I've always wanted to be able to see the comentators and now with Madden 13. I'm glad that they are getting rid of Chris and Gus. Gus really grows on you after you play for a hour or more.I also want to see if Career Mode:Be A Coach? Is any good. I hope that it's similar to Dynasty Mode in NCAA.

I just want to see both games at their best. NBA 2k12 is a good game but a step down from 2k11 in my opinion. I imagine the 2k developers took a well deserved break inbetween 2k11's success and 12s programming. Like I said, 12 is good, but 11 was great. But now with Live 13 on the horizon, 2k has to bring that "killer instinct" mentality back with the development of the next installment. I'm hoping to see improved online (including different difficulty lobbies), more fluid controls, better response time (on and offline), and less bugs upon release. I will rent both games (no pre-orders), and which ever is the greatest among the two, gets my $65. If they are both great games, maybe I will have to do a little OT, and cop both of em.

Congrats Steve, OS has always been one of my fav sites and you are a big reason in which the way you have run it.

aloncho11 on April 30, 2012 at 12:35 PM.
That's a terrific story Chris! Probably the best way to start up this new stage in your life. Congratulations! Best of lucks man! I leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Albert Schweitzer: "Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful."
Congrats again!

Congrats man, very very awesome! Now that you're technically working for the donators, get back to work I don't like seeing my money go to waste.

Congrats Steve for your success and a wonderful site. This site has changed my gaming life between info and interaction with devs to rosters and hints to make great games even better.I grew up (im 29) in the era where video games were gettimg cooler and more popular but the ppl still looked at you as some athleticless nerd who dont date. Its amazing to see how the lines have blurred with both perception on gamers and how realistic games have become. I wish you and the staff continued success

Thanks for the responses guys. It will be an interesting few months leading up to this years basketball releases that's for sure.

Great stuff. I still keep written records of my sports games, something I've done for many years. It's a nice sense of nostalgia looking back through games of old. Some crazy stats too. Although todays sports games aren't perfect representations of their sports they've come along way from some of the crazy numbers that used to get put up.

PantherBeast_OS on April 30, 2012 at 11:14 AM.
Steveo glad to see you will be something you love. Congrats and enjoy the new job. Looking forward to the morning stuff in the near future for OS.

tril on April 30, 2012 at 11:07 AM.
THAT'S WHATS UP!!! Working for/on something that you are passionate about.for a minute I thought you were about to say that you sold the OS to some other company, which I do see happening.
I can relate to everything you said about jotting down stats from older games, I have notebooks worth of stats from games I played, and even though the new games have great stat tracking I still tend to keep a nice spread sheet of my stats.
For the record OS has been my favorite website/forum for the past 8/9years.
No other sports gaming forum come close to what you all provide. I havent even bothered searching for other sports gaming forums, except for mvpmods and occasionally 2k sports, cause Im a 2k fanboy.
Admittedly, You all were there on my honeymmon, trust me In the mornings, Id go to the business/computer rooms in the hotel and log on just to see what folskw ere posting on 2k. At work all the time also.
Congrats, and hopefully your revenue streams continue to grow.

Congrats Steve! It is good to see you will still be at the helm. I had the pleasure of spending time doing reviews and administration for you in the past, and it opened up so many more options and opportunities from just simply posting reviews and news. Hope the success continues and I will continue to be a faithful follower of OS!

Nice plot twist! Congrats on living your dream, Steve. As I've mentioned to you in PMs and in my blog, OS was a huge help to me in keeping my spirits up when I was between jobs.

Congrats Steve, always nice to see someone able to work on something they truly care about!

Congrats on getting your dream job! Also a big thanks for all you do. I've only been registered a few years but have followed the site with daily visits for much longer. This place has always made me feel less "alone" in my geeky-ness (it's the internet, who needs real words?) for sports gaming.

I'm really excited to see what both titles bring to the table next year. Pressure has never been higher on EA, and I'm sure 2k has held a few tricks up their sleeves in anticipation of the showdown this fall. Now if only D Rose will heal up I'll be really pumped.

The Angels are most likely gritting their teeth now...but I agree, the Angels need to at least trade Trumbo so he can play and become an excellent first baseman.

To be honest I didn't know half the moves till I read the guide and still work on them. Been playing for over 8 years by the way.

baller_of_the_year on April 29, 2012 at 09:05 PM.
The short answer is no.The long as is hell no.
The real question is "wtf are you smoking?" lol

Jay16509 on April 29, 2012 at 07:00 PM.
I would not have given him a 10 year deal, especially considering the fact that the Angels have Kendrys Morales, and Trumbo, who are pretty good first baseman. I think that if I was the Angels, I would have used the money on another quality starting pitcher.

SpartanBaller on April 29, 2012 at 04:48 PM.
Let's hope for improved netcode next year. Online isn't too bad, but it still lacks the speed and fluidity of offline games.

maddmattrix on April 29, 2012 at 01:11 PM.
I have been sick of the flopping since Vlade Divac. The NBA has become La Liga, for crying out loud. It really takes away from the beauty of the game as you are having stoppages every 30 seconds for fouls. I heard a good discussion on this yesterday and one of the guys said the NBA needs to look to the NHL on how to curtail this kind of behavior. The NHL put the foot down on diving and now you can get a game misconduct penalty if caught. The NBA should do the same - make it a technical foul and if a guy gets 5 technicals for flopping he gets suspended one game or something.

ironwork on April 29, 2012 at 12:07 PM.
this is why i write these. not all of us are dumb misguided fans. i love to see constructive arguments, and to see peoples opinion. i wish i did this years ago. i was to worried about looking cool in high school. lol thanks for reading guys i appreciate you all peace.

cdg0219 on April 29, 2012 at 08:35 AM.
Flopping is present in the NBA and the college level. I can't think that the NBA somehow thinks flops are good for their product. Absolutely no one likes watching flops. It's widely understood that the NBA is a money-making enterprise. The fact that they call in favor of obvious flops just shows a complete lack of business sense and incompetence. LeBron acting like he got floored by Carmelo's one arm and getting the call was just disgraceful. In my opinion the NBA should review every game and give retroactive technicals to the truly obvious flops (Tyrus Thomas, I think, and Bosh in last year's playoffs). One thing I do like is that the refs aren't awarding as many free throws...the number of fouls per game is at a 20 year low for many teams.

jersez on April 29, 2012 at 05:46 AM.
I have to agree with @tril and @ironwork, I was planing on writing a blog about this and tips today but I got caught up with the playoffs. I don't think lazy is the appropriate word, I think it's not a big priority, 2k added training camp mode but it really doesn't help. If you really want to learn this game, you'll needed to play a couple of games then head towards practice mode and work on your issues. Also the point about feathering the stick is a major point. da Czar really has game saving 2k12 tips if you look for them. He is the reason why I didn't trade 2k12 in. But I think if 2k did take the time out to show and explain features and not just leave it up to us to discover, they would have a lot of happy costumers. I'm really enjoying 2k12 now, but thats only because I went to practice mode and scrimmage.

jersez on April 29, 2012 at 05:21 AM.
No, lack of competition destroys not just sports but all genre of video games. Lack of competition creatures complacency, I personally liked 2k12, but it didn't take the giant leap 2k11 did, 2k11 was great because of the success of nba live 10 and that EA was close to actually making a simulation basketball game. 2k12 was a really good imo but I feel that it could have used the competition from EA.
