I think they should WANT to do better than that 8 year old game instead of turning away criticism concerning it compared to their current product.
You are correct, constructive criticism is fine and it's welcomed. The problem is what some seem to deem as constructive criticism when it is not.

If you want to compare living sidelines in 2k to madden, fine, but say why they are better, or what was different that makes you say this.

Example: The sidelines back in 2k were still better than Madden today. They interacted in real time, they had live interactions that varied. Madden may have improved, but they just added a few of the same animations for their living sidelines.

That is fine and welcomed.

This, and this is what most people do thinking it's okay, is not:

Bringing up 2k just to say that madden sucks 2k did this better 8 years ago.

That is simply bringing up 2k as a means of bashing madden.

You don't need to bring up 2k to talk about how bad the line interaction in Madden is.

The problem is when people name-drop that "other" game, but don't actually provide examples for it

For example, maybe a developer comes on the boards to talk about quarterback animations. He gets a few replies of "2K animations were SO much better! Madden's are terrible!" Ok, well what exactly does that mean? What is the poster referring to? Does he mean the "wind-up"? Is he talking about how the QB holds the ball? Footwork? What?

Posting visual evidence, or at the very very least typing it, would go SO much farther in dev-to-consumer interactivity, imo. They've already said insults will keep them and their ball at home; so why not do everything we can to keep them here?

Apologies for going off topic. In relationto the video, like I said a while back--the lighting and pocket are enough to get my $10. I think it's a nice base for now, and hopefully they can truly build on it for next year like they claim.

Explained perfectly. I wouldn't mind seeing more crack down people who constantly just post the 2nd example just to make things less hostile here for everyone. Also things like "I'm never buying Madden, I give up. This game will always suck.". Post like that make me want to reply "why the hell are you here?!" lol.

I don't give a crap what folks are saying about Madden next gen, I'm pretty impressed with the little they have shown. I just need to see real gameplay because I aint buying nothing blindly this coming gen. Too many liars in this biz now days to trust anyone.

lol This is actually one of the reasons I don't post much...doc says I gotta keep my blood pressure down Plus, we all know the negatives towards Madden, but it's gotten to the point where you're almost not allowed to say "I liked what I saw in that trailer."

I wouldn't be too concerned about posting that. I see plenty of those post get no replies but watch out if you use too many exclamation points. Then people get offended.

You can see my criticisms for this trailer earlier but there are positives in there too. I just want to discuss Madden and talk football. Some people are here looking to rain on parades.

And Big F'n Deal: I'm not saying there should be board uniformity; far from it. I know that Chase & others interacted with negative posters. But when someone comes out recently (I think it was Rex? Or was it Clint?) and basically says "insulting us makes us not want to interact", then I have to assume that is the stance of all Madden developers. Until stated otherwise, when 1 of them speaks they speak for everyone.

When someone says "I'll take 2K8 over Madden any day", don't think it's better to include WHY they feel that way? And perhaps back it up with examples? There's a great thread on here asking "Are challenges broken?" The guys in there are not saying "the challenge system sucks! Fix it!" They are giving actual explanations of what happened to them in their games. That is good information, should a dev decide to check it out.

I listed you in my original post as a member here who always goes out of his way to back up what he's talking about. I just wish every poster did the same.
As I stated before to Road, I only post that way because I enjoy interacting and discussing football gaming in this forum with other Osers. If I didn't explain myself clearly I would be banned because my posts would likely come across wrong. My post style has absolutely nothing to do with making my statements accessible to Madden devs for their consideration. I won't go as far as to say they couldn't completely care less what any of us post but I will say it has very little effect on the game, imo.

If anybody affiliated with creating Madden was really seeking quality feedback for improving the game, there are a whole host of threads on OS that are just a search away. Those threads are full of constructive feedback and very little, if any, rabble, ie http://www.operationsports.com/forum...real-life.html

That said, I agree it makes for better discussion and interaction on the internet if we all try to explain ourselves as well as possible, nothing wrong with encouraging that. I just don't buy into the notion that it has any substantial effect on changing Madden by getting through to Madden devs.

Low-resolution video, but here you go:

The players, crowd and sidelines all react in real-time to the big touchdown pass from from Case Keenum to Andre Johnson.

The crowd stands up when the ball is in the air, cheers when the catch is made, then goes bananas once the touchdown is scored.
