Fast 3-4 punch combos then get out so you don't tire to the point of putting yourself in trouble. Work the ring to cut off those guys who like to stay on the outside.

I had a fight against Indigo that was so strategic. He had a brawler and I had a boxer. I kept rolling away from his power hand and landing jab or jab straights. He kept working to cut the ring off and get my back to the ropes. A handfull of times he managed to put me in a bad position. He got in close and started landing huge uppercuts and hooks. I then did a shoulder push off to make space and roll out into the middle of the ring.

It was frustrating him and was putting me with the advantage. In the 5th or so round I land with a perfect one punch hook to the temple and dropped him for the KO. No count, just lights out. I had a strategy and used it and it worked to perfection.

Weather that is still the same in the build we will all get. My guess is as good as yours.
That's great news. I was hoping it was just indicative of the clips we've been seeing vs. the reality of what the game is. The last game was nothing more than a punch fest. I really hope this game offers more depth in the aspects of fighting.

So you know for a fact that EA reached out to Ward, Martinez, Froch and Kessler??

Back to the footwork topic:
The problem i have with it is the sluggish feel. Like the vid posted by Dave; its footwork, its bouncing on your toes, its hopping in and out, quickly and swiftly, depending on your skills and ratings.

There should be variable speeds. Not this 1 speed bull**** they have now.
The step back and step in, or side step should have more range and have its own seperate ratings.

I'm just passionate about my boxing games man. I've been waiting since 1991 for a better boxing game with a better career mode than Evander Holyfield boxing, and i'm STILL waiting bro.
Phobia you've been great bro, thanks for the info. Hopefully you can pass this information off to them because the game is really soo close to greatness.

Yea vast i have the same issues with the sluggish feel. I did not like it at community day at all and made sure to point it out in my gameplay blog the moment I was able to talk about the game because it is one of those areas that you "feel" instantly and it just does not feel right.

But other parts of the game felt great in my book. The stamina system we played with was wonderful, the punch system was a dream to use, the new damage system looked fantastic.

So while I agree with the footwork point of view and will pass it along. I will send a e-mail this week. Can it be fixed??? Lets hope!

Thanks man much appreciated.

The game can be great, but with a broken movement system its damaged goods.
Footwork is like 40% of boxing, its not all about punching. Its important. So lets hope and pray.

Hagler would corner him and Leonard would burst with punches to his head. It was speed on the side of Leonard, not great footwork.

The most important thing for me is that they lose this lethargic feeling when you are boxing. By the looks of that video, it's still there. That frustrates me. Maybe we'll see something different in the coming months.
Sorry Dave. My main point in showing that vid was to show when Ray wanted to get out of the range of Hagler he did it fast. Based on what Phobia has been saying based on his play I will have to give EA the benefit of the doubt that the mechanic works better than it looks.

I agree that it looks sluggish again. Even in the new Legacy mode video it looks too concentrated. I see what you mean by Ray being elusive. Imagine though if an online cheeser got a hold of that elusiveness..lol

Why are we letting some imaginary gamer ruin our offline experience??

I also stated that having the ref warn for excessive running and then taking points off if it continues is a valid way to counter online cheese.

Also forward speed burst movement should be faster than backward speed burst movement. You wouldn't be able to run for long.
