Is it time for “The Other Guy” yet? Stuck
Posted on October 9, 2012 at 01:33 PM.

Another week passes and, surprise, it’s another Jets’ loss.

On a national stage on Monday Night Football, the Jets lost again in a narrow defeat to the undefeated Houston Texans. The Jets were competitive throughout, but sealed the 23-17 loss with a Mark Sanchez interception in the fourth.

At 2-3, Rex Ryan might not be ready to pull the plug on his starting quarterback. As long as the Jets are within the AFC East, and currently they’re only a game back, Sanchez’s job will probably be safe against Tim Tebow.

However, is it time to just give Tim Tebow a chance?

Mark Sanchez might find his situation very similar to Kyle Orton. Six weeks into the season last year, Orton was benched after consistent and horrible play. When Tebow filled in for the Broncos, he went 7-4 as a starter to lead the Broncos to the playoffs.

Tebow, to be fair, had his fair share of ups and downs. Besides the media circus that was ESPN, Tebow played awful down the stretch to put the Broncos at an even 8-8. However, his performance against the Steelers showed flashes of brilliance.

Regardless whether you think Tebow will be a viable starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez hasn’t been any better.

This season Sanchez’s completion rate is at a league low 48.4 percent. He’s struggled in all areas of his game from getting the ball to receivers to red zone efficiency.

Perhaps what makes Sanchez the most Orton like is his predictability to fold. How many people saw the interception to Kareem Jackson coming?

If there is one thing Tim Tebow has going for him, it’s the aspect of unpredictability.

Tebow led the Broncos to game winning drives and miraculous comebacks, one that Mark Sanchez experienced firsthand. Teams now might have the solution for him, but that’s not entirely known yet.

The cloud of mystery over Tim Tebow on the Jets has got to go, and so does Mark Sanchez.

Do you think Tim Tebow should start? Let us know in the replies.

In a recent Sports Illustrated survey, they found Tim Tebow to be the most overrated player in the NFL, and Mark Sanchez to be the second most overrated player. What can the jets even do at this point?
