IN A TALE OF TWO HALVES, UTSA LOSES HEARTBREAKER

Oh, Blake Bogenschutz. A name UTSA fans may have to become familiar with over the next few years. He has played far too much this year, and he may play much more. So, onto the game.

UTSA's defense started out strong with a pick on Marshall's first drive, which led to a UTSA field goal. UTSA would lead 20-9 at half time, but Henderson went down early in the second half, and it all went downhill from there. Henderson has already suffered an injury in three games this year, and there are rumors he may not be able to continue playing next year, according to sources. UTSA managed only 3 points in the second half, and the defense let up just enough, as 17.

Blake Bogenschutz almost became the hero, however. He was leading a drive with under two minutes left, score 26-23. There was potential to tie or potentially take the lead. However, Bogenschutz fumbled while scrambling out of the pocket, and thus the hope for an upset died in a heartbreaker. Next week, the Roadrunners take on in-state rival Rice in the Alamodome.

Marshall have done both of us today

That's unlucky on the fumble when looked in a good position to at least get the game to overtime, always fumble at the wrong moment. Time to get ready for Rice and get back onto the Winning side.

The fumble was in an unlucky spot, that's for sure. After Henderson went down, the offense basically stopped. Rice is 0-4, so hopefully we can beat them! Thanks for checking in!

White has been very good starting so far and is definitely making a statement that eh could be starter when Williams returns. We'll see if that happens. As for Marshall, you'll see later tonight what happened there! [emoji6]

I have a special love for running with my fullback, on my UNC Charlotte Dynasty each of my 4 years my FB has ran between 30-55 carries

DESPITE LOSS, UTSA GAINS FOUR MORE COMMITS

This week, Offensive Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator Jake Carlisle displayed his recruiting prowess yet again, snagging four more recruits for the UTSA Roadrunners.

The first to commit was JUCO center Adam White, who is originally from Perryton, TX. He is the #77 center in the nation, and will add depth to an offensive line that needs it very much so. He comes in as a okay blocker, and also will likely redshirt his first year on campus. He is a one-star recruit and is 6'3", 304 pounds, so he already possesses the size to succeed

Next up is athlete Reggie Manning out of Beaumont, TX. He is the #84 athlete nationwide, and 12th in the state of Texas, easily the highest rated commit so far. He projects well as a defensive tackle or end, with his measurements of 6'3" and 283 pounds. I know it's been said already, but he also will likely redshirt to improve his speed and strength.

Following Manning was three-star receiver Calvin Harris, out of Copperas Cove, TX. He is the #97 receiver nationally who also has decent size, coming in at 6'0" and 191 pounds. He has average speed, but excels at running routes and catching in traffic. Overall though, he will also likely redshirt to work on his hand overall, as if he can get better in that area he could become very good.

Finally, we have two-star fullback Jason Johnson, out of Athens, TX. He will compete in camp for the backup fullback position with Michael Smith, and sources say whoever loses will get cut. He is a little short, but solid, coming in at 5'11" and 245 pounds. He is okay all-around, but will redshirt should he win the backup.

REPORT: BLAKE BOGENSCHUTZ TO START VS RICE

UTSA Head Coach Larry Coker and Offensive Coordinator Jake Carlisle have both confirmed reports that have said that Blake Bogenschutz will start the Roadrunner's next game vs the Rice Owls. Jaylon Henderson will not be starting due to multiple injuries suffered this year already, and not even six games into the year. There have also been several reports he will drop out of football after this year, due to both the mounting injuries and increasing pressure from his family to quit due to the multitude of injuries suffered. If this is true, UTSA will only have one quarterback on roster with more than a few plays worth of experience, being Blake Bogenschutz. This would be a most unfortunate turn of events for the program, should it occur. We will update you as the story progresses.
