NBA 2K13 has a lot going for it as a game, not the least of which is the incredible 'build your own career' mode via MyCareer that 2K13 offers.
As our own Steve Noah put it, "It just has to be MyCareer."
However, it's interesting to note the staff vote on the Best Game Mode was actually quite split with the winning mode getting three votes out of our panel of ten staffers. Simply put, there was a VERY ... Read More

One of the biggest thing missing from sports video games is the ability to take your experience and all of your hard work with you when you switch games -- in fact that's something which has been missing from all games for quite some time.
With the rumor of the week being that Nick Saban is leaving Alabama for a return to the NFL after this season, it makes me wonder just how far away we are from being able to do ... Read More

Today's fact sheet announcement from SCEA has MLB: The Show fans ready to rock and roll....mostly.
At the very least, I'm impressed with the additions mentioned -- especially considering the Vita version of The Show looks to be quite fully featured indeed, as we have heard and suspected for awhile. Here's my quick takeaways:
Real Ball Physics Will Be Awesome -- There will be some quirky bugs, but it'll be

Well OSers, I have to admit, Day 2 was a mixture of the good, the bad and the ugly. As for how the workouts went, I think today's were pretty similar to yesterday except you could take away basketball and add in soccer. I worked hard, burned some calories and had what I would consider a good set of workouts. The bad is that the ankle is bothersome for me right now, no EA Sports Active tomorrow means I'll be doing a lot ... Read More

Ok, I made it through day one with no real issues. The ankle had some issues on a few Yoga poses, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. My EA Sports Active 2 workout was solid -- the mountain biking in the midst of the workout was actually pretty tough. However, there were a few workouts I just couldn't get working right. I just had to skip over those after doing them the best I could without the game registering ... Read More

It's been a couple of years since the fitness game genre has really come to prominence with Wii Fit and EA Sports Active. Yours truly has really ignored these games because I already had a fitness plan and didn't really care to try them.
However, either by sheer curiosity or divine inspiration I have decided to take on both EA Sports Active 2 and Wii Fit Plus to see exactly how both products help with fitness or

I just wanted to send along a note from the guys at OOTP Developments that Out of the Park Baseball is coming to a PC near you in the very near future! Also there is an important note on pre-orders I think everyone should be made aware of!

Here are a few more tidbits on the current legalese action going on in California over the current NCAA Athletes lawsuits against the NCAA:
- There are numerous suits working their way through the courts right now. A quick Google and database search brought up several similar cases to Keller's, including a suit by former Rutger's QB Ryan Hart.
- Claudia Wilken, the judge in the O'Bannon vs. NCAA suit, combined the claims of the Keller lawsuit into the O'Bannon case in the ruling issued last

In my second and final portion of my gaming in the recession series, we are going to look at what the effect of the 30% drop in video game sales is going to have on development of current games.
The first and most obvious thing that happens when revenues drop in business is that expenditures also tend to drop to compensate so you can maintain a profit. If the declining sales become the new normal, studios will begin cutting back on positions which aren't necessary to see games completed. ... Read More

Each new version of NCAA brings the eventual adjustments to how you play NCAA in order to keep up with the competition. Here are a few things I have had to do to keep things moving solid:
- You have to decide earlier when to pitch on option plays. Last year (and every NCAA before it) I would simply pitch the ball at the last second. You can't draw defenders in anymore and then pitch.
- Even more so than last year, you can't use speed burst all that often if you want to have a successful

OS's review is coming up at midnight tonight, so if you are on the fence and are waiting for some reviews to come out, stay tuned!
However, I want to provide a little bit of a preview of what's coming. As you may know, we publish three positives and three negatives in our reviews. I have stated these in some form in my impressions already, so this won't be new, but something else to get you through your work day:
+Gameplay is the best yet.

I have to share this story of my game against Ohio State, as I think it demonstrates how an A team will play against a D+ team.It almost seemed like tOSU was completely unmotivated to play us in the middle of their Big 10 schedule. We jumped out on them with our offense and surprisingly took at 13-6 lead into the half thanks to several tOSU miscues. I'm not sure if there is a motivation attribute or something, but it definitely felt like they did not want to play us at all. I knew ... Read More

Many are wondering how many passes, etc. the computer calls. So here are some hard numbers to chew on for my games so far in dynasty and one play now. The first number is the number of times the computer called a running play and the second number is the number of times the computer called a passing play:
14/16
9/31
32/35
18/25
17/30
12/31
19/26
I will say the computer isn't stupid. In a situation where it should have ran (late close ... Read More

What in the world? I picked the wrong year (last year) to play as Georgia Tech!
Many have asked about the Flexbone and I figured it was worth a blog all it's own. The Flexbone this year has undergone many changes, including eight new formations and much more accurate plays within.
I'm personally a huge fan of the changes, as the game now accurately represents the Flexbone offense. Plays such as the QB Iso, Wing Reverses, FB Dives, Options, and play action passes are handled ... Read More

I have the game in hand, here are a few impressions from my first five games:
- Pass Rush is definitely an issue. If your DL isn't any good, you will get zero pass rush which IMO, is way unrealistic since everyone gets a pass rush...just sometimes not that effective. If your DL is good though, you will get a pass rush.
- Sliders definitely have little effect on the game. I know there's a patch coming, but it's definitely hurting the experience right now.
- Quarterbacks are way too
