Five Ways To Make Madden 12 Last One More Week

1. Run a team into the ground

Presumably, the goal of Franchise Mode is to turn a team into a long-term contender. But why not try to do the reverse: create an absolutely horrible team that’s bad enough to go 0-16. It’s not hard to make a team bad in the first year of a Franchise; all you have to do is cut every talented starter. The resulting cap penalties from doing so, though, could make the team pretty much unusable in year two. Instead, try creating a bad team that’s financially stable. Simulate all your games and see how long you can make their losing streak go.

2. Create some impossible players

Think of the way you prefer to play the game and then create some fictional players that fit your style perfectly. Try out some fun player profiles like 6’10” wideouts with 99 jumping ability or 350 pound bowling balls at halfback. Push the limits of the game’s physics and see if you can create the most dominant player ever.

In Madden NFL 12, Tim Tebow is still a Bronco after all.

3. Win a game without passing then without running an offensive play.

By this point, if you’re still playing last year’s Madden, you probably can beat the CPU with little or no effort. But what if you remove half your playbook and don’t let yourself throw the ball? All of a sudden, it’s not so easy, as the CPU (or your human opponent) begins to pick up on the patterns you’re using and to realize that there’s no need to defend the pass. For an even greater challenge, try winning without running a play from scrimmage – you’ll need to rely on your defense and return teams to generate points, or hope that you gain possession of the ball in field goal range.

4. Conduct a fantasy draft with a theme

The fantasy draft at the beginning of Franchise Mode is a little-used feature that offers some entertainment potential. Try drafting only rookies or the oldest available player at the position you’re drafting. Tallest, shortest, heaviest, lightest – use your imagination, come up with a fun drafting criterion, and see what kind of team you can put together.

5. Play an even older Madden game

Every used video game store should have a large stack of old Madden games that cost no more than a dollar or two. For the same price as renting a movie, you can get a few hours of entertainment out of exploring Madden’s past. Find an old version with the maddening (no pun intended) weightlifting mini-game, or go back to when Jamarcus Russell was still useful. Plus, it’s a good reminder that as much as we complain about a lack of progress in the series, things do change.

I say good luck to everyone going with M13 only because this time next year, you'll be wishing you could change/add/create/edit in the new players to start playing with and get your football fix. You'll be stuck waiting on M14 to hopefully give you the right players and correct ratings you desire, though. Those of us with M12 will have long already had it and will be playing away. True, M12 doesn't have the infinity engine or the new commentary guys or new pass trajectories (things I do like and want)...but the trade off is much more in the favor of continuous replay value whenever I want it.

No offense to anyone hyped for M13, but I do think you should have kept M12 just in case you want early football fixes before your looooonnnnggg wait for M14.
I agree with you and it's 3 to 4 years later I still playing M12.

Try playing madden 12 on the wii. Not a good experience haha. Doesn't last a week.

I'm prepping a long term dynasty on both madden/NCAA 12 and madden/NCAA 07. Both have advantages over current gen but not sure which I will start with.

Sounds crazy I went back and played Madden 12 today and IMO the game looks awesome...then I fired up some old sliders I created and it played better than Madden 13 IMO

I may go back and start a quick season over the summer in Madden 12 as I feel as though I didn't get that much time out of it back at that time.

Hey Playmakers. Do you play the games, watch them or do coach mode? I like to either do cpu vs cpu or coach mode. Could you send me your sliders and settings you are using? I'd like to get back into this game as well. For me, this was better than M25. That's the last Madden I purchased - and it was only because it was super cheap at the time.

So was Madden 12 ever topped, or even matched? A couple of years ago after Madden 25 I posted that '12 was the pinnacle of the series. Then I never got around to playing Madden 15 or 16 as I mainly play NCAA 14 for my football fix.

I bought 25 used on the cheap ($12 or so) a few years back. I couldn't get into it. Too many issues. I'm getting the itch to once again play some football, so either thinking about trying M12 again or buying NCAA 14 and seeing how it plays.

Overall, for me, 12 > 25.

I would definitely recommend giving NCAA 14 a try. I'm biased because I'm more of a college football fan than NFL, but it plays a great game of football. Also since it is the last NCAA game it is still heavily supported by the OS community with sliders and updated rosters. At this point I bet Madden 15 is dirt cheap so I may pick it up for my pro football fix. If it sucks I'll go back to '12 but it's getting pretty long in the tooth.

Does anyone have Madden 12 opening week rosterS?

I guess i am back on the M12 train. Had M16 for ps4...it was 'ok' I guess. Now I have M17 for the Ps4 pre-ordered...Lol..guess I'll be selling that as soon as it comes in. M12 plays a good game of football. And, I really prefer the franchise mode. So, I upload one of my roster files to start a new franchise (1972 roster file)...made everything look ole school with madden editor, and then I started changing names and equipment for my 1973 draft and will continue to change draft in each franchise years to come.BTW, I also changed playbooks for each team to reflect the era as well as change coaches names and stadium names. This game feels like football should feel.

Wow, so you're saying M12 for the PS3 plays a better game of football than anything on PS4? That is insane! I've never played on PS4, so I have no opinion on it.

I, too, am going back to M12. What sort of sliders do you use? I remember always trying to find something that worked realistically back when I was heavy into it. Never found anything. I used to get so frustrated with the QB holding onto the ball for so long and the LE racking up 70% of the sacks and the rest going to the DTs. Oh and the crazy leaping LBs also drove me nuts!

Not necessarily saying that is plays a better game of football, just better for me in my opinion. I like the hitting better more so than that barely touching a player and they fall. Football is a violent sport, so the hits should be a reflection of the sport. As far as the LB's go..if you have access to bruteforce and the M12 editor you can edit the LB's jumping ability with mass editing. Takes only a few seconds to do. I have adjusted socks length,DL and LB's jumping abilities as well as secondaries jumping ability. As far as sliders go...that's more of a preference thing.I have 3 different sets, but here is the one I use for my 1972 roster file:
Player Skill:QB acc. 12,pb25,wr catch40,brocken tackles30,run blocking2,fumbles50,reaction time (this is big in the game)98,int 35,pass rush41,block shedding0,tackling 50.
CPU Skill:qb qcc.6,pass block0,wr catch39,brocken tackles25,run block2,fumbles50,reaction time99,int24,pass rush33,reaction time for def.97,block shedding0,tackling38. As I stated earlier is all about preference. Good Luck

BTW, here a little tip: don't do play action to often, the defense will get to your qb quicker. Also, watch the db's on your wr's, if they are looking inward to your offense, they are anticipating the run.

Thanks for the sliders. I do have the editor and used it in the past. What do you set jumping to for LBs and DB? Any other mass edits you make for a specific position rating?

For me I minimize the jumping ability a great deal...LB's and DL use redistribute from 2 to 5...DB's from 5 to 10.

So I understand this correct... You drop LBs jumping ability from anywhere to 2-5 overall? And the DBs from 5-10 overall? Wow, that's a huge drop! I need to try that out and see if it cuts-out the crazy leaping INTs.

Are there any other edits you've made to the rosters to make it play a better game?

Take away the bull rush for all DL and LB's, they don't do nothing but fall down anyway.Personally, I prefer not to use commentary...really what's the point. It's repetitive and boring.I hear enough of Gus when he goes on and on about the super bowl winner. Make sure all your sounds of the game is at 100.This will emerge you more into the game.

Had this file requested hope it opens for anyone that chooses to use it.Its for PS3...all the credit goes to Carl for creating this fantastic file for M25. I was lucky to convert it about 2 yrs. ago for M12. A few things you will need to know....a small amount of players have purple faces and Jim Plunkett is 4'11..lol. I edit someone else to be Plunkett and gave the same attributes to that player. Don't forget in franchise mode your depth chart must be accurate or you will not be able to simulate games. This was my first time doing this, so lets hope this worked. Good luck

I meant edits to the roster file to make game play better.
