open
