Hey Madden Fans!

My name is Jake Stein, a Producer on Madden Ultimate Team, and I have the privilege of writing the first developer blog of the Madden NFL 18 season. It’s such an exciting time as both a developer and a fan of Madden. From the developer side, we can finally see the finish line as all the planning, long hours, and polish are starting to translate into a fun, cohesive game. From the fans side, it’s your time to start getting drops of information about the new game and imagine what your experience will be, come launch night.

It’s also a time where fans love to analyze any officially released information, tweets, or videos in order to predict what Madden might be teasing.

So let’s talk a little bit about what was found by a few internet sleuths – “2-6 Online Competitive Multiplayer.”

This is a special article from guest contributor and OS user Smirkin Dirk.

Australian football. For us Australians, it arouses passions only seen in love and war. For Americans, it is that weird sport that sometimes makes the Sportscenter Top 10. Greater Melbourne has roughly the same population as greater San Francisco, and we sustain 10 professional teams. The teams average between 25,000-50,000 fans per game, and the TV rights to the league were sold for $2.5 billion. 30 years ago, the league was rooted in suburban rivalries with rotting facilities and creditors kicking down doors. It is now a slick, monetized TV product with indoor dome stadiums, kiss cams and analysts using telestrators.

With one glaring exception.

Video games.

This guest post provided by the folks at NBA2kLab, where attributes and badges are tested extensively so you know what's important and what isn't. Be sure to check them out at the link!

At NBA2kLab we have received a lot of questions about which badges are the most important and which can be skipped. We would like to answer all of these questions in one place. Below you will find a tiered badge guide that will split the badges into four categories: Crucial, Commonly Helpful, Situationally Helpful, Don’t Waste Your Time. The order the badges appear within the tiers is not important. This list is for Bronze badges only. Hall of Fame badges should be prioritized every time -- with a few exceptions such as pick dodger, tear dropper, break starter, flashy passer, charge card and chase down artist.

A series of ten detailed playoff simulations in Franchise Hockey Manager 3 has identified the Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota Wild as the most likely candidates for the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. The simulations, with up-to-date rosters, player ratings, and injuries, were run in FHM's state-of-the-art game model, and showed Montreal and Minnesota as clear-cut favorites over the rest of the league; only the Washington Capitals dependably provided serious competition to them.

What’s happening fam. It’s your man Da_Czar with a little extra information to go along with the patch notes.

In addition to the gameplay fixes we also have new tendencies for almost all current NBA players. The only exceptions to this are the players most recently added in the last couple of weeks. We know this is an area in which you guys felt we could improve in and we didn’t want to wait until 2K18 to unleash the new tendency work to you.

On the game-play front we put extensive work into the issue many of you have had with the double teams. It is important that you understand it was not a feature of ACE to have the AI double team so quickly. This was the result of a couple of bugs that we were able to eradicate in both code and data. Initially we thought we had this fixed early on, only for it to continue to be an issue through the development cycle.

The following article is a guest post from Jeremy Hartman. If you are ever interested in doing a guest post or series of posts, let us know with an e-mail.

Every year when the latest iteration of NBA 2K is released, I race home to crack the game open and begin hatching my master plan to make the virtual NBA Hall of Fame. I head directly to MyPlayer mode and decide if my created point guard will be a 6-foot-1 Kevin Johnson clone or the next coming of Penny Hardaway at 6-foot-7.

I really don’t even bother with the other modes. I’m strictly a MyPlayer junkie. The amount of hours I spend in this mode borders on the insane. With that being said, the mode can oftentimes become a grind. The initial story wears off, and you really just continue trying to play games in order to gain new badges or attributes. However, I believe there are some simple ways to make the mode more engaging, and even more realistic. Here are a few ideas that could bring virtual NBA life more in line with reality.

My name is Corey Andress, and I’m the Global Digital Strategist over at Out of the Park Developments, and I’m here today to share our ‘official’ season predictions to celebrate the start of the 2016 MLB season! These predictions are based on our incredible sim engine, and numerous seasons were simmed to assure accuracy. Let’s see what we can get right this year!

Before we get into the fun stuff, on behalf of the OOTP development team, we’d like to say thank you to OperationSports and your amazing community of members who continue to support us on a year-to-year basis. It’s your passion that drives us forward, and we’ll continue to innovate and improve! As a token of our appreciation, and to celebrate what is sure to be an exciting MLB season, we’re also giving away three (3) copies of OOTP Baseball 17 for Steam (PC/Mac) to the OS community!

All you have to do to qualify is to mention who you think will win this year’s World Series in the comments below, and we’ll pick 3 lucky winners by Friday April 8th.

As Out of the Park Baseball 17 continues steamrolling towards release, many have discussed and debated this year’s feature list. Several of these long-awaited additions have pleased the OOTP community, going a long way to appease both the hardcore fan, as well as the casual crowd.

I was asked to discuss a couple of my own favorite features as we approach the March 22 release date, and to share those thoughts with the OperationSports community. This creates a dilemma: I’m quite aware of what crowd I represent. Outside of that audience, who’s going to read this and say, “Oh, that’s what John Comey likes. Good to know?” Heck, I’m pretty sure I’d read it and say, “Who do I think I am, anyway?”

Thankfully, when faced with a bruising of the ego, I can become quite resourceful. In this case, I pinged two of my friends for a roundtable of sorts to see what grabbed them the most regarding the upcoming release.

Thus, OOTP’s originator, Markus Heinsohn, and Matt Arnold, who has become an indispensable developer on the game, were generous enough to give me a few minutes of their time.
