Is it time for “The Other Guy” yet? Stuck
Posted on October 9, 2012 at 02:33 PM.

Another week passes and, surprise, it’s another Jets’ loss.

On a national stage on Monday Night Football, the Jets lost again in a narrow defeat to the undefeated Houston Texans. The Jets were competitive throughout, but sealed the 23-17 loss with a Mark Sanchez interception in the fourth.

At 2-3, Rex Ryan might not be ready to pull the plug on his starting quarterback. As long as the Jets are within the AFC East, and currently they’re only a game back, Sanchez’s job will probably be safe against Tim Tebow.

However, is it time to just give Tim Tebow a chance?

Mark Sanchez might find his situation very similar to Kyle Orton. Six weeks into the season last year, Orton was benched after consistent and horrible play. When Tebow filled in for the Broncos, he went 7-4 as a starter to lead the Broncos to the playoffs.

Tebow, to be fair, had his fair share of ups and downs. Besides the media circus that was ESPN, Tebow played awful down the stretch to put the Broncos at an even 8-8. However, his performance against the Steelers showed flashes of brilliance.

Regardless whether you think Tebow will be a viable starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez hasn’t been any better.

This season Sanchez’s completion rate is at a league low 48.4 percent. He’s struggled in all areas of his game from getting the ball to receivers to red zone efficiency.

Perhaps what makes Sanchez the most Orton like is his predictability to fold. How many people saw the interception to Kareem Jackson coming?

If there is one thing Tim Tebow has going for him, it’s the aspect of unpredictability.

Tebow led the Broncos to game winning drives and miraculous comebacks, one that Mark Sanchez experienced firsthand. Teams now might have the solution for him, but that’s not entirely known yet.

The cloud of mystery over Tim Tebow on the Jets has got to go, and so does Mark Sanchez.

Do you think Tim Tebow should start? Let us know in the replies.

PGaither said it best:

The Jets took the Jets to 2 AFCC games. Not Sanchez. Sanchez played an important but small role in their play off success. Those two Jets teams were built on the running game and good defense. Last year and this year they have neither.
Saying Sanchez took the Jets to two AFC Championship Games is like saying Rex Grossman took the Bears to the Super Bowl, or that Trent Dilfer won the Ravens a Super Bowl.

They could start Tebow and hopefully the shake-up will jump start things, or....

They can spare Sanchez's feelings/pride, let him keep starting and go 4 - 12.

Aside from the fact the Jets depth at WR was razor thin to start the season and has been thinned even further, and the O line has played shockingly bad, Sanchez has been the focus... He hasn't played great, but the offense as a whole hasn't played well. No real running game... Tebow ins't going to fare any better.

its interesting that ppl keep saying Tebow wont do any better. how do you know? thats exactly what the broncos thought last year too and, whaddya know, a playoff win. Thats why you do give Tebow a chance. Sanchez, as i said before, was doomed from the start; he was never developed properly and now his confidence is shot to hell. put Tebow in there, if you believe the Jets season is down the drain then it cant really get any worse

I enjoy non jets fans, tell us jets fan, that sanchez is not the problem. Let me trade him for your qb... Nope you wont do that will you. The jets d still keep the offense in the game on monday, and gave them the ball with 3 minutes to go down 6, and mark throws a pic. Mark is the worst starting qb in the NFL, has no pocket presences, and routinely throws terrible picks.

The future of the jets isnt on the roster currently, however as a jets fan i am tired of watching mark sanchez play qb. He last 4 games. At Pit, Mia, SF, and texans was the worst 4 game stretch i have ever witnessed from a professional qb.

So non jets fans, please spare us jets fans, the its not sanchez fault bs. Prime example, the jets lost by 6 on monday, and sanchez could of saved his job, but he throws the ball out of bounds on the Cro bomb.

Is tebow a great qb nope, am I tired of having to wait for mark to play scared and blow the game YES!!!!

Simple Stat: career 300 yard games

Sanchez 5
Rg3 2
Luck 3

Mark had plenty of time on Monday night and still missed wide open receivers, still throw a costly int before half time, missed a wide open Cro on a bomb he throw out of bounds. Still throw a ball too high for Cumberland too catch.

Mark is the reason the jets are playing bad. Worst start to a season since j Russell. Lowest completion % of any qb in the nfl when given time to throw.

Yeah, it has to be #TebowTime by now. I just think Rex knows he'll be fired at the end of the year and a captain will go down with his ship and the first mate.

Am I the only one who noticed that on the picture for this blog, on the forum's main page shows tebow's number as 17?

Where did the cover picture of him wearing 17 come from?

The Jets owner is a Social Conservative. The only reason Tebow is a Jet is because the owner bought into the Messianic Myth that is Tim Tebow. Tebow will be annointed the Savior of the Jets by the owner very shortly, probably against Rex Ryan's wishes. But of Course, Ryan probably isnt too long for the job anyway.

No, still too early in the season to even ponder about doing this.

Absolutely Tebow should get a shot. The shame is NY doesn't even have to start him, they could just play him an entire series here and there to see how he does, but they haven't even tried that. Do not doubt Tebow, he might not make it look pretty but he will win more than Sanchez and will inspire his team in the process.
