Pre Season Nashville Predators 2013 / 2014:

Training camp and pre season

GM Loonstra and coach Trotz started the training camp with a couple of invitees. They had 7 rookies in their starting roster. The following guys were invited to Nashville:

#51 center Austin Watson (TWF, 75, 4 Yellow), Right, USA.
#18 right wing Colton Sissons (TWF, 61, 3½ Green), Right, CAN.
#34 center Brendan Leipsic (SNP, 60, 3½ Yellow), Left, CAN.
#31 left wing Joshua Shalla (TWF, 64, 3½ yellow), Left, CAN.
#12 defenseman Mattias Ekholm (TWD, 69, 3½ yellow), Left, SWE.
#9 right wing Filip Forsberg (PLY, 78, 4½ yellow), Right, SWE.
#76 defensman Maus Jansen (TWD, 76, 3½ yellow), Left, NED.

They got experience in the pre season and training camp. They played their games and did good. But after considering all options, GM Loonstra decided to sent back 5 of the 7 invitees. Only Forsberg and Jansen stayed in the NHL. Forsberg was already signed and Jansen will get his professional contract soon.

Pre season did not go as well as hoped. There were no injuries. But the results could have been better. Coach Trotz wasn't really satisfied with a record of 2-4-0, but it was still pre season.

Transactions

Nashville started with 49 players on their roster and was planning to give Jansen a contract. GM Loonstra wanted to make room for players and CAP space. He took a good look at his roster and at the end of his roster made his moves.
