Big Papi gets the good wood on the ball, as he drives his 7th homer on the year out of the park!

The Grandy Man and everyone else is admiring his blast at Fenway! *Look for the tiny, and white dot right above the "P" in Park.

Alfredo Aceves roughed up as the Yankees fall to the Red Sox.

The Yankees worked overtime last night, but it was the Red Sox who eventually won the AL East contest 7-6, in 10 innings. Dustin Moseley, working in extra innings, took the loss, allowing 1 run in 4 and third innings. Curtis Granderson launched a big home run and knocked in 3 runs to provide the offensive firepower.

Joe Girardi was asked after the game about his team's efforts."It's no mystery why we lost today. We didn't score more runs than the Red Sox."

The Yankees look for another road win in game 2 of the series tonight, but it won't be a walk in the park: the Red Sox starter is Josh Beckett (2-4, 3.53), their ace, who will work against Phil Hughes (1-0, 1.47).

New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman had this to say,"To be quite honest with everyone, I was pursuing Cliff Lee way before I ever traded for Roy Oswalt. Cliff had gotten injured, and it was too soon to tell how serious it was.

Jack Zduriencik was eager to do another deal with me from last time as I acquired David Aardsma from him previously. Cliff Lee will complete the rotation and it should be solid for the rest of the season."

Seattle Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik had no comments on the trade.

Cliff Lee had this to say,"The Yankees have been making a lot of early moves this season and I honestly didn't think I would be pursued after getting injured early on. But that sure didn't stop them. Just like the previous players who have been traded for said, we are coming to a great winning organization.

I shouldn't have any problem fitting in, as I now will get to pitch with my friend C.C. Sabathia. I hope I will be able to help this team a great deal, and bring another championship to New York. And if I'm resigned in the off season, hopefully I could help bring a lot more."

Curtis "Take It Back" Granderson robs Nolan Reimold of a home run!

Brian Roberts still showing that he wants to be in contention for the Gold Glove, with a gorgeous turn on the double play!

New York squeezes out victory over Baltimore.

Tonight at Yankee Stadium the Yankees were able to put enough runs on the board to beat the Orioles, 4-2 the final. Andy Pettitte gave up 1 run and 4 hits over 6 and a third innings of work, and that was good enough for him to record his 5th win of the season, and 5th in a row.

Giving the offense a mild boost was Brett Gardner, who went 2-for-3 on the day.

The Yankees travel to Boston for the first game of a 7-game road swing, as Phil Hughes (1-0, 1.47) gets the nod against Clay Buchholz (1-2, 3.95) under the lights at Fenway Park tomorrow.

Adrian Beltre hopes to add to his 10-game hitting streak.

Fair or Foul? A.J. Pierzynski was wondering the exact same thing!

New York drops one to Chicago and their always solid right-hander Freddy Garcia.

It could have been worse for New York - but not much worse - as the club suffered a HUMILIATING 14-4 loss to Chicago in front of 50,435 fans at Yankee Stadium yesterday. Giving the offense a boost was Alex Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with a solo home run.

Javier Vazquez (1-2) was roughed up in defeat, as he only pitched 3 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits.

Big Gun C.C. Sabathia (3-1, 3.27) will get the nod for the Yankees tonight at Yankee Stadium as the club begins a series with the Orioles, while Kevin Millwood (2-1, 4.13) gets the tough assignment for Baltimore.

Nick Markakis hopes to add to his 11-game hitting streak.

Someone please give Robbie Cano a Gold Glove, as he turns another beautiful double play!

A.J. Pierzynski was very proud showing off the ball after making an amazing catch behind the plate!

New York finally loses, snapping 3-game winning streak with loss to Chicago.

The Yankees lost a tight contest with the White Sox last night, with Chicago picking up a 4-2 victory on the road. By the time things were settled, starter Phil Hughes was out of the game, though he did earn a quality start by allowing 1 run in 6 innings of work. Closer Mariano Rivera was smoked for 2 runs in relief, coughing up a save opportunity and taking the loss out of the bullpen.

Curtis Granderson collected 2 hits -- including a home run -- and 2 RBI in 4 at-bats to spur the offense. Joe Girardi took some questions from the media after game and was not too happy, he said,"I know I'm supposed to tip my hat to the other team or something like that, but I'm just too ticked we lost the lead late. You can tip your hate if you want, but I'm not moving a muscle."

The Yankees and White Sox wrap things up tonight, with the Yankees sending Javier Vazquez (1-1, 6.35) to the hill while Freddy Garcia (2-1, 4.43) will toe the rubber for the White Sox.

Mark Teixeira had to stretch all the way out to make a nice catch at first!

Yankees win at home to seize 1-0 series lead.

The Yankees whipped the White Sox 10-3 last night before a crowd of 52,325 excited fans at Yankee Stadium. Leading the way offensively was Francisco Cervelli, who had 3 RBI and 3 hits in 4 at-bats. Andy Pettitte threw 5 and a third innings of work, allowing 3 runs and 4 hits, but it was good enough for his 4th straight victory and 4th of the season. Joe Girardi discussed his team's performance, he said,"Gavin Floyd's a tough right nobody likes to face - unless it's our hitters, because we beat him today"

The next game of the series is this afternoon, with Phil Hughes (1-0, 1.46) going for the Yankees and John Danks (2-2, 5.11) scheduled to start for the White Sox.

New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman had this to say,"As I might have proved earlier, I'm not afraid to make the early moves. I go with them as I see fit, David Aardsma will surely help the back end of our bullpen tremendously this year. And that is the exact reason why we got him. Jack Zduriencik had a thing for two of our pitching prospects, so he got exactly what he asked for."

Seattle Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik had no comments on the trade.

David Aardsma had this to say,"I'm not sure that every closer would be happy with losing their job and becoming a setup man. But I feel good about myself that I was wanted and chosen to come to a great organization. I truly have no problem with setting up for THE GREAT Mariano Rivera."

Jolly Old St. Nick showing off his vertical jump after hitting his home run!

With a beautiful throw from Gardy, Jorge is able to get the tag down in time to get the speedy Adam Jones!

Orioles can't hold late lead, lose to Yankees.

The Yankees were able to put enough runs on the board last night, winning 7-5 over the Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Nick Johnson carried the club, going 3-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI. Entering the game while tied, David Robertson held things in check long enough to earn his 1st win of the season, firing off 2 innings while allowing no runs on 1 hit in relief of C.C. Sabathia.

Nick Johnson took some questions from reporters after the game. He said "Our motto around here is never say die, and we did just that today folks."

The two teams wrap up the series tonight at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, with probable starters being Roy Oswalt (0-2, 4.50) for the Yankees and Brad Bergesen (1-1, 4.70) for the Orioles.

On a beautiful throw from Swishalicious, A-Rod is able to put the tag on Miguel Tejada's hand on a very close play at 3rd.

Mark Teixeira always giving his all on defense as he saves an error.

Rough start to road series for Yankees, who lose game one to Orioles in Baltimore.

New York played Baltimore tough on the road, but they were on the wrong side of the 6-5 decision last night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Mark Teixeira slugged a home run and drove in 3 runs, going 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the offense. Joba Chamberlain, who gave up 3 runs and 3 hits in 2 innings, took the loss in relief, as he failed to protect the score he was entrusted with. Skipper Joe Girardi was asked about the game, and had this to say,"Out bullpen wasn't sharp today and the Orioles took clear advantage."

Game 2 is tonight, and Baltimore fans must be nervous about their team having to face Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia (3-1, 2.25), who will be opposed by Kevin Millwood (2-1, 3.22).

A-Rod reaching over into the Angels dugout to make a spectacular catch! Good thing he didn't fall over, I don't think he would have gotten much help!

Gardy caught Bobby Abreu sleeping on the base paths, as he threw a rocket to get him out!

Yankees drub Ervin Santana for 4 runs in the win.

Today's afternoon's tilt between the Yankees and Angels was a close one, with New York eventually coming away with a narrow 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Alex Rodriguez smacked a solo home run and went 2-for-4 to carry the offense. Roy Oswalt wasn't bad allowing 3 runs over 6 innings, but all he has to show for it is a no-decision. Coming into a tie game, Joba Chamberlain was able to stick around long enough to snatch his 1st win of the season, as he allowed 1 run and 3 hits in 2 innings.

Following the contest A-Rod was interviewed, and he had this to say about his team,"Our motto around here is never say die, and we were able to put that theory into practice today."

The Yankees are going to be in Baltimore tonight to open a series with the Orioles, with Phil Hughes (1-0, 1.46) and Chris Tillman (2-1, 5.93) scheduled to start game one.

Robbie Cano with a magnificent turn on the double play, to avoid the oncoming traffic of Aybar!

Gardy showing some skills as he is able to use his speed to range back and make the catch at the wall!

Bobby Abreu with a run saving catch, but in the end it was not enough to stop the Yankees!

In a non-divisional contest, Yankees earned the win.

Playing under the lights at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, the Yankees scored enough runs to beat the Angels, taking a 4-1 decision. Andy Pettitte gave up 1 run and 4 hits over 6 innings of work, and that was good enough for him to record his 3rd win of the season, and 3rd in a row. Curtis Granderson was a spark plug offensively, picking up 4 hits in 4 at-bats.

The two teams wrap up the series this afternoon, with Javier Vazquez (1-1, 6.75) and the Yankees set to take on Ervin Santana (1-1, 5.40) and the Angels. Erick Aybar hopes to add to his 17-game hitting streak.
