2. Get an Ace

If your team has an ace, then good for you.

No seriously, good for you. You're one of the lucky ones.

But if you don't, do what it takes to get a true ace pitcher. And I mean anything; trade away your prized prospect if you must, because a true ace is worth a lot in MLB 12: The Show.

Ratings matter most when it comes to pitchers in my experience, and in the playoffs it's all about pitching in The Show. Having that one guy that has the ability to throw a complete-game shutout can mean the difference between a top-ten pick and a league crown.

Happy hunting!

What is the most important player you look for in your MLB '12: The Show franchise?

The term farm system taken too literally.

Remember to Always Build Your Farm System

No matter who you are, a strong farm system is the most important part of any club's success. Keep an eye out on your prospects and see how much they progress. These youngsters, coupled with some of your solid veterans, can make the difference in a best-of-seven series.

Also, when you have a very dominate player (Ichiro) on a very lousy team (Mariners), go trade hunting. Find those hidden gems in other club's systems. Make out like a bandit and try and grab two or three prospects -- they could be your future.

Balancing your future needs with present realities is what every great businessman does best. If you are to run a great MLB: The Show Franchise you'll learn this balancing act quickly.

Share your own tips on managing your farm system!

April 16, 2012 – Today, EA SPORTS announced former Heisman Trophy winner Barry Sanders (RB, Oklahoma State University), has been selected by fans to join the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III (QB, Baylor University), on the cover of NCAA Football 13, which hits retail shelves on July 10. Sanders was selected by fans as part of the NCAA Football 13 My Heisman Cover Vote contest, which put the power into the hands of the fans to decide which college football legend would join Robert Griffin III on the cover of this year’s game.

The NCAA Football 13 My Heisman Cover Vote contest kicked off on March 12, with a competitive bracket-style tournament on the EA SPORTS NCAA Football Facebook page, pitting eight former Heisman Trophy winners in head-to-head matchups. During the three week-long tournament, fans had the power to choose which player would advance to the next round and get one step closer to gracing the cover alongside Robert Griffin III. Sanders pulled ahead of former University of Georgia running back Herschel Walker in the final round to earn the coveted honor of becoming the NCAA Football 13 cover athlete. Other former Heisman Trophy winners in contention included former University of Southern California running back Marcus Allen, former Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie, former Ohio State University running back Eddie George, former University of Michigan wide receiver Desmond Howard, former Florida State University quarterback Charlie Ward and former University of Houston quarterback Andre Ware.

Handheld gaming has never been a viable source for sports gaming. Numerous iterations of Madden has tried and failed on many of the platforms, from the old school Gameboy to the recent 3DS. To many, sports gaming has been nonexistent on handhelds for years.

Now, everything has changed.

With the release of MLB: The Show 12 on the Playstation Vita, gamers now have a source of entertainment to take with them on road trips that closely matches a game's console counterpart. By playing almost exactly like the brother version on the PS3, The Show has exceeded the expectations it was forced to bear.

Total immersion is all gamers want these days. They want accurate stats, seedings and signings. Well, what better way to experience this total immersion in an MLB game than completing a 162-game season? It's one feat that many, even our staff writers, struggle with.

So staff writers, have you ever finished a 162-game season?

People love to reminisce on the finer things in life. Unfortunately, though, many of those things are in the past and rarely ever come back. Well in the sports gamer's case, two of the finer things in life made a dramatic return in the past year. EA Sports released new versions of NBA Jam and NFL Blitz. While both games are rather fun to play, Dustin Toms and Jayson Young have differed in their opinions on the nostalgia of the two games.

For some strange reason, for the first time in my life, I was excited about a game from the WipEout series. WipEout 2048, one of the Vita launch titles, does plenty to impress. The game uses the new system’s technology to a tee, and adds in plenty of fun twists and turns as you race your way through the future.

WipEout 2048 is your typical racing game, but this time you’re in a futuristic setting. Imagine a new-age F-Zero game, or Hydro Thunder without the water, and you get the new THQ racing title.

Sales of NBA 2K12 look to be well below last year's record-breaking totals. By all accounts the NBA Lockout, plus a less than enticing effort, has given many gamers enough reason to not fork over $60 for the game this year. Given the end of the lockout and the reintroduction of accurate and up to date rosters, should gamers who passed up on the game initially take a look at the game one more time?
