I had a similar experience with the Wii Smash Brothers, I picked it up because of the hype several months after release I think. I was so disappointed that I never turned the console back on and it was still in the drive when I gave it away some time later.

Don't have a WiiU or a Nintendo handheld so until this day it basically serves as last (final?) Nintendo game.

My hope is that in the next couple of years their next console will fix the things that prevented the U from being as successful as the competition and I'll snag the couple of titles I'm interested in this gen.

It and Mario Kart dominate my weekends with friends over. I have over 100 hours of MK8 and I haven't played one second of it single player.

Really want a new mario tennis or golf. I like smash but I would have taken golf or tennis over it.

Both Smash Bros and Mario Kart have always been multiplayer-focused series. That still holds true for their latest editions. Your mileage with either game depends on whether or not you have a regular cast of opponents to compete against. Mario Kart does especially bad at single-player when you consider that Nintendo hasn't added one new solo mode to the game after 21 years and 7 sequels.

Bayonetta 2 is a much better bet if you're looking for a single-player game on the Wii U. Its first edition print run and special edition will also come with Bayonetta 1 on a separate disc.

Well decided to make to make the move and get one, also picked up Smash Bros. Didn't see a smash thread so I'll be monitoring this thread for interested players

Took the plunge and bought the bundle from Best Buy for 350$ w the 4 games. Set up was easy and the console looks great next to my PS4. Super Mario 3D Land is awesome!!
