Steveo glad to see you will be something you love. Congrats and enjoy the new job. Looking forward to the morning stuff in the near future for OS.

tril on April 30, 2012 at 11:07 AM.
THAT'S WHATS UP!!! Working for/on something that you are passionate about.for a minute I thought you were about to say that you sold the OS to some other company, which I do see happening.
I can relate to everything you said about jotting down stats from older games, I have notebooks worth of stats from games I played, and even though the new games have great stat tracking I still tend to keep a nice spread sheet of my stats.
For the record OS has been my favorite website/forum for the past 8/9years.
No other sports gaming forum come close to what you all provide. I havent even bothered searching for other sports gaming forums, except for mvpmods and occasionally 2k sports, cause Im a 2k fanboy.
Admittedly, You all were there on my honeymmon, trust me In the mornings, Id go to the business/computer rooms in the hotel and log on just to see what folskw ere posting on 2k. At work all the time also.
Congrats, and hopefully your revenue streams continue to grow.

Congrats Steve! It is good to see you will still be at the helm. I had the pleasure of spending time doing reviews and administration for you in the past, and it opened up so many more options and opportunities from just simply posting reviews and news. Hope the success continues and I will continue to be a faithful follower of OS!

Grats, Steve. Do what you love and love what you do. Hope this remains everything you want it to be and a few of us will help keep it that way.

Nice plot twist! Congrats on living your dream, Steve. As I've mentioned to you in PMs and in my blog, OS was a huge help to me in keeping my spirits up when I was between jobs.

Congrats Steve, always nice to see someone able to work on something they truly care about!

Congrats on getting your dream job! Also a big thanks for all you do. I've only been registered a few years but have followed the site with daily visits for much longer. This place has always made me feel less "alone" in my geeky-ness (it's the internet, who needs real words?) for sports gaming.

Hey that's great. Get to work on your own baby full-time. looking forward to whatever changes you need to make

I'm really excited to see what both titles bring to the table next year. Pressure has never been higher on EA, and I'm sure 2k has held a few tricks up their sleeves in anticipation of the showdown this fall. Now if only D Rose will heal up I'll be really pumped.

The Angels are most likely gritting their teeth now...but I agree, the Angels need to at least trade Trumbo so he can play and become an excellent first baseman.

To be honest I didn't know half the moves till I read the guide and still work on them. Been playing for over 8 years by the way.

baller_of_the_year on April 29, 2012 at 09:05 PM.
The short answer is no.The long as is hell no.
The real question is "wtf are you smoking?" lol

Jay16509 on April 29, 2012 at 07:00 PM.
I would not have given him a 10 year deal, especially considering the fact that the Angels have Kendrys Morales, and Trumbo, who are pretty good first baseman. I think that if I was the Angels, I would have used the money on another quality starting pitcher.

Let's hope for improved netcode next year. Online isn't too bad, but it still lacks the speed and fluidity of offline games.

I have been sick of the flopping since Vlade Divac. The NBA has become La Liga, for crying out loud. It really takes away from the beauty of the game as you are having stoppages every 30 seconds for fouls. I heard a good discussion on this yesterday and one of the guys said the NBA needs to look to the NHL on how to curtail this kind of behavior. The NHL put the foot down on diving and now you can get a game misconduct penalty if caught. The NBA should do the same - make it a technical foul and if a guy gets 5 technicals for flopping he gets suspended one game or something.

ironwork on April 29, 2012 at 12:07 PM.
this is why i write these. not all of us are dumb misguided fans. i love to see constructive arguments, and to see peoples opinion. i wish i did this years ago. i was to worried about looking cool in high school. lol thanks for reading guys i appreciate you all peace.

cdg0219 on April 29, 2012 at 08:35 AM.
Flopping is present in the NBA and the college level. I can't think that the NBA somehow thinks flops are good for their product. Absolutely no one likes watching flops. It's widely understood that the NBA is a money-making enterprise. The fact that they call in favor of obvious flops just shows a complete lack of business sense and incompetence. LeBron acting like he got floored by Carmelo's one arm and getting the call was just disgraceful. In my opinion the NBA should review every game and give retroactive technicals to the truly obvious flops (Tyrus Thomas, I think, and Bosh in last year's playoffs). One thing I do like is that the refs aren't awarding as many free throws...the number of fouls per game is at a 20 year low for many teams.

jersez on April 29, 2012 at 05:46 AM.
I have to agree with @tril and @ironwork, I was planing on writing a blog about this and tips today but I got caught up with the playoffs. I don't think lazy is the appropriate word, I think it's not a big priority, 2k added training camp mode but it really doesn't help. If you really want to learn this game, you'll needed to play a couple of games then head towards practice mode and work on your issues. Also the point about feathering the stick is a major point. da Czar really has game saving 2k12 tips if you look for them. He is the reason why I didn't trade 2k12 in. But I think if 2k did take the time out to show and explain features and not just leave it up to us to discover, they would have a lot of happy costumers. I'm really enjoying 2k12 now, but thats only because I went to practice mode and scrimmage.

jersez on April 29, 2012 at 05:21 AM.
No, lack of competition destroys not just sports but all genre of video games. Lack of competition creatures complacency, I personally liked 2k12, but it didn't take the giant leap 2k11 did, 2k11 was great because of the success of nba live 10 and that EA was close to actually making a simulation basketball game. 2k12 was a really good imo but I feel that it could have used the competition from EA.

2k has qualityEA has good marketing.
Quality won out. so EA has to make an above average title.
Im a 2k sports loyalist so theyll always get my support which equates to dollars. 2k would really have to release a subpar game for me to even think of jumping ship.

statum71 on April 28, 2012 at 10:14 PM.
Ummmm, no......sorry.NBA Live is gonna have a VERY long way to go to catch up.

RUFFNREADY on April 28, 2012 at 08:14 PM.
flopping is here to stay, you can thank the EURO game for that! cheers

tril on April 28, 2012 at 07:36 PM.
agree with RuffnReady and Darrazz.IMO, 2kisnt lazy at all, every few years they realeas an NBA game thats phenomenonal. in between those years, the games are still good.
In alot of ways, I personally think 2k12 was/is better than 2k11. part of the problem with folks is that
1. there wsnt no competitor to compare the game to.
2. the djustments between the 2 may have been a bit much for a lot of gamers.
Next year Im sure 2k will take the best of 2k11 and 2k12, and integrate it into the new features of 2k13.
2k has never been lazy, IMO they have listended to their customers too much. Alot of the the things people complain about in 2k12 were requested by the consumer.
2k sports has never disappointed me. if it wasnt for 2ksports, I probably wouldnt be gaming.

@shadia147 well you have me there! just had to throw the giants into the mix. i think in retrospect the situations are different. i was 6 or so when new york went over to new jersey. my uncle on long island was a jets freak. back when they where active at shea stadium. and he was PISSED!! he passed away god rest his sole. and we buried him with a broadway joe jersey under his suit lol. but for me living in BK and haveing family there, even living on long island for awhile haveing a team in brooklyn feels like home. your right spike is the bench mark for brooklyn. he is in alot of ways an ambassador for kings county. but we both know he isnt leaveing MSG. so its tough dont you wanna have that home team. i dont know. but your 100% right. i thank you for reading. hit me up anytime!

ironwork on April 28, 2012 at 04:19 PM.
@RUFFANDREADY Thank you for reading and yes your absolutely correct. i know who i am routing for. but at the end of the day a good game speaks for itself. lets wait and see brotha!

@nip83 MAN HOW DID I FORGET THE CZAR!!! yeah that guy is very insightful probably the most calculated very knowledgeable, i would love to be a part of his team either eriting tips or blogs. how could i forget him? but still in all i think the guys i have mentioned are very respected in there own right. here i am trying to make a name for myself as well. i never forget the people who came before me. something i also learn in the army. thanks for reading

What I think the license issue comes down to is that the NFL is so big it doesn't care about the product that EA puts out. Where the Nba and other sports do care cause they have smaller fan bases and need the advisertising. The reason I watch the NBA is because of NBA2k. If I had to use Madden as a reason, I would use it not watch the NFL.

nip83 on April 28, 2012 at 09:11 AM.
You forgot about the Czar, this guy has helped a ton when it comes to running an offense and understanding how the game works. It's the same thing every year, around march you get to see new animations, guys labbing "hidden" moves and such.2k never explains things even at a fundamental level like the impact of feathering the sticks on movement,or how to shoot or pass at certain angles. And also how the quality of your controller's stick responsiveness also plays a big role.We are past the up down left right era of video games.

bigsmallwood on April 28, 2012 at 08:18 AM.
2K is not going down because of NBA Live 13. They will be just fine.

Let me ask you a rhetorical question...As a New Yorker, did you feel any less proud of the New York Giants winning the Super Bowl? Considering that they're actually in New Jersey. You can take pride in the Nets if they ever do anything significant. Say "That's my Brooklyn!" All you want.
If you're from Brooklyn, you're still a New Yorker. Just don't trade the Knicks or the Nets for the Suns.
Phoenix is a great city. It ain't New York!
Take pride in the fact that

I totally agree with your point on the lack of tutorials. NBA 2K is so deep that for a newcomer to the game or a more casual gamer the game can be daunting. I actually wonder how many players actually utilise the numerous moves the game offers up.
