UTSA OVERCOMES SLOW START TO BEAT NORTH TEXAS
UTSA's offense came into the game under new management, as it was being led by Dalton Sturm, the redshirt sophomore, who was taking over for Jaylon Henderson, who will be out for the remainder of the season.
The offense started off slowly, scoring only seven first half points. North Texas, on the other hand, scored 24 and looked to be UTSA's second loss in row. However, Offensive Coordinator Jake Carlisle made the necessary adjustments and sent in Blake Bogenschutz and Corbin White to relieve Dalton Sturm and Jarveon Williams, who were both struggling.
The second half started out well for the Roadrunners, as Bogenschutz hit Kenny Bias across the middle for and 82-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the half. Later on, however, UTSA was driving when both White and Bogenschutz went out with injuries. White, who suffered a concussion, will be out against Louisiana Tech, while Bogenschutz will either be the starter or backup.
One key stat from the game are UTSA's 43 second half points, including 29 in the fourth quarter! Meanwhile, North Texas only managed nine second half points.
Final Score: UTSA 50, North Texas 33
Next up: the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. This matchup will determine who represents the C-USA West in the Conference USA Championship Game. Go Roadrunners!
