Let me start off by saying that I do not follow soccer at all. I have tremendous respect for the athletes, and when I was a sports reporter, I covered club, prep and college soccer and typically enjoyed the games. I just never got into the sport, outside of the World Cup, which I always watch (both genders).

So, why would I be asking for soccer game advice when I don't follow the sport? Well, it boils down to this. I'm fed up with playing EA's lackluster football titles and I've heard ... Read More

I'm surprised no one has linked the two, because to me, it is no coincidence that a week after there's a report stating EA is looking at subscription-based games for future releases, we get the news about the EA Season Ticket.

Since the Season Ticket (if you purchase it) will force you to download the entire retail game, this will provide EA will "research" which they can use to push the subscription-based games down the road. Remember all the talk a year or so ago with Madden and ... Read More

For me I would go with baseball and basketball.

Baseball, espeically MLB The Show, has been by far the toughest sports video game I've played. The CPU is a BEAST in this game. You really have to swallow some pride and play at lower difficulty levels just to be competitive. What I also like about baseball games is that no two games are alike; you can have a pitchers' duel one game and a slugfest the next. I feel like the AI is really well-tuned in baseball games and presents a good ... Read More

If you were forced to choose between either NCAA 12 or Madden 12 for your football gaming needs for the next year, what game would you choose and why?

Well, I've had MLB 11 The Show for nearly a week now, and while I haven't been able to play as many games as I'd like (work, school, life), I feel like I've played enough to be able to put together a thoughtful review.

Initial impressions
I love those opening videos of real-game footage from the prior season that The Show uses. It just gets you pumped up to play the game. The load times seem longer than last year; it's not a huge deal to me, but it is worth noting.

Recently I've been looking over my catalogue of games and it got me thinking 'how much am I really getting out of these games?'

Between school, work and other commitments, there's not a lot of time for gaming and yet, sitting on my shelf I have the following:

PS3: MLB 10 The Show, NCAA 11, Madden 11, Backbreaker, NCAA Basketball 10 (about to be traded in), Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2, God of War Collection, God of War III.

360: NBA 2K11, NHL 11, College ... Read More

I'm really stuck right now trying to decide on which game I want to buy: EA MMA or WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011. I have been a pro wrestling fan for over 20 years, played all the older wrestling games, but haven't played a SVR game in 4 years, as I felt the game was stale.

I am intrigued by WWE Universe Mode, which is like an active GM/Season Mode. However, I'm concerned that not enough has changed with the gameplay to keep it interesting.

Then there's EA MMA. I am a ... Read More

Midnight is fast approaching for Madden 11, at least as it relates to playing time in my PS3 console.

I wasn't going to buy the game this year, but wound up purchasing the game as a way of trying to cope with the loss of my dog, Misty, who had to be put down just over a month ago. My initial reaction to Madden 11 was not positive; the numerous broken tackles by the CPU and overall lack of defense on both sides (Human and CPU) had me immediately questioning my purchase.

OK, so I just suffered what has to be the worst loss so far in my MLB 10 The Show franchise with the Colorado Rockies.

Leading 4-3 in the 9th @ Dodger Stadium, I bring in Huston Street to close things out. My bullpen has been terrible so far, blowing 6 saves, so I knew that this wouldn't be an easy save. Street gets the first batter to ground out, but then surrenders a triple (Brad Hawpe was running real slow in RF today), putting the tying run 90 feet from home. Joe Torre then gambles ... Read More

After playing the NCAA 11 demo, I came away with a 'meh' feeling. Yes, the game does feel improved from 09 (the last version I played) but really what NCAA 11 feels like is Madden 10 with a few additions.

Not that that's a bad thing as Madden 10 was a pretty good game, but it's just not fresh enough for me. Perhaps I'm just burned out on EA's version of football, but I don't find myself getting as hyped up to buy this year's games as in previous years.

Part of that ... Read More

Now that I'm a (to steal a phrase) PS3/360 "dual citizen" I am trying to divy up my gaming time between the two consoles. The only fair way to do that was to split up the sports titles I typically play: football, baseball, basketball and hockey, between the two systems.

With baseball, it was a fairly easy choice. While I had MLB 2K10 for the 360 for a while, one of the main reasons behind my getting a PS3 was to play The Show. So, my baseball gaming is now being done on the PS3 and ... Read More

Playing perhaps its most complete game of the season, Buffalo dominated both sides of the ball in a convincing 31-10 road victory over the New York Jets in an AFC East matchup.

The Bills' defense was stout, allowing just 94 yards of total offense. Jets rookie quarterback, Mark Sanchez, was flustered all game by the Bills and could never find a rhythm.

The lone bright spots for the Jets were a 101-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Leon Washington in the first quarter ... Read More

It wasn't pretty, but the Buffalo Bills managed to escape south Florida with a 16-13 win over the Miami Dolphins, thanks to a 45-yard field goal by Ryan Lindell as time expired.

The Bills (2-2) trailed 13-6 late in the fourth quarter but rallied for 10 points in the final 1 minute, 56 seconds. Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was benched early in the second half, returned and scored the game-tying touchdown on a 7-yard run. After holding the Dolphins to a three-and-out, Buffalo took back over ... It wasn't pretty, but the Buffalo Bills did enough to defeat the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers 15-3. The win evens the Bills' record at 1-1.

Buffalo led 9-3 at the half and added a pair of Ryan Lindell field goals in the second half to increase its lead, while holding Tampa Bay scoreless in the game's final 24 minutes.

Buffalo opened its 2009 season with a 44-23 loss at the hands of the New England Patriots in Foxboro.

The Bills (0-1) led 7-0 after the first quarter, but surrendered 20 points in the second and trailed by 10 at halftime. Vincent Wolfork was a beast for the Patriots. He intercepted a Ryan Fitzpatrick pass and returned it 91 yards for a touchdown and later in the quarter, he sacked Fitzpatrick and forced a fumble, which was recovered for a New England touchdown.
