There's no thread for this, so I thought I would bring it up since I just saw it.

Easily of the most mentally disturbing movies I have ever seen. I didn't even realize that Ellen Page was the girl in this until I just saw it. Very intensifying cinematography as well. I must say, it was hard to see a black-and-white "good guy/bad guy" in this movie, but I think that was part of the disturbing aspect of this movie.

I guess I don't quite remember the general audience's reception to this movie, but I think it deserved a little more attention than it got. Definitely surpasses most Hollywood movies out there.

There were some unbelievable (as in unrealistic) aspects in my mind, such as a teenage girl with that kind of intrinsic wit and knowledge... but I really liked the simplicity of the movie. There were only five actors credited, two of which we spend most time with. Never felt like it dragged on either, especially when they really hit the point of the movie for you only twenty minutes in.

Anyone else ever see this?

I just "saw" the movie through Wikipedia plot summary.....sounds like it was pretty good....

Awesome movie, really well acted IMO...esp. by Ellen Page.

The castration scene was crazy intense, one of the most tense scenes I've ever seen.

Sounds like I need to watch it. Weird I know, but I enjoy movies like that.

Is this a movie you can go to Blockbuster and rent? I've never heard of it, so I have no idea how big it was/is.

After I saw Juno, I searched for Ellen Page on Youtube and saw some snippets of Hard Candy. Needless to say I was somewhat surprised. Anyone happen to see her feature in the L.A. Times Magazine January 6th? My God if I ever see her out on the streets I'll do something foolish.

Dark flick...almost a play since all of the movie pretty much takes place in the same room with just 2 actors for the most part.

Page IS that movie. I think it was her first film too.

Her first starring role anyway and what a great role to get. She deserved it though since she nailed it.
