Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here

ok just played my first game as OU and first game on AA. Some good things, some bad, some things have been said before even by me but heres what i gathered from that game:

-Whoever said that Tim Tebow can't get hurt, well i hurt him, 2nd play Florida ran

-Backup QB for Florida completed a first down then threw a INT that my Safety jumped because the QB was getting rushed

-Bad Snaps... i had 1, i've noticed its always OU that gets the snap over the head. I assume its because Florida's shotgun has the QB closer to the line, maybe? But this needs to be fixed, tone it down if you keep it and make it a live ball not incomplete. Its been said many times in this and other threads.

-Nice running lanes. I was able to get about 3 yards a pop with Florida on heisman running the ball and occasionally get a long run. On AA with OU i was able to really see where the holes were and follow my blocks.

-Corso picking the same plays over and over. I know the whole linked plays thing but Corso shouldnt suggest the same play 2 plays in a row let alone 3 plays in a row! He seems to only pick from about 10 different plays. I like using Corso because i dont have to spend so much time sorting through a playbook but i just look at all the Corso suggestions and pick which one i like. But he has no variety in '10. Especially on defense, he picked the same play 4 times in a row!

-QB Sneak: i read people complaining that the QB just fell down. I ran a QB sneak at the 1 yard line with Bradford and he took a step to the right and fell forward a couple steps. It looked like a real short distance QB sneak. In years past you would run the QB sneak and the QB would get 5-6 yards on a QB sneak! This is more realistic so i like it just as long as the AI isn't too dumb if you have 3rd & 2 and run the QB sneak and he only falls for 1 yard.

-Hail Mary: Florida was going for a Hail Mary at the end of the half, i loved that they didnt just snap the ball and throw it in 2 seconds before the WRs even went anywhere. Tebow took his time, since there was really no rush because of the prevent, waited for his WRs to get far down field and actually hit his WR coming back to the ball. It woulda been a 65 yard throw or so to get it in the endzone, the WR came back and caught the ball at about the 15 so he didnt score but it was much better than 09.

-This happened twice: Florida got a first down inside 2 mins of the 4th quarter, hurried to the line, game clock was stopped, play clock was running, they were set up in the spike formation, they let the play clock run down to 3 (game clock never changed) and then spiked the ball???? If the game clock isn't going to run, then run a real play! That happened 2 times.

-This also happened twice: Florida caught a pass, hurried to the line, my defense took their sweet *** time getting back to the line and once the RE got caught behind the LG and hit him so i got encroachment and the other time my LE didnt get back in time so i got an offsides. That needs to be fixed.

Overrall it was a good game, i did feel like on AA i could drop the hammer at any moment and really blow the game away if i wanted. I usually play on heisman.

And i still hate the new camera with a passion. Damn all of you that asked for new cameras! I know this is the camera you guys had in mind but i'm sure it made EA feel like they needed to make some sort of change and we get stuck with this crap cam.

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here

Played the demo for the first time since Friday night and I can't wait. Played 2 games, one with each team, and I'm starting to figure out the r-stick defensive engage moves to where I'm getting good pressure on the QB.

Seems the trick is to do the engage moves before being locked up. I did this consistently in both games and was getting through. Also, my cpu teammates followed suit.

I'm ready for the retail to drop. Ready to play as my Louisville Cardinals....

I feel like I'm playing a different game than you guys.

I like the camera
I can run the ball fine
I've had games where I score 0-3 pts and games where I've put up 24.
I love player lock
I think the zones work fine
I love all the new animations
The new QB pressure system is great
The errant passes are awesome

I have issues with oline blocking for me and dline pressure for me but that's about it.

I can't wait for 7-14 to roll around!

I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of this game!

-User jump snaps - I get these everytime on defense doesnt matter if I'm a safety or Dline. I'm not flicking my stick before the snap either. It just happens.

- I've noticed a balance issue with game planning. On agressive I'm getting 3-4 fumbles a game and 0-2 penalties. Haven't really noticed any benefits of putting it on balanced or conservative.
JTS is a negative couter (Risk/Reward) to the aggressive game planning with the DL. You have the benefit of a more aggressive DL to put pressure on opposing QB and possibly get more sacks, but the risk is you may get more offsides/encroachment penalties.

I agree, after seeing the E3 vids the demo has been a pleasant surprise in my eyes. maybe its b/c I played the heck out of last yrs but I am not having issues w/ robo QB or lack of pass rush etc. There are issues but this game is fun. Im running the ball well waiting for my blocks to mature and mixing up tosses, sweeps and dives.

Stew...have you tried using the engage manuevers before getting locked up by the OL? I did this a couple of times just now and it seemed to work. Could be a fluke, but at least give it a try.

And I agree with everything you said except I'm still trying to get used to the new camera. I liked the old one better, but I'll get accustomed to this one shortly.

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here

to say the graphics are "a complete joke" comes across as you just wanting to complain about something...

my pros:
  • running game, the lanes open up if you follow your blockers
  • passing game, receivers run decent routes and your line usually gives you time to do a couple check downs
  • player movement, seems pretty fluid

my cons:
  • every tackle looks like a horse collar or face mask
  • very easy to over-pursue
  • is there a hit stick this year???
  • Corso and Herbstreet's commentary doesnt match whats happening in the game
  • the player animations are off, your team celebrates after the other team does something positive -- and vice versa
  • the qb sneak is an automatic dive (which can also be a good thing, less likely to get stood up and lose yards)
  • the crowd still looks ridiculous and really generic
  • dont like how the camera pans back so far when viewing your play or when the other team goes in motion (but im guessing that might be adjustable in the production version of the game
)

im sure i'll have more soon...

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here

hit stick is definitely in. I've used it a bunch of times and although i haven't caused any fumbles with it i've made some players get up groggy and i'm pretty sure injured a few.

I haven't tried the qb sneak that everyone is talking about, but my favorite play near the goal line is Florida's QB dive from the 5 wide set. With Tebow i've scored a boatload of tds especially when i've used the PA out of the same formation at other times throughout the game.
