WWE 2K14 30 Years of Wrestlemania Mode Preview

2K Games has announced the single player mode for WWE 2K14, the concept is 30 Years of WrestleMania. This mode will player going through the greatest matches and unforgettable moments in WrestleMania History.

Speaking to Triple H about this mode he stated, "I'm excited for this, to be partnered with 2K, the future is very bright for this franchise".  There will be around 45 matches through the mode, and 3 have already been announced.  Those matches are:
  • Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant - WrestleMania 3
  • The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan - WrestleMania 18
  • The Rock vs. John Cena - WrestleMania 28

This is just a sampling of the matches in this marquee mode, and further matches will be announced over the next several weeks.  As you can see above, this officially means both Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant join the roster for WWE 2K14. Cory Ledesma stated "This is the greatest roster ever assembled", and the rest of the roster will be officially unveiled on August 17th during SummerSlam Fan Axxess in Los Angeles.

A great amount of time went into the unique presentation of the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode. Every arena from each Wrestlemania is authentic, all the overlay graphics, the crowd, and even the vintage TV screen effects transport you back in time to that very match in WrestleMania history.  The WWE also produced exclusive video packages to refresh some of these storylines for fans who either don't remember or who weren't even around yet for the match in question.  Several matches will have in game cinematic cut scenes to try to have matches flow the way they really did, also historical objectives will help replicate this and all you to unlock many in game items.'

Triple H closed the conference call stating that this mode had to include what he felt was WrestleMania's most iconic moment, Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant.  He was proud that they were able to get these matches back for the old and new fans of the WWE and WWE Games.

WWE 2K14 releases October 29th for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360.

I definitely see there being some shuffling of the same deck of wrestlers to fill out all the WM moments, but hopefully that at least means they'll offer more attires per character. I absolutely loathed the lack of customization options we had for in-game characters last year. Basically it was just changing colors and nothing more. I had to DL my own Randy Savage CAW after the DLC came out just so I could get his classic attires, which wastes a crucial CAW slot. Lame.

What exactly is hard for people when it comes to understanding that this isn't 2K's game yet. They had very little to do with the making of this years edition.

Something stood out to me from a Kokatu article on this mode:

The mode itself ends up defining a large portion of the game's roster.

http://kotaku.com/a-huge-roster-deli...-ww-1108261943

THIS is exactly what I hoped WOULDN'T happen. I'm okay with a large assortment of classic wrestlers, but I'm not okay with it diminishing the current roster of superstars. If it is going to end up being a majority of legends and classic wrestlers, they would be better off making it into two separate games and linking them together like Legends of Wrestlemania and SvR 2009.

I'd compare taking wrestlers away from the current roster to if NBA 2K14 took away the Bobcats, Bucks, Suns, and Pelicans to add classic teams.

Wondering about weight detection with Andre (and rumored Bundy).

Also, will Hogans have "2 slots" or same with alternate attires (as Hogan's moves don't change..but music/entrances would)

I understand where you're coming from but one thing that I think you need to realize is that this was written by a gaming news writer and the fact that there are 45 matches means that of course the legends side of the roster is going to be huge.

Now, if he were to say something like "I noticed a lot of current superstars missing from the roster" or something like that then it would be cause for concern but from the comment it seems like he was possibly just trying to convey how many legends are in the game.

Just my two cents but he isn't a designer of the game and doesn't know if there were current superstars omitted to make room for legends and unless he notices specific guys missing, then no worries.

Yeah, to me.. "The mode itself ends up defining a large portion of the game's roster" means nothing to me until we find out how many superstars are actually in the game.

Don't forget Bundy vs Taker from WM 11.

I wonder if, considering the dire financial situation TNA is in at the moment, they could actually get Angle, the Dudleys and Jeff Hardy into this game.

I know it's probably a pipe dream, but if 2k really wanted them in and offered them enough it would maybe allow TNA to not have to release a wrestler this week.

And I'm not sure it'd be that terrible either for them for people who don't know where those guys went to look them up on the internet and find out "Oh, I can actually still see them on TV."

Obviously they'd still need Matt Hardy, and ROH is a different situation.

Other have mentioned it but I would LOVE to have the Owen/Bret match from X. Don't get me wrong, the Shawn/Razor ladder match was amazing in that one but I feel like that opening never gets enough attention. I liken it to how Macho/Steamboat gets overshadowed by Andre/Hogan. The only difference is that I think Macho/Steamboat was the better match (not by much though) where I think Owen/Bret was a close 2nd to the ladder match. Anyway, I know there is/was some bad blood after his death but I'm hoping something can happen to heal those wounds similar to what I've heard about Savage.

In general, I am pretty pumped for this game. I feel like I'm nearing the end of my gaming career so am looking at annual games as potentially being my last versions. If they can carry over a lot of the Attitude guys (DX guys mainly...), I'd be happy to have this one as my last hurrah based on what I've seen so far.

I mean, it's a pipe dream.. but 2k got Jordan after all those years of him refusing to be in a video game.. so I think anything is possible. I just wouldn't hold my breath.

Also, I don't believe Hardy has a contract with ROH right now. He's being doing a lot of other independent stuff recently, and he's not listed on the roster. Regardless, I doubt they'd put him in without Jeff.

Oh...and I'd love to see Tito Santana in a WWE game. Demolition/Strike Force would be a good way to work him in.

45 matches is a ton, and Im sure between a combo of Hogan/Warrior/savage and Taker/H/Micheals there will be at least 10-12 slots just with those guys alone.
People I would LOVE to see make this roster, but I doubt will :
Haku
Hercules
BIg John Studd
Demolition

Demolition was in a couple of years ago, so I'd be surprised if they weren't in it (if the WWE can't get all the people they want).

TNA still has that lawsuit with WWE I believe, so I doubt any sort of deal can be made.

The bolded ones are definitely going to be in. (The outfits shown were the ones they wore during that match/only WrestleMania match). These are every possibility, so there is a lot more than 45-49 (61 exactly).

We know there's more than 45 matches that could be in the game, but the fact is, 2K said there's only going to be 45.. so we have to narrow it down.
