AND THE LOS ANGELES KINGS HAVE WON THE STANLEY CUP! Wow! Amazing playoff run. Came back down 3-0 against Chicago to go on and win. The team's ability to bounce back after losing is amazing. Down 2-0 in Calgary series to come back and win 4 games. Forcing game 7's and coming out on top! Both Tampa Bay and LA were 6 seeds. I had home ice for only the Finals. Simon Gagne lead the team in goals with 9 during the playoffs, Doughty with 13 assists, Kopitar with 16 points and Scuderi with +7. Quick was 16-5 with a 1.68 GAA and a .945 SV%. Amazing. Already knocked off one goal and looking to continue moving forward and possibly repeating as the Stanley Cup Champions! 2012-2013 Season next!

Draft went pretty well. Could have maybe been a bit better, but hopefully some of these guys will still grow since they're 17 or 18. I picked up that draft pick from Edmonton at the deadline, and it paid off. Got the 3rd overall pick and selected Yakupov. Really wanted Grigorenko, but selected him in my last GM mode. Would have picked a guy named Pontus Aberg who turns out pretty good, but I wanted a lefty lol. Time to resign some guy and start the next season!

Another early knock out... I am just going to sim until 2020 probably, and then start playing. I won't update much, just major stuff from 2015-2020, because it will take too long to continually update.

Alright so here is where I stand right now. Currently I am playing the 2016-2017 season. I am 1-4-0 so far, don't know if it's road play (I always seem to struggle on the road) or just haven't been playing much or what. Just won 3-0, so that is a good sign, and this 5 game road stand to start the season is over now.

Couple of young guys who are contributing and I have expectations in are:
Thierry Comtois, a FA signing who is a C PLY at 81 overall. He is 23 years old 6'2" 188 lbs and has B- B- B- potential. He has all 84-86 for offense and mostly 82s for all defense. Athleticism is all 80-85.

Nick Ritchie is a 79 overall LW PWF. I drafted him 6th overall in 2014 and he is now 20 years old at 6'2" 215 lbs. He is really an amazing depth player, at least in my opinion. He has potential to be a shut down player on the 3rd/4th line. He has all mid 70s for offense and all UPPER 80s for defense (89 89 88 92 86 89 87 88). I may have to place him at center with an 86 face off rating, very good. His athleticism is pretty good as well, with 83 speed. He is a big body and is definitely a key part to my defense for my bottom 6 players and my penalty kill. He has B- A B potential. Amazing player.

Jordan Tkatch, selected 14th overall in 2015 by the Kings. He is a 78 overall C TWF with A C- C potential. He is 23 years old, 6'2" and 205 lbs. Yeah, the C- isn't looking good, but the offense is. He is there to be a bigger body and hopefully provide some depth scoring with his 86-89 for all offensive skills. His defense is all lower to mid 70s though.

Alex Carnevale, a 3rd overall pick in 2013 by the Kings. He is now 79 overall as a LW SNP. He is just 21 years old at 6'2" 175 lbs. He has B A- B potential, which makes him a solid all around player. His offense is only in the 81-85 range, which I hope will get up to mid to upper 80s. His defense though is pretty good, all 82-87 and he still has A- potential as a sniper. Also his athleticism is all 83-86.

Joel Hamilton, a 25th overall pick in 2014 by the Kings. He is 81 overall and a LW PLY. He is now 22 years old and 6'2" 180 lbs. He has B C- B potential, which doesn't make him the greatest but he can provide some offense. All 82-85 for offense and mid 70s for defense. He has 85 speed and can be a great depth scorer.

Vincent Marcoux is a 24 year old 6'2" 171 lbs LW PLY. I signed him from the FA and he now has B C B- potential. Marcoux is a good depth player, 4th line usually. He has upper 70's for defense and mid 80s for offense. Just wish he was a bit better on defense, but he can always improve.

I've got some other people in the minors, but they aren't really contributing to the team atm. Some of these players are also on defense, including Kenton Helgesen. He is now 80 overall and still has B B B- potential. He could be a solid 3rd line defensemen or better in the future. Might call him up sometime during the season for some NHL experience. Another guy is Ville Pokka, a real stud on defense, or at least potential to be. He has all upper 70 to lower 80s for offense, and mid 80s for defense. He does however has B- A- C potential, providing a possible shut down defensemen on the 3rd line eventually. Goalies right now are pretty strong. I have an 84 overall backup for Quick in the NHL, still with A- reflexes and that player is Austin Smith. I also have 2 guys in the AHL, both at 83 overall. Their potentials are B C- C and B- B- B-. No franchise goaltender, but still a decent backup.

I know that the players mentioned above who play on my 3rd/4th line are not very defensive. As 3rd and 4th line players, you want some good defense. However, I feel that if I can get enough scoring I can win. Also these guys can still developed and are being trained defensively. I have a few guys I can toss into the mix and juggle lines at the bottom in order to see the most effective depth lines. My team overall is 100, with 100 at off, def and goalies.

After that it was all LA, as Drew Doughty (2) blasted his first and second goal of the season (assists to Murray and Brown on the first goal and Murray and Carnevale on the second). With 40 seconds to go in the 3-1 game, Tampa pulled their goaltender and Baptiste (1) was able to score on the empty net (assist to Kopitar and Yakupov). Then, late in the 2nd period, Ville Pokka (1) blasted one from the point giving the Kings a 2-0 lead (assists to Springer and D Brown). Chicago came back early in the 3rd period with a goal from Toews (3). However, the Kings answered with a goal from Yakupov (2) just 2 minutes later (picking up the assists were Kopitar and J Brown). Then Yakupov (3) netted his second goal of the game into an empty net (from Stafford and D Brown). In overtime, Brassard scored for Columbus with just 2 minutes remaining, giving them the win.
