This is my new lineup. As you can see, a lot of new guys. Cap room is an issue. I just signed Doughty and Quick, and they are both at around 11M deals. So the younger guys are now taking over. Many have developed well, and the guys who are just 83 overall are usually strong defensively. I have a lot of hope in Baptiste, I feel he can be a star for my team. Also Kobasew is a big body PWF who can be an effective 3rd line player. Quick is now 97 overall and a start goaltender, leading the team to their 2nd Stanley Cup last season. I am now going to play this season, without simulating. I am not going to focus so much on draft picks now. However, I did trade away people like Mike Richards and others for picks. I needed the cap space and wanted younger guys>older ones.

I would agree with that, Ritchie seems like a player who will solidify the bottom 6, and may crack the top 6 at some points (I suppose he is still young). Trading Richards or someone could be a good move, although, I might move a guy or a pick for a few depth players, to hopefully make a playoff run. Guess it's all up to your vision of the team though, but I'm assuming playoffs is definitely the goal.

# 17 Hooterz @ May 18
Yeah, playoffs are definately a goal. Players like Brown, Kopitar, Richards, Doughty, Volchenkov and Quick can lead me to a good play off run. I do need more depth though, I agree. I typically like to have younger guys in my depth spots. Situation like Carnevale playing 2nd line left wing as a sniper, isn't the best but it's all I got. I have no snipers really, but you could say Yakupov is. He has all 90s for offense pretty much. I might sim still, not sure. I said 2020 was the year I was going to sim to beecause I wanted to play with my developed players =p. So I might just sim tonight and update this in a bit, just got bored of simulating lol. I'll see. I agree though, I am not sure why I always feel the need to draft. I guess keeping just my first at least would be good, then maybe trade away a 2nd or 3rd which can be valuable. I'll update this later and show my progress/year. I am just rambling now xD.

Also what a fail. This game generated a player with the same exact name as Voynov, first name and everything. I got asked to pick him up on waivers haha. Thought the cpu was giving away my guy!

# 19 Bloop33 @ May 18
Haha, I had that happen with Colin Wilson in my Boston GM Mode. Plays the same position, is the same height, is only 3 lbs lighter, and shoots the same way. So confusing, because Nashville's Wilson was way better (just retired).

Even if you want to trade the depth away for picks at the Draft, then it gives some young guys an extra year, plus solidifies your team a bit more this year (the poise rating seems to have a big effect on how players play). All you have to do is make sure the guys you pick up have multiple year contracts and you'll be able to get something back for them if you choose to trade them.

I will keep most of my guys, but I just need my younger guys to develop. Comparing my team now to my first couple years is different, because then I had older veteran depth players, and now I have younger guys, still growing. Entering the deadline now, I am 40-16-7. I played Smith (backup G) for like 11 games straight, and he went 10-1 I think. That's great haha. Quick is now a 94 overall I believe, which is amazing. I'll let you know what happens during deadline, draft, playoffs and off season. Hopefully players progress and such

# 21 Bloop33 @ May 18
Wow, impressive turn around to be 40-16-7! Seems like a stellar goaltending duo. look forward to seeing it.

# 22 Hooterz @ May 18
Also I have a question. Guys who are like 6.0 OFF 6.5 DEF AND 6.5 ATH, why are they projected top 10? Their interest is high, but then the guy behind him is 7.5 6.5 7.5 and projected first round. Should I go for the top 10 picks or the guy with the higher off, def and ath?

# 23 Hooterz @ May 18
Also, 2nd in GFPG, 1st in GAPG, 3rd in PP%, 1st in PK%, nice 52-23-7 with 111 points. Still no presidents though, was beat by 2 points.

# 24 Hooterz @ May 18
Draft didn't go too well. Also had to get rid of Volenckov. Atleast I didn't feel like putting 5m into him when he is D- potential. My younger defense men grew in overall so I am going to give them a shot. I also signed some RFA, including Daniel Asham, a TWF C at 78 overall. He is 23 and has B- A B- potential with 92 face off rating. Gave up a 3rd round pick for him. Also 82 overall Linden Springer who has B- A- B potential. He has upper 80s for defense and mid to upper 70s for offense. Another possible shut down defense men for me. Had to give up a 2nd for him, but it's worth it to me.

# 25 Hooterz @ May 18
New lineup is
Yakupov 92 Kopitar 91 Brown 90
Carnevale 81 Richards 89 Hamilton 83
Marcoux 81 Asham 78 Ritchie 81
Tkatch 79 Comtois 81 Trafford 80

Sbisa 87 Doughty 93
Helgesen 81 Springer 82
Brown 83 Pokka 82

Quick 95 Smith 85 (Now B C B but still a solid back up)

# 26 Bloop33 @ May 18
Wow, I really like the signings of Springer and Asham, both look like they will be solid players for you in the future.

How did the playoffs go?

As for the draft, usually I go with the 7.5, 6.5, 7.5 guy, but usually they don't have quite as high potential, but high enough that either way, the player should be able to wind up the same overall.

# 27 Hooterz @ May 18
Oh, the post must have never went through. I was knocked out by St. Louis in the first round -.- haha. They went on to the cup finals and lost. Seems like every year when I get knocked out first round that team goes to the cup finals. Also got another guy, forget if I drafted or signed in FA, but he is I think 77 overall with B B B potential and a PWF. Yea, Nicholas Baptiste 22 year old 6'5" 203 lb RW PWF. Amazing. He has potential there to be real solid 2nd/3rd liner. Also Fred Kobasew, A- B- B- 76 overall LW PWF picked him in the 7th round. Wow what a big kid lol. 21 years old 6'4" 244lbs! WOW LOL. Nick Moutrey is 22 years old 6'2" 217 lbs RW TWF 76 overall. B- A C potential. Another great defensive guy.

# 28 Hooterz @ May 18
Just finished 2017-2018 season with 48-28-6 record. Lost in the 3rd round to Chicago. My AHL team won the Calder though. Pretty happy with the season. Almost made it to the finals again and my AHL team won.

Just entered the draft. I have 3 first round picks. 3rd overall, 26th and 28th. Drafted Brandon Stafford, an 18 year old LW TWF at 68 overall. B B B potential. Brandon Keefe 28th overall with B B B- potential, a 73 overall D man. That is really everyone notable. Remind you I had no 2nd, 3rd, or 4th pick.

# 29 Hooterz @ May 18
I had to get rid of Barker and Voynov for some cap space and I didn't need them, so I picked up people from Calgary. I got a first round pick, Nicklas Ohlund who is 6'5" 218 lbs 19 years old A B B potential 72 overall RW TWF. Forgot who else I got though.

# 30 Hooterz @ May 18
Quick is now 96 overall, Gibson 86 and Smith 86 (Smith still B- C B-) Going to look to trade one of them. Also I'd say my team is pretty much set. Just let them grow a little. Though I do have quite the TWF/PWF lineup... maybe a lack of scoring. Might trade a couple of them for a decent sniper or something. I really want Baptiste and Kobasew to gain overall soon so I can play them in the NHL. Those are some big boys there..
