THE BUCKS STOPPED IN MILWAUKEE, ORLANDO WINS IN BLOWOUT
Milwaukee, WI (AP) - Orlando keeps the ball rolling, winning another easy one on the road, as the Magic beat Milwaukee 104-84. This one was never really in doubt, as Orlando opened up an 11 point lead by the end of the first quarter, and it never got closer than that the rest of the way. The Magic held the Bucks to just 4-21 shooting beyond the three-point line for a meager 19%. Meantime, Orlando shot the ball well, hitting on 45% from the field and 39% from three.
Happel was not afraid to show off his physical game, taking it hard to the basket all night long
The Magic got another dominating performance from their team captain, Brian Happel. He scored 30 points and ripped down 17 rebounds in the victory. Happel also dished out 4 assists. The star forward was taking it to Milwaukee all night long, and proved to be too physical for the Bucks, as he drove hard to the lane and was able to dunk the ball through contact several times. After the game, Happel was very appreciative of his teammates, saying, "It's really quite easy when you have teammates like mine and a coaching staff like the one we have here. When all the pieces fall into place like that, scoring the points just becomes a formality."
There wasn't much Bogut or his Bucks could do to stop Happel down low
Four Magic players scored in double figures, including Gilbert Arenas, who also handed out 9 dimes. The point guard shot the ball well, hitting on 5-11 from the field, and more impressively, 4-6 from long distance. Marcin Gortat played well off the bench, adding 11 points and 7 rebounds. Orlando was able to blow the Bucks out, despite a rough game from center Dwight Howard, who played one of the worst games of his career with the Magic, scoring just 6 points and grabbing a mere 4 rebounds. For Milwaukee, Andrew Bogut had a decent game, turning in a double-double (14 points, 14 rebounds).
The streak continues for Orlando, which has now won seven games in a row. The Magic are now tied for the top spot in the East with just three games to go. One of those games will be at Miami, which is the team the Magic are tied with for the conference lead. But first, Orlando will travel to Charlotte to take on the Bobcats.

ORLANDO STINGS NEW ORLEANS FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT
Orlando (AP) - There was a big buzz surrounding Orlando, and it had nothing to do with the visiting team. The Magic stepped on the gas in the second half to exterminate the Hornets, 95-79. The win was Orlando's 54th of the season, and for now, enough to put the team both first in the Southeast and in the Eastern Conference. Both Miami and Chicago, half-a-game behind now, were idle. Orlando is red hot at just the right time, having won 14 out of its last 15 games. And, many of the wins have been against tough opponents, including Miami, Denver, Cleveland, Houston and New Orleans. After the game, Orlando Forward Brian Happel talked with admiration about the job coach Stan Van Gundy and his staff has done bringing this team together, especially after the Magic started 7-10 going into December, "Man, I don't know how they do it. You've got to balance different playing styles, egos, hot and cold streaks, and still find a way to try to win games. It's not a job I would want to have, but they make the best of it."
As usual, Happel wasn't afraid to take it hard to the rack
Star forward Brian Happel keeps adding to his argument for Most Valuable Player, scoring 35 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and collecting 3 steals. He also knocked down 3 shots from long distance. Dwight Howard chipped in with another double-double, scoring 11 and pulling down 15 rebounds.
It's a "knocked down three" - as Happel hits one of three shots from behind the arc
Trevor Ariza was one of five Hornets players to score in double figures, but it wasn't nearly enough. Orlando's defense was stifling at times, forcing 14 turnovers. The Magic also held New Orleans to just 3-15 shooting behind the arc. Orlando has a tough stretch of games to finish the season. Three of the last four are on the road, and three teams (Charlotte, Miami and Atlanta) are all playoff-bound. However, a good final week of the season could result in a number one seed in the East. The Magic can't finish any lower than the third seed.

MAGIC HOLD ON AT HOUSTON, DEAD "HEAT" FOR DIVISION LEAD
Houston (AP) - Orlando stops a late game surge by the Rockets, winning 103-99 on the road. The win puts the Magic in a tie on top of the Southeast division with their rivals, the Miami Heat. Orlando jumped out to a 9 point lead by the end of the first quarter and led by as much as 16 points in the first half. Still, Houston made a game of it in the second half, inching closer throughout the final quarter, until the Magic put the Rockets away at the free-throw line.
Happel steps into the passing lane for one of his 4 steals
Orlando Forward Brian Happel simply dominated on both sides of the court. He scored 38 points, including 21 in the second half. Happel also pulled down an amazing 21 rebounds, dished out 6 assists and picked up 4 steals. As for his supporting cast, they performed admirably. Dwight Howard had a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Gilbert Arenas nearly added a triple-double, with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Arenas did struggle a little bit handling the ball, turning over the rock 7 times.
As usual, Yao Ming was tough to stop. The Houston Center scored 22 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, picked up 6 steals and swatted three shots. Aaron Brooks also played well, scoring 21 points and hitting 3-5 from behind the arc.
Happel throwing it down and sending a message to Yao and the Rockets
The Magic are getting a chance to really fine-tune for the playoffs by playing a number of playoff-bound teams. Up next: a date at home against the 45-32 New Orleans Hornets.

ORLANDO CLOBBERS TORONTO, CLOSES IN ON TOP SPOT IN THE EAST
Orlando (AP) - Orlando struggles for much of the game, but the offense, led by star forward Brian Happel, woke up in time for the fourth quarter and wound up with a double-digit victory, 100-86 over Toronto. The Raptors, who are clinging to a very slim chance of getting into the playoffs, hung around much of the game. In fact, the Raptors held a three point lead going into the final frame. But, the Magic outscored Toronto 31-14 in the fourth quarter to get the win.
Happel did more than just hang around the rim, scoring the ball from all over the court to put up 44 points.
Happel came into the fourth quarter with the score tied at 75. His dunk at 8:37 was just the start of a flurry of offense from Happel, who proceeded to score 16 points in a row for the Magic. That allowed Orlando to pull ahead by 10 points and never look back. After the game, Happel said he realizes it's all about flow, and it's about picking the right spots, "I know my teammates are doing their best to get me the ball when it makes sense within the flow of the offense. So, I don't think my touches are an issue at all right now." Happel finished with 44 points and 19 rebounds. He also knocked down 3 three-pointers.
Happel sneaks by 2 Toronto defenders for the bucket.
Dwight Howard also put on a great performance, coming relatively close to a quadruple-double. He scored 11 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished out 6 assists and blocked 7 shots. The lone sore spot for Orlando: Gilbert Arenas. He just couldn't get anything going all game long, shooting a horrific 1-17 from the field. "I'm just lucky so many of my teammates stepped up for me tonight. I'm a shooter, so I'm going to keep shooting, and hopefully not put up another performance like tonight," said Arenas after the game.
Deadly from deep, Happel connected on 3 shots behind the arc, collecting the 100th of his career.
Orlando is now tied with its rival, Miami, for the Southeast Division lead, and the Magic are only half a game behind Chicago for the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. Up next Orlando, a tough road matchup with Houston, though the Rockets have been sputtering as of late, going just 5-5 in their last 10 games.

HEADING DOWN THE HOME STRETCH
Here's a look at the latest league standings through the end of March. In the West, 3 teams have clinched berths: L.A. Lakers, Denver and Houston, with the Lakers having clinched the Pacific Division title a long time ago. Memphis and Sacramento are still in the hunt for that 8th and final playoff spot. In the East, 4 teams have their playoff tickets punched, but again, there's plenty to decide. Chicago has clinched the Central Division title. But, Orlando is challenging Miami for the Southeast - and both teams are easily within reach for the conference's top spot. Indiana and Toronto are watching from the outside right now - both 3 and 4.5 games back from the 8th spot, respectively.

ORLANDO BLOWS WASHINGTON OUT OF GYM
ORLANDO (AP) - Orlando casted a spell that apparently put a lid on the Wizards basket, as the Magic easily win at home 104-66. This game was never really in doubt. Orlando used a 29-7 run in the first quarter to grab a comfortable lead, and just cruised the rest of the way. The Magic "D" was as big a story as the offense, holding Washington to 27 points and a terrible 28% from the field in the first half. Orlando Forward Brian Happel was pleased with the all-around effort, saying "Man, it's a good feeling. It was really a team effort out there tonight, and those are the best kind of wins."
Happel's reverse dunk early on made sure his team would never look back.
Happel certainly led the way in an all-around outstanding game. He was just 2 assists short of a triple-double, scoring 35 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and dishing out 8 dimes. Center Dwight Howard struggled a bit, scoring just 9 points, but he was able to pull down 10 boards and swat away 3 shots. Gilbert Arenas, who has struggled mightly shooting from the field since being traded to Orlando, shot better in this one, going 6-14 from the field.
Happel with a wide open lane to the basket, something his teammates saw much of the night.
Orlando started off the month poorly, losing its first 2 games, against Indiana and Utah, both at home. After that, though, the Magic caught fire, winning 11 out of 12. That streak has Orlando just 1.5 games behind Chicago for the top spot in the East, and only 1 game behind Miami for the Southeast Division title. One thing is for sure for Happel. He says his team is hitting its stride at just the right time, "I'm hoping we can use this as a momentum builder to keep up this kind of play moving forward. If we're able to do that, there's no reason we can't make a whole lot of noise in the playoffs."

ORLANDO STAYS HOT IN CLEVELAND
CLEVELAND (AP) - Orlando picks up another road victory, slicing the Cavaliers 92-82. The Magic got off to a hot start, and so did star forward Brian Happel. He went off in the first quarter, outscoring the entire Cleveland team 20-17 and helping Orlando get out to an 11 point lead. The Magic never looked back, leading the rest of the way.
Happel had Vinsanity and the entire Cleveland team faked out in the first quarter, scoring 20 of his 38 points.
Happel was once again the star, scoring 38 points overall and pulling down 13 rebounds. But, he had plenty of support, including from Dwight Howard and Brandon Bass, both contributing double-doubles. Gilbert Arenas dished out 7 assists in the victory. Despite the relatively easy victory, there is concern about Orlando's struggles in both the second and third quarters. The Magic only managed 38 points combined in those 2 quarters. However, solid defense helped them maintain a double digit lead - as Orlando only gave up 36 points over that same stretch.
Happel contributing to the "D", swatting away another Cavs shot.
Vince Carter played in his third game against his former team this year, but has yet to be able to claim a victory. Cleveland lost all three meetings. However, Carter has performed well. In this latest clash, Carter scored 20 points and pulled in 9 rebounds. Orlando, meantime, remains very hot. The Magic have now won 10 out of their last 11. Orlando finishes out the month of March at home against Washington.

ORLANDO SLOWS DOWN PACERS, HAPPEL SUFFERS INJURY
Orlando outpaces Indiana in the fourth quarter, leading to a 111-90 blowout at home. The Magic had a hard time pulling away from Indiana, actually trailing the Pacers by 3 points going into the final quarter. However, Orlando really stepped it up on both sides of the court, outscoring Indiana 38-14 in the final frame to come up with the easy victory.
Happel's powerful dunk sparked a 29-8 run to finish the game
Orlando Forward Brian Happel had one of the greatest performances in Magic history, scoring 43 points and pulling down an amazing 28 rebounds, including 12 from the offensive glass. The 28 rebounds is a career high and just 2 shy of the record of 30 rebounds held by Dwight Howard. Happel had a double-double after the first quarter, and just kept piling on the stats. However, Happel suffered an injury when he got knocked down after hitting a three late in the game. Initial reports have it as back spasms, he'll likely sit out a couple of games to get healed up, with the Magic already guaranteed to be in the playoffs.
Happel showing off the guns after hitting a basket and drawing the foul
Dwight Howard also turned in a great game, scoring 22 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Howard played well on defense, as well, swatting away 4 shots. Point Guard Gilbert Arenas struggled scoring, but he did dish out 8 assists.

MAGIC SHUT DOWN PISTONS, CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT
Orlando is playoff-bound once again. The Magic clinched a spot in the playoffs after beating Detroit 101-93. Orlando built up a 13 point lead after three quarters. The team struggled for a bit in the fourth quarter, but was still able to hold on for the 8-point victory.
Happel pulling down one of his 22 rebounds against Detroit
Brian Happel was a monster on the boards, ripping down 22 rebounds. He also scored a game high 34 points on 13-19 shooting. Dwight Howard, Brandon Bass and Gilbert Arenas all chipped in with double-doubles. Howard finished with 17 points and 16 boards, Bass scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Areans dropped 11 dimes while scoring 14 points.
Happel was flying high after this windmill dunk, and his Magic are taking off, too, into the playoffs.
For Detroit, Charlie Villanueva and Michael Beasley each scored team-high 17 points. The Pistons ended up shooting 44% from the field, but only hit 1 of 8 from behind the arc.
When he wasn't scoring, Happel was finding the open man, this time hitting Brandon Bass for a wide open jumper.
Orlando is comfortably in the playoffs, but now they still have to play for seeding. After tonight's victory, Orlando sits 3 games behind Miami for the top spot in the East, and 1.5 games behind Chicago for the second slot. Happel knows there's still plenty of work to be done, saying, "Making the playoffs isn't anything special. If anything, I think we need to step things up to ensure we're in top shape for when it's playoff time." Up next for Orlando, another home game, this one against Indiana.
