Man I wish I could find it, but last year I remember reading that 2 people were taken off NHL 14 production to begin work on the Next gen version of the game (nhl 15 I assume) and they started working on it beofre NHL 14 was released so NHL 15 should be next gen, no reason why it wouldn't. I find the lack of production in the last game exceptable if they come out with a good game for next gen in NHL 15.

Anyway if I find the article I will post it for sure

NHL 09 - Be a Pro mode
NHL 10 - "New" engine to make the game more aggressive
NHL 11 - Er...Not that much
NHL 12 - A useless offline exhibition mode that they call the "Winter Classic"
NHL 13 - New presentation and colors that just hurt my eyes
NHL 14 - A dumb "new" mode they call "Live the Life"

What I bet for NHL 15, something "new." I feel like our expectations are high, but EA Canada just doesn't answer our prayers.
Devs must be paid a lot too put up with s*** like this. You either don't know anything about hockey or just ignorant. The game is far from perfect but far from the crap youre trying to make it out to be. Arguably EA's best title (not saying much I know) but they make a lot of improvements year after year.

In the last 2 years they have redone the skating to make it 100x better. The changes to EASHL in NHL 14 were great as well. The offline modes are stale as can be but NHL captures the full team game better than any others with OTP. The biggest fault is I think trying to capture the casual audience in spending too much time on fighting engine crap, but still a very solid game.

That'd be like MLB not having much(if any) foul balls because foul balls takes away from the fun of the game. It's part of the game,it should be in regardless if a small group of people think it's not fun. EA Sports really just makes NHL more of a game that'd generate the most money online than a game that'd be great to play. There's a reason NHL14 was one of the worst selling NHL games EA has made in almost a decade(even the lockouts and NHL13 didn't do that bad!)
Ever swung at a 90mph pitch? I'm guessing you haven't or else you would know that the speed of a ball in that game is nothing like real life. Can they speed it up to make it the 10th of a second to get from mound to bat? Sure but it wouldn't be fun. MLB is a great game I'll give you that, much better than NHL but every game does things like that. As well baseball is the easiest sport to program as everything is 1 action at a time, you don't ever have multiple things going on.

Switch to hardcore and change the sliders and you will have a pretty realistic NHL experience. You can bitch about crappy presentation or stale offline modes but the on ice game play is as strong as many of these other games.

Don't expect any game play changes to be announced.

IMO NHL 15 on PS4/One is huge news

Well said. I can't wait for this game and see what they are able to do. The quality of the game is impressive since the team who puts it together is very small. Gameplay is top notch. I think they peaked early in the cycle last gen so there wasn't much left they could with system resources the last year or two. Although each iteration played better, it was only noticeable to those who get the game yearly (although the new skating engine was big, and the puck not being tied to the player too).

Hockey, in real life, is a very sloppy game. It's a game of battles over loose pucks, that's hard to make fun in a video game. I don't think it translates well on a complete sim basis. It would make scoring very rewarding, but a very frustrating experience overall. Especially playing on 5 min periods, you'd be lucky to get more than 2 or 3 shots a period.

Anyone who has played a game on both current-gen and next-gen knows that next-gen is noticeably better, even if it doesn't look all the different. I hope it's a trailer like Madden's, it just shows a transformation of the player models. Hopefully those are part of EA's Ignite, so they can focus more on hockey and less on things like the player models and environment.

Madden looks to play no differently, The Show is the same, was NBA2K14 that much different from last to next gen?

I loved how different NHL07 was. I was hoping for a new engine for next-gen, but I doubt we get it.
It's too much money to invest.

I'll just say I won't be surprised if the game is very similar to this generation, but with better graphics and hopefully an upgrade in presentation and commentary.
But the AI and gameplay will most likely be the same.
Last Gen 2k14 was actually a much more complete game.
