Six Fixes for NBA 2K11
1. Fix My Player

The My Player mode had a lot of momentum before NBA 2K10 was released. After purchasing the NBA 2K10 Draft Combine and playing that over and over again, it was a letdown when all of that build up went away when I booted up NBA 2K10.

My Player mode had the potential, but a bunch of bugs ruined any chance it had to be truly successful. Obviously, some of the bugs were fixed in the patches but there is still much to work on.

One thing is that a 64-rated shooting guard should not be starting ahead of Wade or Kobe. Is does not matter that you can cheese your way into triple doubles every night, you should not be starting ahead of either one of them. Also a 5-foot-11 point guard cannot do anything at the small forward position. I would really like to see a lot of time implemented into the lineup adjustments for MY player.

Also can we get some contracts? No more of this one-year contract business before heading off to another team. If you want My Player to feel real, then let me make it real. Rarely does a NBA player play on his favorite team, so why should it have to happen here? Obviously, you should still let gamers play for their favorite team if they want to go that route, but let other gamers like me play for a long-term contract or a small deal where I have to come off the bench.

2. Put Online Play in the Game

I love playing Madden online, why not play some NBA 2K online also? Wait, you mean it is already implemented into the game? Interesting, when the game came out I could barely even play it online, and the online leagues did not even work correctly until after the second patch.

Simply put, fix online play. Let it be playable and functional from the start. The online leagues are a great idea, and with the layout and Web site that come along them, it makes it even more fun to follow them. So whatever it takes, make sure online play is working with little to no hiccups when NBA 2K11 is released.

3. Defense

A lot of people believe that defense was improved this year. Those people are right and wrong. In reality, the elimination of the one-on-one isolation drive before an easy dunk was the only truly major fix. Jump shots are still falling down left and right. Now, I also love the fact that we have sliders, but I do not like spending one month adjusting sliders to finally get my game the way I want it.

Man-on-man defense did take a slight step forward this year as well, but it is still too easy to get a quick shot off. Tighter, more aggressive defense needs to be implemented. Zone defenses also need to be adjusted. The whole point of a zone is to help when help is needed, not to stand there and stare as you see Rajon Rondo fly by for an easy layup.

4. Atmosphere

Atmosphere is something that has been needed for every sports-related game this generation. When NBA 2K9 hit store shelves in 2008, all the hype was around the big bad video that would play after you won the championship. Everyone who ended up seeing that video knows it was not anything special.

For those of you who play full 82-game seasons, it would be nice to experience something different in the playoffs. There needs to be louder crowds, home-court advantage and beer getting thrown on the scorer's table. We all know playoff basketball is a whole new game, so that should shine through when playing in a heated seven-game playoff series.

5. Player Movement and Animations

One thing that has been rather bothersome with past NBA 2K games is the player movements and animations. Too many times gamers see their point guard run in a circle only to get called for over-and-back. There are times when post defenders do not move the right way when going to block a shot. Getting stuck in these animations can almost ruin a perfect game, and since we have not had that "perfect" game yet, tweaking these elements is one way to get closer to the unattainable.

6. Relocate Teams

My bias is going to come out here. Most of you might not even care about this feature, but I can guarantee you that there are plenty of people who would gladly move the Oklahoma City Thunder to a certain rainy city -- having past NBA logos and jerseys for relocated teams would not be half-bad idea either.

There you have it, some things that I think could greatly improve NBA 2K11.

I'd like them to put more effort into team defense. Maybe have schemes and what not implemented into the game. A switching defense would be useful because that's what the Hawks use in real life and it'd be cool if they could add that into the game seeing that they have the 2-3, 3-2, etc.

I know it's "E" for Everybody but put some more emotion in the game.

the arguing would be to random, the user wouldnt have control over this. A better option would be to implement technical fouls, ejections, even suspensions would be with flagrant/hard fouls.

player movement is a mixed bag. at times I think it works flawlessly other times it's just off.

I disagree with defense, I like defense in this game. I see what 2k is trying to do in this game.
close out defense, and transition defense exists in this game. its all about knowing who defends who.
I absolutely think 2k got the defense right. hands up on jump shooters, etc. knowing when to play the passing lanes, etc.

playcalling- they should use voice recognition/voice command.

#'s 3,4, and 5 should be the biggest focuses for next year along with a better playcalling system like Ninja said. Hell improving player movement alone will make the game 10x better to me, its one of the few things Live does better then 2K imo.

JayMizzle...I agree with you! Especially number #4...must needed color palette needed.

Fix the trade logic for CPU controlled teams (fix the constant trading of the same players...i have seen the same trade happen 3 times in one season with 2 teams trading the same 2 players back and forth)

I'd like a more in depth Create-a-Team with the ability to make jerseys that look more like an actual team would look. instead of one central logo or letter, make it with the ability to have the city or team name across it...even if its just generic names and we get to pick the logos

For me the court still felt a bit cramped when compared to Live. It's interesting no mention fixing the player likenesses, after such a bad job was done this year.

Keep Improving the playbook. Let online save your settings and plays before a matchup like they did in 2k9. Also Have ranked lobbies too. We are tired of playing cheaters. it Ruins the game. So if you play your friends or some guys who have a sportsmanship rating, it would improve the online experiance.

If you had the choice of a player who always had a triple double (or just better overall numbers than Kobe or Wade), would you still play them over that player? I would pick the guy with the better numbers! Names shouldn't mean anything with the My Player mode, otherwise no matter how well you play in the game, you'll never be the superstar, and isn't that the whole dream when playing My Player?

Yes please allow a in depth create a team so I can remake the Sonics.

For the love of god, please get rid of the iso motion dribbling or whatever its called now. It is far too clunky and unresponsive. I guess this goes along with improved player movement though.

I have no problem with the defense because you can adjust your team's help defense and stuff like that in coaching profile as well as making sure your team never helps out on certain players by adjusting your pressure in coaching. In fact those of yall who agreed with this garbage @$$ blog are probably Cheezers anyway. Blocking shots is a skill not a right. So if you can't block as many shots then you should probably be blaming yourself not the game. How many blocked shots do you see in a real basketball game? Do you guys even watch real basketball games? If you did you would notice that you only see a few a game and I'm doing way better than a few a game in 2K10. I'm pinning stuff off of backboards like Lebron. Yall should just trade in 2K for your Final Fantasy or Legend of Zelda or whatever it is you really play. This is Operation Sports. Not Operation Cheezer you #4 Jersey wearing Cheez Heads.

Stay classy San Diego.

live's tight control and player movement over isobroken
2K's animation
2K's post game ( best ever)
live s play calling (best ever)
live's athmosphere
2K's little things
efficient online
if mike wang achieve mixing the perfect perimeter game of live with 2K s engine and post game we got a winner

Fix the play-calling, it's too awkward to have to be dead on that bloody little blue circle. There should be more leeway. Also sort out some of the plays that are impossible to run, I had to remove one from my playbook since it involved the center having the ball stationary in the key for a few seconds and every time the play is run you get a 3 in the key violation.

Fix the objectives on My Player. Having an objective to hold your matchup (who ends up being Kobe Bryant) to 2 points over the course of the game, on 12 minute quarters, when you are giving up 6" inches in height to him is ridiculous.

# 36 turftickler @ 02/08/10 11:42 AM
A.I. rebounding on both sides of the fence needs to be fixed. Sometimes players just stand there and look the opposite direction when there is no one in front of the basket except 1 or 2 players.

They should make it so that after a play you can press a button that triggers a argue animation. Something really short like how kobe complains after a foul while walking up the court. If you do this too many times..you get a technical.

You know you don't have to be dead on the blue circle....far from it actually.

I play on the PC and I normally stand about 6 feet behind it and the plays trigger just fine.

Defense definitely needs work. Annoys the **** out of me seeing my guys double poor post players and leave three-point shooters wide open. Stay with your man unless I call for a double.

Chris Paul's jumpshot animation is too much of a set shot and I keep getting jumpshots pasted even though he's excellent at the quick release top of the circle that no one can even try to block, and you shouldn't HAVE to press the right stick to shoot a leaner, jumper, or whatever. If you're running a specific way, they should just automatically let their momentum take the right shot.
