WWE 2K14 30 Years of Wrestlemania Mode Preview

2K Games has announced the single player mode for WWE 2K14, the concept is 30 Years of WrestleMania. This mode will player going through the greatest matches and unforgettable moments in WrestleMania History.

Speaking to Triple H about this mode he stated, "I'm excited for this, to be partnered with 2K, the future is very bright for this franchise".  There will be around 45 matches through the mode, and 3 have already been announced.  Those matches are:
  • Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant - WrestleMania 3
  • The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan - WrestleMania 18
  • The Rock vs. John Cena - WrestleMania 28

This is just a sampling of the matches in this marquee mode, and further matches will be announced over the next several weeks.  As you can see above, this officially means both Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant join the roster for WWE 2K14. Cory Ledesma stated "This is the greatest roster ever assembled", and the rest of the roster will be officially unveiled on August 17th during SummerSlam Fan Axxess in Los Angeles.

Every arena from each Wrestlemania is authentic, all the overlay graphics, the crowd, and even the vintage TV screen effects transport you back in time to that very match in WrestleMania history.  The WWE also produced exclusive video packages to refresh some of these storylines for fans who either don't remember or who weren't even around yet for the match in question.  Several matches will have in game cinematic cut scenes to try to have matches flow the way they really did, also historical objectives will help replicate this and all you to unlock many in game items.'

Triple H closed the conference call stating that this mode had to include what he felt was WrestleMania's most iconic moment, Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant.  He was proud that they were able to get these matches back for the old and new fans of the WWE and WWE Games.

I can definitely see Taker/Punk being in there. There's no way that they don't get Punk in this mode in some fashion.

This mode will be cool and will bring back memories for the longtime fans. Hopefully the gameplay will be as cool as this is.

Just one more game to crush my wallet this fall. I really like the classic roster so far, I have a hard time playing with CAWs for some reason and now I'll have real Warrior, Hulk, Giant, Macho, and who ever else they add to enjoy.

So is WWE's stance on Chris Benoit is that he never existed?

They don't acknowledge him or his accomplishments, on-air or in products, so any potential matches involving him won't be included. We will have CAWS of him and the other possibly missing wrestlers like Angle, the Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz.

They call the time that he had the World Heavyweight Championship "the time the World Heavyweight Championship went missing".

One thing I need explained.

If they're in the Hall of Fame, can they be freely used without a new contract?

I wonder if this mode would include womens matches?

I'm in love.

They must have HBK/Bret Hart Iron Man. It was a watershed match in WWF history.

I really dig that they brought Hogan on board. Hogan's in, Nash is likely given his roster spot in the last two games, but what about Hall? I'd love to have Razor in, both for his nWo involvement and to recreate Hall/HBK WM10. The inner child in me is giddy.

This may sound crazy, but I think 45 is kind of low.

Here are my guesses:
1) Andre the Giant vs Big John Studd(Body Slam)- WM i
2) Hulk Hogan vs King Kong Bundy(Steel Cage)-WM 2
3) Randy Savage vs Ricky Steamboat- WM 3
4) Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant- WM 3
5) Randy Savage vs Ted Dibiase- WM 4
6) Hulk Hogan vs Randy Savage- WM 5
7) Ultimate Warrior vs Hulk Hogan- WM 6
8) Ultimate Warrior vs Randy Savage-WM 7
9) Hulk Hogan vs Sgt. Slaughter-WM 7
10) Ric Flair vs Randy Savage- WM 8
11) Hulk Hogan vs Sid -WM 8
12) Bret Hart vs Yokozuna(Also the Hogan match afterwards)-WM 9
13) Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon(Ladder)-WM X
14) Bret Hart vs Yokozuna-WM X
15) Shawn Michaels vs Diesel-WM XI
16)Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels(Iron Man)-WM XII
17)Bret Hart vs Stone Cold(I Quit)- WM XIII
18)The Undertaker vs Sid-WM XIII
19)The Undertaker vs Kane-WM XIV
20)Shawn Michaels vs Stone Cold- WM XIV
21)The Rock vs Stone Cold-WM XV
22)The Rock vs Mick Foley vs Big Show vs Triple H-WM 2000
23)Triple H vs The Undertaker-WM X-Seven
24)Stone Cold vs The Rock-WM X-Seven
25)The Undertaker vs Ric Flair-WM X8
26)The Rock vs Hollywood Hogan-WM X8
27)Hulk Hogan vs Mr. McMahon-WM XIX
28)The Rock vs Stone Cold-WM XIX
29)Evolution(Orton, Batista, and Flair) vs Rock n Sock Connection-WM XX
30)The Undertaker vs Kane-WM XX
31)Batista vs HHH-WM 21
32)John Cena vs JBL-WM 21
33)Edge vs Mick Foley-WM 22
34)HHH vs John Cena-WM 22
35)John Cena vs Shawn Michaels-WM 23
36)Ric Flair vs Shawn Michaels-WM XXIV
37)The Undertaker vs Edge-WM XXIV
38)The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels-WM XXV
39)The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels-WM XXVI
40)Edge vs Alberto Del Rio-WM XXVII
41)The Undertaker vs Triple H-WM XXVII
42)The Undertaker vs Triple H(Hell in the Cell)-WM XXVIII
43)The Rock vs John Cena-WM XXVIII
44)CM Punk vs The Undertaker-WM XXIX
45)The Rock vs John Cena-WM XXIX

With Hogan in the game, it gives a slight possibility of Angle being in, but I don't think he will, which truly does suck, since he was involved in some great matches in the mid-2000s(Brock. Eddie, and HBK). Him and Owen at WM X are the biggest misses. Also, with the past, we know they love to have so many different characters for the same guy, and in this mode, there will probably be way too many rematches. Maybe I am wrong, but this is how I see them putting it.

Fix Universe Mode before giving us more fluff.

Whenever I made my initial list, I had 75 matches that I thought should be in the game, haha.. So, it doesn't sound crazy that 45 isn't enough.

They'll probably hold some back for dlc purposes.

I'd think the same thing, but they didn't do it with the Attitude Era Mode, so I doubt they'd do it with the 30 Years of Wrestlemania Mode.. but we are talking about two different companies now.

A good point. However, you have to remember that 2K Sports hasn't been very savvy with DLC in the past either outside of preorder perks.

since they are having "the phenom" edition i expect every match of "the streak" to be in there

I really doubt it as most of the early Taker WM matches were horrible.

Plus there's no way Giant Gonzales makes the roster.
