This is my new lineup. As you can see, a lot of new guys. Cap room is an issue. I just signed Doughty and Quick, and they are both at around 11M deals. So the younger guys are now taking over. Many have developed well, and the guys who are just 83 overall are usually strong defensively. I have a lot of hope in Baptiste, I feel he can be a star for my team. Also Kobasew is a big body PWF who can be an effective 3rd line player. Quick is now 97 overall and a start goaltender, leading the team to their 2nd Stanley Cup last season. I am now going to play this season, without simulating. I am not going to focus so much on draft picks now. However, I did trade away people like Mike Richards and others for picks. I needed the cap space and wanted younger guys>older ones.

Looks good so far. Love the signing of Michael Granlund, at WORST, he is a very tradable asset. A Nice playoff run there indeed.

Also like that you drafted Sean Callaghan, but he is an OFD now?? I've always had him as a DFD and he has been a great shutdown guy for me (had him on my old Colorado one I accidently saved over as a 94 overall, then in Tampa as a 90 overall)

# 3 Hooterz @ May 16
Hahaha tbh, I don't know. My tv is bad and old, since my other one broke. So honestly, I can't even distinguish between OFD and DFD which is why in my previous posts I would never put the defensive player type unless it was TWD =p. He probably is DFD haha.

# 4 Bloop33 @ May 16
Oh lol, I thought the game ruined him for me. Makes sense, I can hardly tell the difference on a good TV anyways.

Haha xD. Just won against Calgary in game 2 of the first round. My offense isn't producing much I am being terribly out shot, and was lucky to win that one on a goal by Penner. Won 2-1. Might play some more later or tomorrow.

# 6 Bloop33 @ May 16
haha, at least you have Quick, he can keep your team afloat with a weak-ish offence. I'm sure it will turn around though, Calgary is just a frustrating team to play against. Good luck in the series though!

I'm about to sim through my Tampa Bay season, me and my roommate just won the cup on his Columbus final, and want to try it with my team before I move in a few days.

Nice man and goodluck. It sounds like a lot of fun to have a roommate to play nhl 12 with haha.

# 8 Bloop33 @ May 17
haha thanks, just posted stats up to the Deadline.

And yeah, it can be. Last season he wound up fighting with my top sniper with 7 minutes to go in a game we lost 1-0, I wasn't impressed with that, but for the most part, I find going through a playoff or season with someone else makes it a little funner. Sort of like having people give their input on this site also makes it a little funner as well.

Yeah, it's nice to discuss haha. Get better too and such. I'll check out the update.

Looking good so far, like the young guys you've drafted, hopefully many of them develop into good players for you!

# 11 Bloop33 @ May 17
Not to mention, the FA signings, you've got some big time steals! Lucas Kralik is a beast!!!

I started to play the 2017-2018 season I think it was. I traded away Bernier and my backup right now is 84 overall. He is Austin Smith, just a guy I signed in FA but he had A- for reflexes and he grew like 8 overall this past season. He still has his A- I think. I'll actually update later today of the players I drafted, at least some. I have one amazing defensive forward that I drafted, he has mid to upper 80s for his defense and has an A- for it still. Another guy has A C C potential or something, and is a stud on offense already with all mid 80s. Like the way they play too, signed Steen last season and I also signed Marcoux again from FA, and I also like the way he plays and he is on my 4th line.

Like the make-up of the team. At least at this point, when you're still in kind of a transition between veteran players and young players, winning a cup is probably not the main goal for the team, so getting all the young guys experience will help. So far it's looking very similar to my early Boston team with personnel (no post's of the ultra-offense teams on these forums). Like I said, loving the early make-up of the team, and just going off what I've read, I assume in 2-3 seasons you'll know who is a legitimate NHL player and who just doesn't fit on your kings team, by then maybe you'll have a few more defensive guys (even if it's just centermen) for the bottom 6. I'm very interested in seeing the development of guys like Alex Carnevale (had him on Tampa, only traded him because I got Dimitri Svitov), Nick Ritchie (love powerforwards), Kenton Helgesen (Favourite D-man in Tampa), and Ville Pokka (Like you say, potential stud). Have to like that your back-up has A- reflexes too, as that is by far the most important statistical category for a solid netminder.

So far, looks really good, hopefully your season will turn around for you, if not, guess some young guys will get their chance!

Haha yeah, I'm hoping it will. I am playing on new sliders as I couldn't find the post of the old ones I played it, so it might have an effect. Still playing on Superstar though. Last GM mode I was like 20-10-2, so I know I can win on superstar. I have to look at my guys ages, but I may be thinking about trading away some older guys for younger talent, before their potential goes down. Some guys like Mike Richards. That is all I got really. Got about 3 defensive prospects I am hoping to place into the lineup at some point. My defense has been pretty solid though. I mean in the past 7 games, I am 2-5. However, It's been like 10 goals for an 12 against, so not like I'm getting blown out. Most are 1-2 goal games because of an empty netter as well. Quick is also maintaining about a 1.6 GAA and .917 SV%. So I am hoping the season will turn around soon and start heading in the right direction. At least it is early on, right? xD

Also, really considering movie Ritchie to like 3rd or 4th line center. He is like 86 overall for faceoff I think, and is a stud on defense. His offense is only upper 70s low 80s, but he can get better. I think he is one guy I want to keep around for the PK and such. The other guys I will just have to rotate in and out until they earn a spot on the lineup.
