What happens when you try to accurately simulate a sport with a complex array of moves and actions?

Since I've last had a regular blog on OS (aka before I took most of this past month off to pursue a few other projects) there has been a lot of things happen in the sports gaming world which can be best described as big ticket items.-Most recently the Backbreaker demo was released and the game actually didn't suck. I almost feel bad for having skepticism about Backbreaker...almost.
After a few games, I can honestly say I think Backbreaker will forever change how we look at sports games, even though the game itself is going to make me have one of the worst love/hate relationships I have had in quite some time.

Many of you know I am a strong supporter of mobile gaming, especially on Apple's App platform since it's just so darned big. As it turns out, I'm not the only one who loves the App Store. This is Tecmo Bowl.
In literally every sense, this is Tecmo Bowl. If the game had the real players and teams from it's inagural season, I could've swore this was the same game. And while in gaming, that's usually considered a bad thing, in this instance, it's mostly good.

I can't help but feel we are due for a pretty special year in Sports Gaming. Here are approximately three reasons (I counted them last night and it came to 3 at least) why sports gaming could be simply awesome the rest of this year:- Top Flight Titles are Coming into their Own -- Say what you will about any of the top flight titles out there right now such as Madden, NBA 2K or MLB: The Show. You can say how some might be getting stale and how others haven't realized their full potential

I can't shake this bad feeling about Backbreaker. I really want the game to be something special to give gamers at least somewhat of a choice when it comes to their football games. But I just can't shake the bad feeling I have about the game.

Out of the Park Baseball 11 is by far my favorite baseball game this year, not an easy feat for a guy who has loved playing the actual games since Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball on the SNES. But I just can't help it, OOTP 11 is like an addictive drug mixed with your own personal theme park.
