Page was in a few TV movies and some other minor stuff before Hard Candy but yea it was her first major role.

And the movie did get good acclaim...in the indepedent circuit. It was nominated for a few awards and basically shut down the Catalonian International Film Festival by winning Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Audience Award.

Watch it. It's a good one.

This didn't get much push in the theaters so I saw it the first time I could on DVD. Quite a memorable and unique film in it's dark overtones... I can't recommend it enough.

You're disturbed by everything for about 80% of the film.

saw it right when it came out for DVD... I thought it was very good. That's honestly the reason why I was excited for Juno. Ellen Page is an excellent actress.

She also has the same birthday as me (2/21/1987).

Was bored last night so I rented this. Never heard of it before, but I love films that are original and this one didn't disappoint.

Am I the only one who didn't like this movie? I was just expecting so much more based on the reviews.

I'm sure you're not the only one, but I think with the route that most thrillers go these days it is pretty tough for this one to hit the disappointing crowd. The originality and the emotional trickery the director pins on you is pretty exasperating to say the least (but I mean this in a very, very good way). Kind of like The Mist, it's a time when you love hating what you're seeing on screen.

Since this thread was bumped, I might as well advertise that the Blu-ray is available for $9.99 this week at Best Buy. DEFT, you might as well have made this a blind buy since it's only a few bones more than a rental.
