ORLANDO DRAFTS TWO GUARDS
Orlando, FL (AP) - With both Jameer Nelson and Chris Duhon leaving the team, the Magic looked to pick up some depth at guard in the draft. They did just that by picking up a shooting guard and a point guard. With the last pick in the first round, Orlando took N.C. State standout Cory Coleman, a guard with some height. Coleman stands at 6'7", which should give him an advantage over a number of shooting guards in the league. He has a lot of work ahead of him to get any playing time, but there is some promise. Coleman has good speed and a decent jumper. He has had a tough time staying out of foul trouble in his college career.
With the last pick of the draft, Orlando selected Wayne Washington, a 6'1" point guard from Arkansas. This one will need a lot of work. His shot needs some work, and he needs to improve his ball handling skills if he's going to get any kind of time going against other point guards in this league. Washington has good speed and can shoot off the dribble at a decent clip. He's also a guard that likes to go on the attack and isn't afraid to work the pick and roll.
Overall, a couple of decent prospects, but right now, they are much more projects than anything else. Don't expect either guy to see a lot of playing time.

CHAMPIONS!!!
Happel Buzzer-Beater Nets Team's First Title
Happel and the Magic celebrate an NBA Championship!
Los Angeles, CA (AP) - A season full of magical moments ended with one as well, as a last-second shot by Mr. Clutch, The Captain himself, Brian Happel, propelled Orlando to an 84-82 victory and the first NBA title in franchise history. "This is unreal," said Happel on the court just after the buzzer sounded, "Every kid dreams of this! Hitting the game-winning, buzzer-beating shot that wins you the NBA championship! Are you kidding me?"
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: HAPPEL'S GAME WINNER
The Lakers fans knew Happel wasn't kidding. Even though L.A. tied it with 7.2 seconds left in regulation, there was still a sense of dread at the Staples Center. There was plenty of time left for Happel to work his "magic" - and that he certainly did, taking the pass from Gilbert Arenas at the top of the key, dribbling to the right elbow, crossing it back to get into the left side of the lane, and hitting a ten-foot jumper as help arrived just too late with 0.3 seconds left on the clock. "We drew the play up to give Brian the ball at the top of the key and let him create. We knew he'd either get a good shot off, or find someone else to get a good look, and he knocked it down," said head coach Stan Van Gundy.
Another angle of Happel's heroic shot, putting the Lakers on ice
Happel finished with 40 points and 20 rebounds, and to nobody's surprise, was named NBA Finals MVP. Still, in the post game press conference, Happel had plenty to say about his teammates, giving them all the credit, "There are 12 guys here that busted their behinds to make this happen. I feel like if even one of us didn't do our part, that things might have turned out differently. I honestly believe that."
When he wasn't scoring, Happel was finding his teammates and giving them good looks all night
Orlando had to withstand a furious comback by the Lakers. The Magic held a 13 point lead going into the fourth quarter, seemingly poised to turn the final frame into a coronation of sorts. But, Los Angeles fought back and would just not go away. It was one of the rare times Orlando struggled to put a team away this season. It was also one of the rare times the Magic just didn't have the touch from the floor. Their shooting was just flat out bad. Orlando shot 41% overall from the field, only connected on 1-11 from behind the arc, and went just 17-27 from the charity stripe. "We almost gave that one away," said Dwight Howard, "But, we did make just enough plays, and Brian was just absolutely clutch, and now we can CELEBRATE!!!"
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: HAPPEL THROWING IT DOWN ON THE LAKERS ALL GAME
One area the Magic continued to dominate was on the boards, outrebounding L.A. 58-36. However, the Lakers also forced 15 turnovers, another factor in keeping this one close. The win meant redemption for Orlando - which lost 4 games to 1 in the NBA Finals against the Lakers three years ago.
Happel and the Magic "D" blocked any chance L.A. had of coming back
So, now Orlando fans can finally celebrate. They've gotten close several times - twice with Shaq, and again with Superman. But ultimately, it was The Captain who piloted this ship to the promised land. There are sure to be plenty of moves to consider and watch over the offseason. But for now, the fans and the team can bask in this final "magical" moment in a season that's been filled with them!
Happel outshined Kobe in every way, leading the Magic to a 4 game sweep in The Finals

ONE WIN AWAY!
Defense wins championships, and plays like this have Happel and the Magic one win away from a ring.
Los Angeles, CA (AP) - It wasn't officially a must-win, but the games will be from here on out for the Lakers. Orlando managed to pull out another road win 105-98, putting the team on the verge of a championship. This one was a lot closer than the previous two games, particularly in the second half. The Lakers actually went into the fourth quarter with a one point lead, and L.A. kept hanging around even when Orlando took the lead back. However, the Magic once again outperformed their opponents in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Lakers 37-29 in the final frame. Orlando forward Brian Happel was expecting L.A. to put up a good fight, "We knew they'd be giving us their best shot. We managed to play really well at home, and we expected them to do the same. But, we kept battling too, and in the long run, were able to make just enough plays to win it."
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: Fast-break Reverse, Kobe rejection
Happel was a star, once again. He was just one assist shy of the first triple-double of his career. As it was, he scored 39 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and dished out 9 assists. Happel handled the ball a lot more than he had done in quite some time, and he managed to find the right balance between scoring and getting his teammates involved. "He just makes such good decisions and is so smart offensively," said head coach Stan Van Gundy, "We wanted to give them a different look offensively, and I wanted the ball in Brian's hands more, anyway." All five Orlando starters scored in double-figures, and the Magic also got some good bench play, including from Mack Bledsoe, who scored 9 points in just 6 minutes of action.
Nobody could get in the way of Happel or the Orlando offense
Kobe Bryant certainly came to play in front of the home crowd. He had his best game of the series so far, scoring 36 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. But, once again, his team fell just short. The front court has struggled against Orlando. Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum played better than they had in Orlando, scoring a combined 24 points and grabbing 20 rebounds. But Ron Artest, pivotal in Game 7 of the NBA Finals last year against Boston, has been virtually non-existant in this series. On this night, he only had 10 points on 4-10 shooting.
Again, the Lakers get a taste of team defense from Orlando, here Happel gets the block, but 3 defenders are ready.
Shooting was the big story in this one. Orlando outshot Los Angeles in every phase of the game. The Magic hit on nearly 50% of their attempts from behind the arc (7-15), while the Lakers only hit on 28% (7-28). Free throws were also a difference maker. The Magic did not miss any of their 18 foul shots, while L.A. only connected on 11-17. Los Angeles now faces the dreaded 0-3 hole, one that nobody has ever come back from in NBA history, and only 4 sports teams have managed the accomplishment, three in hockey and one in baseball. L.A. will try to survive in Game 4 on Wednesday night at the Staples Center.
You can't leave Happel that wide open, he'll burn you every time.

ON FIRE!! ORLANDO UP 2-0
Orlando, FL (AP) - It just doesn't get more dominating than this. Last night was just another magical moment in a season full of them for Brian Happel and his Orlando teammates. Seriously. Words can't describe Happel's performance. I wanna be like Mike? How about, I wanna be like Brian? The stat line is just not fair. 55 points. 19 rebounds. 24 of 28 from the floor, 5-6 three-pointers. Oh yeah - and the Magic beat up on L.A. once again, this time 118-94, to take a two games to none lead in the NBA Finals.
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: HAPPEL WITH THE DUNK-FEST ON THE LAKERS
Orlando has been so good - it's made virtually every opponent look like a high school j.v. team. Blowout after blowout. And what's amazing about all of this, is how quickly the Magic can turn it on in the second half. You think you're in it at halftime, maybe even leading. And then, BANG! Orlando is like the Road Runner - beep, beep - and gone in an instant. The Magic hit on 55% of their shots in Game 2. Los Angeles connected on just 43% from the field. The Lakers were held to just 25% in the fourth quarter. If you're losing late in the game, you can pretty much forget about it. Orlando outscored L.A. by 17 points in the final frame. Between Game 1 and Game 2, the Magic have outscored the Lakers 58-31. With that kind of performance, nobody has a chance to comeback.
Happel was on fire from the very start, connecting on the first of 5 three-pointers
It once again was a record breaking night for Happel - who surpassed two of his own Orlando playoff highs he set during the Eastern Conference Finals against Miami. He made 24 field goals and scored 55 points, both resetting the bar. "It's something to be proud of, for sure," said Happel after the game, "To be up there at the top of the list of some pretty impressive players that have been here before me is a great honor. Now, I just hope I can stay hot and turn that into some wins for this team." But, it wasn't just Happel. Dwight Howard had another great all around game - 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists - not to mention 3 steals and 2 blocks. Jameer Nelson was huge off the bench, scoring 17 points. And Gilbert Arenas had a good all-around game as well, scoring 11 points, grabbing 6 boards and dishing out 9 assists.
Even when the Lakers thought they had Happel cornered, he managed to score the bucket
For the Lakers, it's back to the drawing board as the series shifts to the Staples Center in Los Angeles. L.A. is in serious need of some home cooking. Kobe Bryant still got his 26 points, but Orlando held him to 10-27 from the field. Gasol had a strong game, pouring in 20 points and cleaning the glass 9 times. But, Los Angeles has to find a way to stop all that firepower from the Magic, or the series won't be leaving Tinsel Town.

ORLANDO STEPS ON GAS IN SECOND HALF, BLOWS OUT LAKERS
Orlando, FL (AP) - The Magic have shown all season what a great fourth quarter team they can be. Last night, it was no different. Orlando turned a close game at halftime into a laugher in the fourth quarter, beating Los Angeles 105-88 to take a 1-0 advantage in the NBA Finals. The Magic outscored the Lakers 57-38 in the second half. It was still just a 7 point lead for Orlando going into the fourth quarter. But, the Magic used a 15-6 run at the start of the final frame to pull ahead, and it was never close after that. Happel credited his teammates for their all-around effort after the game, "Such a great all-around game for the team tonight. It's so rewarding to see what this team can do when we're all on the same page."
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: HAPPEL FROM BEYOND THE ARC
Happel wasn't too shabby either. The Orlando forward scored 36 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, and dished out four assists. Center Dwight Howard had a great all-around performance. He scored 21 points and collected a game-high 17 rebounds. He also anchored the defense with 4 steals and 3 blocks. Brandon Bass added 16 points on 6-8 shooting from the field. And, John Salmons played well from the 2 guard, scoring 12 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.
Happel and the Magic seemed to be just a step ahead of L.A., especially in the second half
The Lakers had five players score in double figures, including Kobe Bryant with 26 points. And, Jason Kidd nearly had a triple-double, scoring 14, getting 7 rebounds and passing out 9 dimes. However, it just wasn't enough to keep up with Orlando. The Magic managed to shoot 53 percent for the game. Again, the fourth quarter was the defining moment, with Orlando connecting on 66 percent of its shots, and L.A. only hitting on 26% from the field. The Lakers did manage to force Orlando to turn the ball over 13 times, but the Magic held a huge advantage on the glass 57-37.
Happel connecting on one of 3 shots behind the arc. This one game Orlando a nice lead to end the first quarter.
All is not lost for the Lakers. Los Angeles can still get right back in the series, and steal home court advantage, by beating
Orlando Saturday night at the Amway Center. But, Happel remains confident his team can continue the momentum they picked up with their Game 1 domination, "A win like this is a huge confidence boost, so let's hope we can carry that right into our next game."

NBA FINALS PREVIEW
VS.
It's a clash of the titans in the 2012 NBA Finals. The top 2 teams in the regular season, appropriately enough, will be facing off for the championship. Orlando finished the year with 59 wins, while the Lakers were just one game behind with 58. These teams are fairly evenly matched. These are the best two defensive teams in the playoffs, with Orlando holding opponents to 83 points per game and L.A. holding its opponents to about 90 points. Los Angeles can score the basketball, averaging 102.7 points per contest in the postseason - and that's thanks to their great shooting: 48.6% from the field, 37.4% from behind the arc. The Magic have shot the ball pretty well, also, hitting on 45% from the floor overall, but just 30% from long distance.
KEY MATCHUP
VS.
The big question is which star will take over when it becomes necessary. Brian Happel has had a dream season, winning the league MVP, and he has continued to dominate in the playoffs. Happel outplayed LeBron James by far, averaging a whopping 43 points per game in the Eastern Conference Finals. But, Kobe Bryant brings the experience of five NBA championships. Will this be the first of many to come for Happel, or will the seasoned vet add yet another ring to his fingers and give yet another reason to be considered the greatest to ever play the game? Only time will tell. Tip-off for Game 1 of the NBA Finals is set for Thursday night in Orlando.

EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPS!
Happel and his teammates celebrate their series-clinching victory over Miami
Orlando, FL (AP) - Sometimes you have to go through hell to get to heaven. After losing a tough series last year in the Eastern Conference Finals against Miami, Orlando redeemed itself - and emphatically punched its ticket to the NBA Finals, putting the Heat on ice 111-71. This was a game until halftime. After that, the Magic made their vaunted run - and the second half
turned into a coronation for fans to enjoy. "We knew they had an explosive offense and could come back to take the lead easily after halftime," said Orlando Head Coach Stan Van Gundy, "We talked about the first five minutes of the third quarter being the most important five minutes of the game, and the guys really responded."
Happel outplayed LeBron all series long, finding many paths to the basket
Orlando doubled up Miami in the second half, 64-32. The Heat offense just simply disappeared, settling for jump shot after jump shot, and the Magic took advantage. In the third quarter alone, Orlando shot 52% from the field, compared to a miserable 26% for the Heat. Brian Happel's three-pointer at the buzzer to end the third quarter gave the Magic a 23 point lead. And, Orlando made sure there would be no fourth quarter collapse, starting off the final frame on a 24-4 run. "This is a dream come true," said Happel, "We couldn't really have drawn it up any better. Everyone followed their assignments and played really smart basketball. When we're on our game like that, we're hard to beat."
Dwayne Wade is the latest victim to be caught in the spotlight of a Happel dunk
With Happel on this team, the Magic are nearly impossible to beat. Once again, Happel exploded offensively, tying his team record for points scored in a playoff game with 48 points and setting another record he broke earlier in the series with 22 made field goals. Happel also grabbed 11 boards and hit three bombs from long distance. Dwight Howard anchored the offense down low, scoring 19 points, collecting 13 rebounds and handing out 7 assists. Brandon Bass was also solid - adding his own double-double with 11 and 11. Dwight Howard was glad to get another chance at redemption, "We were so close last year against them (Miami), and we were playing so well late in the season, we knew we had a good shot this time around. Now, our focus is on redemption for our loss to the Lakers in the Finals a couple years ago."
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: HAPPEL FLYING IN THE AIR, BEATING THE BUZZER
The Magic held the "Big 3" in check all series long, and game five was no different. Wade, James and Bosh could not reach the 20 point mark, and they only shot a combined 21-58 from the field, including 0-7 from behind the arc. "Give them a lot of credit," said LeBron James, "They had a great game plan for us. We just couldn't get a good flow going, especially in the second half. It's really disappointing. We just did not compete in the second half."
Happel with another one for the highlight real, this time a nice finish on an alley-oop pass from Arenas
Orlando outplayed Miami in every phase of the game in this one. They outshot the Heat (57% to 36%), outrebounded them (57-35) and shared the basketball better (28 assists to just 12 for Miami). After the celebration is over, the Magic will have to focus on their next opponent: the LA Lakers in the NBA Finals. Happel likes his team's chances, "We just need to focus on doing what we have been doing so far in the playoffs. If we can do that, I like our chances." Game one is set for Thursday night at the Amway Center.

ORLANDO ONE WIN AWAY FROM NBA FINALS, ROUT MIAMI AGAIN
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: HAPPEL RAINS THREES DOWN ON MIAMI
Miami, FL (AP) - The "magical" season continues for Orlando, now just one win away from an appearance in the NBA finals, thanks to a 102-73 blowout at Miami. The Heat kept it close in the first quarter, but a barrage of three's from the Magic in the second quarter really put some separation between the two teams. And, after halftime, Orlando just kept the foot on the gas, building the lead to more than 20 points. The story of this game was Orlando's three-point shooting, especially in the second quarter. The Magic were on fire, hitting on 8-12 from behind the arc in the second frame - including three in a row by star forward Brian Happel, who had been struggling offensively up to that point.
Happel hits the first of three bombs in a row. Orlando was 8-12 from long range in the 2nd quarter
Happel didn't shoot as well as he normally does, but still managed to connect on more than 50% of his shots (15-28 FG), including 5-9 from downtown. He ended up with 37 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. He also picked up a steal and blocked two shots. Center Dwight Howard was outstanding down low, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Gilbert Arenas also had a great game running the point. He scored 18 points on an incredible 7-9 shooting and dished out 7 assists. Reserve Jameer Nelson didn't score, but managed to hand out 8 assists off the bench.
Happel struggled at times close to the basket, but he was still taking it strong all night
LeBron James had his usual game, scoring 28 points and collecting 9 boards. But, Orlando did a tremendous job stopping everyone else. Chris Bosh was held to just 11 points, and Dwayne Wade could only muster 6 points during a terrible night of shooting. Wade only hit 3-18 shots, and missed all three attempts from long distance. While James has been able to get his close to 30 points a game, Magic forward Brian Happel says the team has focused on preventing anyone else from hurting them, "We just started to focus on making our own plays. When LeBron's locked in like that, worrying too much about stopping him is gonna get you nowhere, really."
Miami didn't have good looks all game long thanks to suffocating "D" like this
The series will now shift back to Orlando, where the Magic will have a chance to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals. Meantime, it's do or die time now for the Heat, who now face the tough task of trying to win three games in a row against a very hot Orlando squad. "We can't think about the three games. We'll just take it one game at a time, and see what we can do," said head coach Erik Spolstra.

MIAMI DEFENDS HOME COURT, STILL TRAILS 2-1 IN SERIES
Miami, FL (AP) - Anyone hoping for this to be a quick series - don't hold your breath. After getting blown out in the first two games in Orlando, the Heat come home and defend their home court to get back into the series, and avoid the 3-0 hole that nobody in the NBA has ever come back from. This was a classic game, with both teams going back and forth like two heavyweight fighters. It was how most expected every game in the series to go. Miami would take a lead, only to have Orlando make a run and take the lead. The Heat would get back in front - again, only for the Magic to tie things up. Miami finally pulled ahead enough in the fourth quarter when Orlando just couldn't hit any shots.
Happel stepping into the passing lane for the steal, which leads to an easy basket the other way
Orlando forward Brian Happel was the star, once again, scoring 38 points. He was also approaching a triple-double, collecting 11 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists. Gilbert Arenas also played well, adding 17 points and 11 dimes. And, Brandon Bass has really been emerging as a force down low, scoring 25 points and rabbing 8 rebounds on 11-16 shooting. After being held in check in game two, Dwayne Wade went off. He scored a team-high 35 points, hitting on 15 of 29 shots. LeBron James had a typical game, scoring 20, grabbing 8 boards and handing out 5 assists. Chris Bosh also stepped up for the "Big 3" by adding 18 points and 9 rebounds.
The crowd wasn't feeling any love for Happel after he drained a game-tying three
But, the big story in this one was the foul line. Miami spent a lot of time there, going 24-24. In contrast, Orlando only took 8 free throws the entire game. Both teams struggled from behind the arc, but the Magic took a lot more shots from long distance, only connecting on 7 of 30. "We live and die by the three," said head coach Stan Van Gundy, "When those three's and mid-range jumpers are falling, combined with Brian and Dwight dominating down low, we're hard to beat. But, when those shots aren't falling, we become too one dimensional and have to lean on Brian too much."
Happel tried to establish a physical presence early, here getting the hoop and the harm over LeBron and Bosh
Game four will be a very important one in this series. A Magic win gives Orlando a chance to clinch a spot in the NBA Finals at home. But, another Miami win ties the series up, and essentially makes it a best-of-three.

ORLANDO OFF AND RUNNING, BLOWS OUT HEAT FOR 2-0 LEAD
Orlando, FL (AP) - Miami is feeling the heat, heading home down two games to none in the Eastern Conference Finals after Orlando picked up another dominating victory, 111-90 at the Amway Center. When it comes to being hot, South Beach is usually the first place many people in the NBA think of, but right now - it's the Magic that are red hot, especially in the second halves of games. This time, it was Orlando outscoring the Heat 69-50 to come away with the easy victory.
Happel put on a dunk clinic all night, but this windmill will likely make the highlights
It was a record breaking night for star forward Brian Happel. Happel tied a record he set last game against Miami with 21 made field goals. He also surpassed the team record for most points in a playoff game with 48. Tracy McGrady had the previous record of 46, set in April of 2003 against Detroit. After the game, Happel was very humble after learning about his record-breaking performance, "It's something to be proud of for sure. To be up there at the top of the list of some pretty impressive players that have been here before me is a great honor."
Happel was a force all game long, going strong to the basket and drawing fouls
Oh and by the way, Happel only went 21-26 from the field and grabbed 13 rebounds. Three other Magic players scored in double-figures, including John Salmons, Gilbert Arenas and Dwight Howard. Howard nearly had a triple-double - adding 8 rebounds and 8 assists. He also had 3 steals and 4 blocks, just for good measure. For the Heat, LeBron James went off, scoring 32 points on 14-28 shooting. However, the Magic did a great job keeping tight wraps on everyone else, including Dwayne Wade, who only had 14 points on 4-18 shooting from the field.
Arenas and Happel have perfected the above the rim connection
The big storyline of this game was the shooting. The Magic were just on fire all game long, especially the second half. In the third quarter alone, Orlando hit on 71% of its shots, taking a double-digit lead into the fourth quarter. Overall in the second half, the Magic shot 64% from the field, including better than 50% (4-7) from behind the three-point line. Miami, in comparison, only connected on 41% of its shots in the second half and was a dismal 2-11 from long distance. Orlando also did a good job sharing the basketball, as the Magic had 20 assists on 29 field goals in that second half. The series now shifts to South Beach, where Miami is essentially facing a must-win game three.

ORLANDO OFFENSE BURNS HEAT, MAGIC TAKE GAME ONE
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: Happel Dunk-a-thon
Orlando, FL (AP) - The Magic have been waiting for this moment since one year ago, when Miami knocked them out of the playoffs in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. This time, Orlando got off to a great start in the rematch, beating the Heat 110-96. And, the Magic did it with red hot shooting. Orlando jumped out to a 10 point halftime advantage thanks to 55% shooting from the field, and the Magic never really cooled off, connecting on 52% of their shots for the game. Miami shot the ball well, also, hitting on 50% from the floor for the game. However, it wasn't quite enough to keep pace.
Happel and the Magic were on fire from all over the place, here Happel hit one of his 2 three's
Orlando Forward Brian Happel really fueled the offense, setting a career high in points with 45, and breaking a team playoff record he just set last week in Game 5 against Atlanta, making 21 field goals. That surpassed the 19 field goals he made in Game 5 last week. Happel also added on 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Dwight Howard had almost equally impressive numbers, at least from the all-around perspective. Howard nearly recorded a triple-double, with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The Magic center also added on two steals and two blocks. Brandon Bass was also solid, scoring 22 points on 10-20 shooting.
Happel seemed to be a step ahead of LeBron all night, here dunking the ball just past LeBron's hands
Miami's LeBron James and Dwayne Wade were able to get their points, each scoring 26 points. But, Orlando did a good job limiting everyone else enough to hold on for the victory. James also nearly had a triple-double, tacking on 10 rebounds and 7 assists. But, James and Wade combined for just 3-13 from behind the arc. Orlando clearly shared the ball well, collecting 30 assists to Miami's 20.

The Magic also won the rebounding game, getting 47 rebounds compared to the Heat's 30. Orlando also outrebounded Miami on the offensive glass, to the tune of 14-6. Game two is set for Wednesday night at the Amway Center in Orlando. Miami can still come away with a split and take away home court advantage.

ONE STEP CLOSER, ORLANDO MOVES ON TO EAST FINALS
The Magic celebrate their series-clinching victory in front of the home crowd
Orlando, FL (AP) - It's starting to become a habit. Ho-hum, just another appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Magic stepped on the gas in the second half to beat Atlanta 102-92 and advance to the East Finals for the fourth consecutive year. Orlando struggled early, falling behind by as much as 10 points in the first quarter. However, the Magic picked it up in the second frame, shooting 54% to get within five points by halftime. Then, Orlando started off the third quarter with a 17-6 run to take the lead. Still, Atlanta would not go away. The Hawks were hanging around for much of the fourth quarter, until the Magic went on a 16-6 run, including 13 straight points by forward Brian Happel, to put this one out of reach. After the game, Happel celebrated, but warned they've still got more goals to reach, "Yeah, this definitely was a tough series. I'm ready to move on, but this is only one step. We've got a long way to go to get that ring, so we can't ease up now."
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: Happel starts the game on fire, hitting back-to-back 3's
Happel was on fire the entire game. He scored 39 points on 17-23 shooting from the field, including 2 three-pointers. He also grabbed 16 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Happel had two big spurts, scoring 14 of Orlando's 18 points in the first quarter (including 10 straight to start the game), and again scoring 13 points in a row in the fourth quarter. Dwight Howard was a force on the boards, collecting 10 rebounds. And, Gilbert Arenas played one of his best games with the Magic, scoring 22 points on 10-20 shooting and dishing out 9 assists. John Salmons also appears to be turning things around, hitting on 3 of 7 shots behind the arc.
Happel would not be denied early, taking it strong to the hole all night long
Atlanta had five players score in double-figures, led by Joe Johnson's 26 points. Al Horford turned in a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards. But, the Hawks just didn't have enough fire power to match Orlando in the second half. The Magic outscored Atlanta 58-43 after halftime.
Orlando got off to a good start, thanks to 2 early three-pointers from Happel
Shooting was definitely the main story in this one. Orlando shot 49% from the field, while holding the Hawks to just 43%. The biggest difference was behind the three-point line, where the Magic hit on 37%, but Atlanta could only connect on 3-16 shots. The difference in the second half was also dramatic, as Orlando shot better than 50% from the field, and the Hawks only shot 40%.
Defense wins championships, and this kind of team defense helped get Orlando closer to winning one
Orlando now awaits the winner of the Miami/Chicago series. The Magic swept Chicago out of the playoffs last year, but lost to the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals 4-2. Atlanta finishes up a good season, advancing past the first round for the first time in quite a while. The Hawks starting five is locked up for at least the next couple of years, so they'll be looking to strengthen their bench for next season.

MAGIC COMEBACK GIVES ORLANDO 3-1 SERIES EDGE
Atlanta, GA (AP) - It's amazing how quickly things can turn around. What seemed like an Atlanta victory and a 2-2 series lead suddenly became a 94-93 win for the Magic and a 3-1 series lead going back to Orlando. The Hawks had a 6 point lead going into the fourth quarter, expanded that to 9 points, and still had a five point lead with one minute left in the game. But a furious rally by the Magic, capped by a jaw-dropping alley-oop dunk from Brian Happel, gives Orlando a chance to clinch the series in front of its home fans. "We really struggled for a while there, but we never gave up," said Happel. "You can never count us out, because we're going to keep coming at you, no matter what the score is or how much time is left."
Happel caps a "magical" comeback in style, with this game-winning alley-oop dunk
Happel put on quite a show, scoring 30 points and grabbing a game-high 19 rebounds. Tonight, he got plenty of support from his teammates. Dwight Howard turned in a double-double, scoring 15 points and cleaning the glass 15 times, to go along with 5 assists and 5 blocks. John Salmons showed signs of coming out of his slump, scoring 11 pointts on 4-7 shooting, including 2-3 from long distance. For the Hawks, Joe Johnson proved once again how valuable he is to this team. The small forward scored 27 points and collected 7 rebounds. Al Horford had a double-double, and Josh Smith added 18 points in a losing effort. "We've had trouble holding on to leads," said Johnson. "We've got to finish games better. We thought we had the series tied, now our backs are against the wall. We're just gonna have to take it one game at a time starting Tuesday night."
Defense kept Orlando close for much of the game, Happel's block 1 of 7 Hawks shots returned to sender
The Magic shot the ball fairly well, connecting on 45% of their shots. Orlando also hit on 9-24 (37%) from behind the arc. Atlanta also shot well from long distance, hitting nearly 50% (8-18). Both teams will be looking at improving their free throw shooting, which made a big difference in this game. Orlando and Atlanta were awful from the charity stripe. The Magic were just 46% (7-15) and the Hawks were just 50% (9-18). Orlando will look to move on to the Eastern Conference Finals for the fourth year in a row.
