Tommycoa’s 15 minute cpu vs cpu slider set for Madden 20

Tips/Suggestions

When i play, I’m now using the home team. Provides better results and the home team still seems to go 9-7 in 16 game stretches.

Also, I’m deleting my profile in between each game.

New slider set-up. I’m using htowns updated roster. Got all the trades, free agents, and tons of rookies. Dont think he could do but up to fifth round draft picks. This is an excellent file. https://forums.operationsports.com/f...oster-ps4.html

Also using these playbook suggestions:

https://forums.operationsports.com/f...eme-edits.html

Also using Default XP Sliders. Love tdawg’s work but the game just seems to advance better when it’s default.

Since this last patch, it seems to be playing better while playing online. Especially with these 15 minute quarter settings.

QB EDITS

THIS IS STRAIGHT FROM JOSHC’S BOARD, ON HIS OP
Schemes and Archetypes

Before we get into this topic, let's address one item I can speak confidently on: QB Archetypes.

On All Pro (not fully tested on other difficulties), only QBs who have the Scrambling Archetype as their top archetype (or tied for the top) will scramble past the LOS. Other archetypes will move around, but they never actually take off. The only way around this is to manually edit QBs within franchise (I personally do this for 5 or 6 guys in the default roster). Raising SAC/MAC and lowering DAC usually does the trick for guys on the borderline (like Trubisky). I don't know if this is a bug or a design choice - but this is where we are right now.

Offensive Playbook Guide:

By sim stats, I mean when you sim an entire season without watching a game.

Watched games/stats I’m referring to the games I watch in cfm by using slow speed super sim.

ATLANTA FALCONS
Sim Stats: can get you a 4000 yard passer/1000 yard rusher/1000 yard wr. TE with have 800-900 yards. Second wr will have 700-900 yards. Lot of that depends on scheme and player ratings.

How they attack when you watch a game: This book passes a bit more than it runs. It spreads it’s catches all over the field but usually tries to target the main wr and te. It also has a wildcat formation where a wide receiver comes in at qb. They run the ball with zone more.

Best schemes: zone run game and either vertical or west coast passing schemes.

My take on this book:

I’d assign this playbook to teams with 2 good wrs, a good elusive back, and a field general/improviser type qb. I’d also give this one to an offense i expect to finish in the top 5.

Arizona Cardinals:

Sim stats: 4000 yard passer/rarely a 1000 yard rusher unless you use run and shoot/could see 3 1000 yard wrs with this if things fit together right.

How they play when you watch: Depends on the scheme:

Schemes: run and shoot-they actually run it a bit more when you watch, spread, they run more red option and spread the ball to all the positions for targets, air raid they throw more.

Type of talent best for it:
Improviser at qb, recieving back for shotgun sets, elusive as starter for under center sets, 3 good wrs and a good te.,

BALTIMORE:

SIMmed games:
Ive seen teams gain over 2000 yards in simmed seasons. This is a run heavy book. With right scheme and personnel, ive seen them have 2 thousand yard wrs. TE usually leads the team in receptions

When you watch:
West coast spread scheme:
Gets both shotgun and under center backs into rotation. Qb, if a scrambler will run a lot too.they throw to the tight end a lot. Tons of screens and jet sweeps and deep balls to wide outs

What you need:
Athlete at qb. I’d get 3 different backs for each of the positions, starter, third down, and power back. Deep threats are best at wr and possession or deep threat at tight end.

Buffalo

Sim stats:
4000 yard passer/rare for a thousand yard back, has to be a stud, 2 thousand yard wrs.

When you watch:
Really good play action book. Great book if you have multiple rbs at the different positions. Attacks from many different sets. Great for multiple zone or power run. Also good for west coast spread or vertical passing. One of the more versatile playbooks on here.

Personnel: really like this with multiple schemes or west coast spread. With mulitple, get a field general, for west coast spread find a scrambler. I’d get multiple backs if possible because it offers so many formations. Wrs run bubble screens, jet sweeps, short, medium and long. Very diverse book. Pretty underrated in my opinion.

Carolina:
I dont use this book in the deep sims where i play way into the future. This is one of the worst books. On the field, the run game just never gets going. Doesn’t matter who the qb is. I avoid this book. Use washington or Tennessee Or Seattle instead. They kind Of do the same things but they do them way better.

Chicago:

One of the best books both passing and running. West coast spread scheme and vertical schemes work best. Stat wise you’ll possible see 3 thousand yard wrs, a thousand yard back and a 4000 yard passer.

When you watch:
With west coast spread, they really attack the field. If theirs a true deep threat at war, they will exploit the other team and give him tons of targets. Nice to have a power back and an elusive/recieving type back. They also go to the tight end quite a bit. When they use vertical schemes they target the te deep quite a bit.

I really Ike this playbook. I assign it to within the top 3 passing offenses in the league.

Cincinnati:
This book is kind of blah. I really don’t use it much. It does run the ball a lot and get targets to rangy wrs. Sim wise you’ll see 1000 yard backs and maybe 2 thousand yard wrs.

Cleveland:
This book is more like Atlanta’s. Almost all the schemes work but stats and such are very comparable to Atlanta. I give this book to the better offenses.

Dallas:
Sim stats:
This book gives lots of rushing yards. They run it a lot. Multiple schemes, vertical schemes, and west coast schemes work well with this book. Target wise they spread the ball out quite a bit. In simmed seasons the qbs can throw for 4000 yards and a war or two may get 1000 yards. More times than not, they dont have a thousand yard wr but rather have 4-5 guys in 700-900 yard range.

Denver playbook:

Sim stats: never seen a thousand yard wr with this book. Seen thousand yard rushers.

When you watch: this book dinks and dunks a lot. With these future teams, i do not use this book unless I give it to one of the weaker teams to make them weaker. This is one of the lesser books on here.

Detroit lions:

this book is a lot like the denver book. I don’t see them really shine in one position in sim stats. You may see a 1000 yard wr. 4000 yard passer. I really don’t use this book much with the future teams.

Green Bay packers:
This is a nice little west coast book. Sim stats you will almost always see a thousand yard wr if the number 1 we is good. In the future teams arent rated as high. I assign this book to teams that have 80+ wrs but the other wrs are significantly lower. They mix the run pretty well with this book when you watch. And also get the tight end involved. The number 1 we gets tons of targets with this book.

Houston Texans:
This book is more of a pro spread book but it worked the under center formations nicely. Wish stats will give you good results with high octane offenses that have good wrs and Tes. You can see two thousand yard wrs. And a 4000 yard passer. You won’t see many 1000 yard backs when you sim.

Indianapolis Colts:

This is the book that made me test this stuff. No matter what, when brissett is qb he became a league star didnt matter his rating. Ive seen this book, when simming seasons have a2-3 thousand yard wrs. Qbs who have this book usually lead the large in passer or are near the top. I give the colts and bears books to the top passing offenses in the way down the future cfm. The vertical schemes work best with this book. West coast spread also works good. Sim stat wise it’s rare to see a thousand yard rusher. They throw the ball to all the targets with this book tool. If you have a good tight end, he will be used to attack when you watch games.

Really high on this book. Love watching teams using this one.

Jacksonville:
This book is pretty run heavy when you watch or sim. If you have a good starter and third down back, I’d consider this book. When you sim, I’ve seen them almost have 2 thousand yard rushers with Fournette as starter and Najee Harris the third down back. Even though it’s described as a west coast book, I’ve had success with it as a vertical book, or the multiple run book. Wouldn’t try spread/air raid/run and shoot with this one. Sim wise, it’s rare to see 1000 yard wrs.

Re: Tommycoa’s 15 minute cpu vs cpu slider set for Madden 20

Hi tommy,
Been a longtime follower of your sliders dating back to madden 18. Digging your current 10min sliders rn (been using matt10’s sliders in the beginning as his was really good for animations and stats until the last couple patches which rendered them funky). love your run game as I feel the cpu can actually gain yards past the los which was a problem using Matt’s sliders. Also love how qb actually throws inaccurate passes that don’t count as drops though I think qb decision making could be a tad better. Pre shifts, motions, audibles are fantastic to see. One suggestion could be to increase wr catching but that’s just preference.

Just have a couple quick questions. One, you mentioned you didn’t do all madden or expert at intro for the purpose of a higher score game. But in the directions, you still stated expert-competitive so which one should I do? Second, Do human skill sliders actually have an effect on cpu vs cpu? I heard from a couple that it could just be a placebo. I ran some experiments but couldn’t come to a definitive answer (do know that if you take control and jump in, then slow sim again, it retains the human sliders). Again lov w your sliders and will try out the 15min soon n lyk my thoughts

Yeah, i found another fix, beyond not all madden. Seems like something was lost with play calling and strategy when i took the expert/madden out of the equation.

With the 10 minute set and wr catch slider. I was the same way, but any way i moved it, no matter how small, things got thrown out of whack. Like rbs or tight ends catching tons of passes. I had to settle where i had it because where i penciled in at gets wrs more targets.

WIth human sliders. I’ve had them different before, human default, cpu customized and the definitely played whackier when i had them different.

Yes on jumping in the game. I did this last year and strongly recommended it. Haven’t tried this year, but it should work good still. It’s fun watching only your team and then doing Play the moments with other games. Just make sure you’re controlling the visiting team.

I may go back to 10 minute set and try some of the discoveries i made with this set. Especially with wr/db interactions.

Re: Tommycoa’s 15 minute cpu vs cpu slider set for Madden 20using al

Thanks for the informative reply. I’m glad we’re both seeing the same things. As of now, how do you compare the 10min to this set of sliders? Any pros, cons?

Also, how do I control the other “visiting” team. My Xbox controller doesn’t allow me to switch teams. If I hook up a second controller, I can’t do slow sim.

Lastly, I figured with the wr catching. I remember how Matt was explaining some sliders are correlated with the rest which makes this experiment even harder. Typical madden algorithm smh. Maybe try tweaking qb accuracy? Idk, I think it’s fine given how everything else plays real good

I still like the 10 minute set better i think. I’m just used to it. They both play good. The 15 minute quarters seem to take way longer to watch.

Pros to 15
Fatigue works a little better and the sub backs more.

Just like seeing the 15 minute clock and drives that last 5+ minutes. I miss that with 10 minutes.

Cons
They do audible, but not as much.

Game feels like it has a governor switch that makes scoring seem difficult. Very tough when testing sliders.

Already mentioned the length.

Qb acc is really qb awareness/team offense awareness. Sure, accuracy is tied into it but the other sliders have more to do with accuracy. But it seems like the play calling and strategy improves when this slider is higher. 65-90 range.

I’m gonna try to do a write-up that better describes/defines the gameplay sliders.

Re: Tommycoa’s 15 minute cpu vs cpu slider set for Madden 20

Made a couple of minor adjustments. Playing much better now.

Upped Pass cover to 45
Upped Pass reaction to 50
Lowered CFM face mask to 43.

Face mask controls the defense’s overall aggression. 44 makes them a little less aggressive and allows for a slight but much needed uptick in scoring. Also seeing more explosive plays but not too many.

The punter edits also help add a little scoring because with these edits they don’t boom the ball and accumulate tons of hidden yardage by punting the ball 10-15 yards longer than they should be.

I had to drop the All-madden at intro trick i usually use. Stats and gameplay looked good, i just never seen anyone score more than 38 points.most games had between 30-40 point totals, There just weren’t any higher scoring games with the all-madden intro trick. Once I went pro, the points upped.

Re: Tommycoa’s 15 minute cpu vs cpu slider set for Madden 20

Having more success in two games by making sure when a game starts, my controller is on the Home Team’s side inside controller select screen.

Seems like things have changed with this rule of always using away.

2 games in, divsional playoffs, and the scoring is up but not ridiculous. And the home team won game one and the away game won game 2.

Scoring recievied that slight uptick I was looking for, but the offenses are still gaining appropriate yardage both running and passing.

Also had a 0 sack game last night.

The last few games I’ve watched, the sack totals have been 0, 2, and 4.

The target distribution to wr/te/rb is also quite better.

It’s playing and looking a lot better by using home team when you watch a game.

Re: Tommycoa’s 15 minute cpu vs cpu slider set for Madden 20

Made some minor changes:

1. Leave skill level as All Madden in Main Menu. Still switch it to Pro in CFM
2. INT upped to 70
3. Tackle dropped to 33
4. Also, I’m using the home team when i play a game, meaning in controller select, my controller is always on the home team. Used to be the away team. May just be for 15 minute sliders. Haven’t tried this on the ten minute set I have up.
