I'm gonna have to refresh my memory on that one.

People just need to stop making the creepy dolls and the world can then sing in perfect harmony:

Re: Curse Of Chucky

I like slashers, but I never got into the Child's Play movies. Although I kinda thought Bride of Chucky was entertaining. Might have been Jennifer Tilly.

I'm still waiting on a new Nightmare and Friday. Yes I know they are silly, but I've always been a huge fan. Especially of Friday the 13th.

In any event, the series was inspired by an episode of The Twilight Zone called Living Doll which starred Telly Savalas and aired back in 1963. This particular episode is more terrifying than any of the Child's Play films IMO.

Fun fact: The voice of "Talky Tina" was done by June Foray, who is famous for doing the voice of both Rocket J. Squirrel and Natasha Fatale in the classic Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons.
In a similar vein there was also the Twilight Zone episode about an evil ventriloquist's doll. Watching that as a kid was a bad idea and made a movie like the first Child's Play a nightmare lol. Then there was the movie "Dolls".

There was an old Alfred Hitchcock Presents with William Shatner and Jessica Tandy about an old spinster who fell in love with a ventriloquist. It creeped me right the **** out even as a grown man.

Something about those old episodes, the makeup and the black and white that is really good for giving you the creeps. The same can go for a lot of old black and whites though. Bette Davis in "Whatever happened to Baby Jane" and Gloria Swanson in "Sunset Boulevard" come to mind.

On topic, I'm surprised they still make these movies. Like someone said they eventually devolved into bad comedy, I thought the first one was effective. My little brother had a My Buddy at the time so there was much foolishness in the house when it came out.

Re: Curse Of Chucky

There's 2 Twilight Zone episodes about a ventriloquist actually. The Dummy and Ceasar & Me. I think they used the same doll so it was a bit confusing.

Anyone remember the movie "Magic"? Kind of the same premise of a ventriloquist dummy coming to life, except here he makes his "master" do the killing.

Creeped me the hell out!

I think the best thing they could do for Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th is to bookend them with something well done. The Jason movies are terrible.

Re: Curse Of Chucky

That Chucky doll looks weird...something about it.....

Currently, I'm not a fan of horror movies/slashers or anything like that. I saw the Shining when I was 9, that was absolutely terrifying. When we were kids, my brother (2 years older than me) and I would watch some horror movies. One time, when I was 8 or so, my brother was flipping through the channels on TV and we watched the entire first Chucky movie. Scary stuff. I've seen all of the Chucky movies though, just from flipping through the channels and boredom. The first was scariest.
