Overall STR is tough to calculate by certain lifts alone. The bench test is more a measure of muscular endurance than a one-rep max test. Fortunetly, I have the 1RMs for bench and squat for most players in the league. Even that does not offer a good enough view at STR though because some players use it differently. Look at Ks and Ps for example. They won't bench a ton, but I guarantee they can out lift some skill players and even have superior leg strength. So I use some different measures to calculate the STR ratings.

Well, most of the important attributes are up, so I decided to re-rate the Eagles and play around in practice. And I must say, the game plays noticeably smoother. The biggest difference is blocking, especially downfield, and route-running. Everything feels realer. I was a little skeptical when I looked at the OVRs posted on the site. They actually don't reflect the calculated OVRs in Madden (making them not matter, which they shouldn't). I just want to say bravo, and I look forward to trying these in Madden 12.

Yeah those are all preliminary ratings based on scouting data. The attributes will match the overall ratings soon. Glad you enjoy the ratings.

why santana moss only a 61 at catching? thats worse than many running backs. does your scouting data really say his hands are that poor? thanks!

Yes. The mundane use of his hands is very poor. Think of that not as an overall catch rating, but rather, the mundane use of hands when catching. Once again, these are preliminary, and will be adjusted so don't freak out just yet.

So, I just read through the entire thread (it took a while), and I have to say you're doing some amazing work. Also, I would like to commend you on your incredible patience with some of the comments you have received. You've given people really in-depth and thoughtful answers. Good job sir.

The more I read the more excited I became at the possibility of using these ratings in the next edition of Madden. I will probably try to work out a system for giving new ratings to the rookies as well to make them fit with your system.

I have to say, I am really impressed that you have ratings for a guy like Andy Fantuz, who has never played a single down of professional American football. Ever year I create the Toronto Argonauts, and your website is going to make it so much easier, since you have ratings for half the Argos roster already!

I for one would be fully in favor of a campaign to replace Donny Moore with Dan Berens as the new Ratings Czar

will the player's speeds always be based off their combine 40 time or will they be adjusted closer to "on field" speeds? for example carson palmer is a 78 speed while anquan bolden is a 75.

I believe he uses a combination of 40 times and scouting data to assign speed ratings, but I may be wrong - it might just be 40 times.
