Five Ways To Make Madden 12 Last One More Week

1. Run a team into the ground

Presumably, the goal of Franchise Mode is to turn a team into a long-term contender. But why not try to do the reverse: create an absolutely horrible team that’s bad enough to go 0-16. It’s not hard to make a team bad in the first year of a Franchise; all you have to do is cut every talented starter. The resulting cap penalties from doing so, though, could make the team pretty much unusable in year two. Instead, try creating a bad team that’s financially stable. Simulate all your games and see how long you can make their losing streak go.

2. Create some impossible players

Think of the way you prefer to play the game and then create some fictional players that fit your style perfectly. Try out some fun player profiles like 6’10” wideouts with 99 jumping ability or 350 pound bowling balls at halfback. Push the limits of the game’s physics and see if you can create the most dominant player ever.

In Madden NFL 12, Tim Tebow is still a Bronco after all.

3. Win a game without passing then without running an offensive play.

By this point, if you’re still playing last year’s Madden, you probably can beat the CPU with little or no effort. But what if you remove half your playbook and don’t let yourself throw the ball? All of a sudden, it’s not so easy, as the CPU (or your human opponent) begins to pick up on the patterns you’re using and to realize that there’s no need to defend the pass. For an even greater challenge, try winning without running a play from scrimmage – you’ll need to rely on your defense and return teams to generate points, or hope that you gain possession of the ball in field goal range.

4. Conduct a fantasy draft with a theme

The fantasy draft at the beginning of Franchise Mode is a little-used feature that offers some entertainment potential. Try drafting only rookies or the oldest available player at the position you’re drafting. Tallest, shortest, heaviest, lightest – use your imagination, come up with a fun drafting criterion, and see what kind of team you can put together.

5. Play an even older Madden game

Every used video game store should have a large stack of old Madden games that cost no more than a dollar or two. For the same price as renting a movie, you can get a few hours of entertainment out of exploring Madden’s past. Find an old version with the maddening (no pun intended) weightlifting mini-game, or go back to when Jamarcus Russell was still useful. Plus, it’s a good reminder that as much as we complain about a lack of progress in the series, things do change.

I see what you did there.

I'll get the new one, but I'm going to keep playing 12 because I have an offline franchise with my buddy that is fun.

I think Gamestop is having a 30% bonus to games towards preording Madden too.
You lost tons of money by not selling it in January and waiting until now to do it. I still say everyone should use Craigslist to sell games...people on there are so much more gullible (or is it fair) in how much they will give for a game unlike Gamestop, who rips you off.

Until 13 is out next Tuesday (Monday at midnight) for me I am playing Madden 2011. Yes 2011 still.

It's been my mission with the Lions to break every career, game, and season record possible with Stafford and Johnson. Also trying to get Suh into the HOF.

I am halfway thru 2012 season (3 seasons in) and only began this over the past weekend. Stafford is up to about 15,000 passing yards for his career. Johnson is shattering TD records. It is a lot of fun.

Suh and Avril have had double digit sacks in each season so far. Suh has had a couple 5 sack games too.

I could make slightly more on craigslist , as I've done that route before, but I am too lazy to wait for responses and don't trust people when exchanging money. Even if I get one dollar for these games, it'll be worth it as they have been sitting in a box for years equaling to 0 worth in my life or future life. I am not a hoarder, nor a collector by any means. And seeing as I got my money's worth in gameplay time already, its time to get something for them.

I don't know if I'll play Madden 12 for the rest of the week. I got the season ticket yesterday, and I want the pre release version of Madden 13 to really blow me away. To do that, I'll be playing Head Coach 09 some.

It's fair, not gullible.

GameStop gives you like $15 for a game and then puts it on the shelf for $5 less than retail.

I also have gotten into an argument with the manager at GameStop a few times when they or their employees try to sell me an open "display copy" of a game as new. No. It's not new. Give me a new shrink wrapped copy. It's not the same.

This isn't a dig or talking down to those, I just never expected that to be a staple in Madden. To each his own.

I feel that the Madden 13 ROSTER UPDATE is worth at least $20 alone lol.

Add in the infinite engine, new CCM, new passing scheme, that's another $40. Boom the game is valued to me for those reasons

Good luck to you all staying in 11 or 12 for another year, I hope you have fun.

For those going to 13 on Tuesday at Midnight or getting the pre-release, let's hope it holds up to our standards.

Either way Go Madden.

I've been playing the demo, Madden 13's demo is more exciting to me than the entire Madden 12 game so I no longer attempt to put in into my XBOX.

Been playing FIFA manager mode, and the DEMO a lot.
TLDR: It's more than just roster editing for most all of us...

============================================

I like he additions to CCM... but a twitter feed isn't worth $60 to me. The game isn't that much better... and it's missing things that I do ALL THE TIME. I have spent a lot of time building my custom playbook and game plan for both offense and defense in Madden 12 and I use it for almost every game [It's a 3-4 defense, so I don't use it for 4-3 teams]

I edit equipment, some ratings, player traits, and so on before starting my franchise, and in the franchise before the start of a new season I make a quick run through to see if players are wearing retired numbers or have their correct number when joining a new team. Sure, guys like Nnamdi switched from 21 to 24 when he became an Eagle, and Aaron Hernandez moved to 81 when Chad Johnson was a Patriot last year, and Peyton Hillis switched from #22 to #40 as a Brown... but those are the rare examples. If I trade for Tim Tebow, I don't want him to wear #16 for the 49ers just because Crabtree already has #15. Maybe I want Crabtree to change his number... or I want Tebow to wear #5. I also don't want to draft some HB, FB, or DB and see him wearing Ronnie Lott's #42.

That kind of stuff bothers me.

I no longer live in the states, but I have some American friends here in Peru who also like to come over and play Madden, and playing Co-op is a ton of fun. We won't be able to start a Co-Op franchise [CCM] in M13.

I am also the guy who wrote the Madden 07, 09, M10, and M11 fantasy draft strategy guides that many people have used over the years. I didn't write the Madden 12 one, and as a result there really wasn't much of one... but the point is that I love fantasy draft as a side franchise mode. Heck I like to have at least two Fantasy Draft franchises. One where I draft and one where I let the computer basically shuffle the league up. That is actually my favorite kind of franchise because it removes all per-conceptions about any team.

Also, because the computer prefers to build 4-3 defensive teams and has no idea how to build a 3-4, I tend to go in and make a separate roster file for fantasy draft, turning 3-4 players back into 4-3 scheme guys. With Madden 13's scheme player trait thingy, I wouldn't have to do that... but there is no fantasy draft so it make it a moot point.

Add me to the camp of who will be sticking with M12. I've already got all rosters set up and ready to go. There's a few players I'll need to switch around (like whoever the Cardinals finally decide is their LT), but for the most part I'm ready and could be well into multiple seasons if I chose to be...because M12 has the customization options to let me do that. I say good luck to everyone going with M13 only because this time next year, you'll be wishing you could change/add/create/edit in the new players to start playing with and get your football fix. You'll be stuck waiting on M14 to hopefully give you the right players and correct ratings you desire, though. Those of us with M12 will have long already had it and will be playing away. True, M12 doesn't have the infinity engine or the new commentary guys or new pass trajectories (things I do like and want)...but the trade off is much more in the favor of continuous replay value whenever I want it.

No offense to anyone hyped for M13, but I do think you should have kept M12 just in case you want early football fixes before your looooonnnnggg wait for M14.

Still not certain if I am getting 13, but I have all of the Maddens I've purchased so I can really go to the well for my fix if I decide not to fall for the hype (it's really hard). I already have a chise ready to go for my Eagles in Madden 12, and a few other AFC chises in their second years (Ravens, Colts, Steelers). I like the idea of totally destroying a yearly playoff and super bowl contender only to rebuild through the draft, problem is I don't like a lot of teams in the NFL (I'm talking serious hate). I think I might take the Panthers and the Jaguars to the big dance.

Honestly never cared about editing. Once you get through season 1, it all becomes "fantasy" anyway. I'll be happy with M13 and on the off chance I'm not, M12 will only be $2.99 by January anyway.

Without editing, though, EVERYTHING that you will have after season 1 is going to be a fantasy, as you can't import players - you won't have the correct names, sizes/weights, you won't be able to control every team's draft pick, ratings will be as random as ever, etc. etc. etc. If that's cool with you, then go for it...but it's another prevention of realism for a lot of us.

# 36 geisterhome @ 08/24/12 04:09 AM
its hard to make madden last 1 week as a whole, lol

# 37 DPM19 @ 10/10/12 09:56 PM
I will continue to play madden 12 until they bring back player editing, create a team, and imported draft classes, or until I can purchase madden for what its really worth (less than $20)
