Just get one of those dual charge stands for like $19 at Best Buy and leave the controllers on there when they're not in use. That's what I do, much easier than fooling around with the cord and all that.

I plug it into my laptop which is right there next to me so I just keep playing while it charges.

I absolutely love it. Haven't had to worry about an uncharged controller in over two years. Amazing.
I've got the exact same charging stand and I love it as well. You can charge up to four controllers with it. That's if you have two spare cables because there's two USB ports on the side of it.

But don't these controllers use lithium ion batteries? What I mean is, won't they eventually drain after having them charge so much, so often? Isn't it best to let it wear down as much as possible before re-charging them again?

I've been using mine for about two years now and haven't had a single problem with it.
