Stephen Strasburg- RHP, San Diego State:

After becoming the ace of the 2008 Olympic team, and being the only collegiate player on the squad, Strasburg opened eyes to many scouts across the league. As a freshman at San Diego State, Strasburg took on the closer’s role, shutting down 7 games, and maintaining a solid 2.43 ERA, while holding opponents to a .141 average in his 25 appearances. The 6’4” 220 lb junior then made the transition to starter as a sophomore. In April of last season, ... Read More

I have listed approx. 30 of the top draft choices.....I used various sources in compiling the list. The order in which I listed them is by no means an accurate representation of when they may go in the draft. You will notice that Stephen Strasburg is not listed.....he will no doubt (in my opinion) be the #1 choice overall and is (also my opinion) much further advanced skill wise then those listed below, I will feature him in his own write up in the near future after studying a number of sources ... .......I have listed most of the remaining Free Agents from both the AL and NL teams..... some have been signed..most are still available. There are a few "names" that I would have expected to have been signed by someone, to a minor league deal if nothing else....Richie Sexson for example...granted he had a very subpar season with Seattle, it was rumored he suffered from some vision problems and a sick child that was more than a problem in regards to concentration, the vision situation ... I have watched a couple of games the Yankees have played in their new stadium and find it quite interesting as to how the new seating arrangements have affected the flight of the ball when hit deep into the right-center / right field areas. The following article talks about that....... : After the Yankees spent so much money on pitching for starters CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett in the offseason, pitching figured to be one of their strong suits this season. However, a prevailing wind current ... Read More

After 6 innings this kid has sat down 11 straight, we can't hit this guy....same problem as last night against Jackson....I hope this isn't a trend......Silva needs to keep his sinker down in the zone, when he starts missing high the hits come easy....

...whatever Don Wakamatsu is selling. After years of watching leadoff doubles to start an inning.. only to see the runner still standing on second at the end of the inning.....no attempt to sacrifice the runner at all....I am digging what I am seeing from the Mariners....not AL ball, not NL ball...not small or big ball....just good solid smart baseball.....I am liking this....

An Oakland error followed by some clutch hitting and another decent bullpen performance and the Mariners win their 3rd straight. Yeah...it is only the first week of the season, but that is not what is really important at this stage, what is important, is how they are winning. This season (so far) they are doing the small things, the things that one would expect a Major League team and Major League players to do routinely and on a day to day and game to game basis, you know....the small things ... Seattle just let a comfortable 5-1 lead slip away...the offense has gone MIA since the second inning...part of the problem, other than the lack of offense is the pitchers being unable to find...and stay near the strike zone....Ok....I am going to try and put a positive spin on this, besides the obvious..."its only the first week of the season"...perhaps we can "see" the trouble spots more clearly now....maybre it will help us identify the things we need to work on....alright, 7th inning and I am ...
