Madden NFL 17 News Post

A new commentary team featuring Brandon Gaudin (play-by-play) and Charles Davis (color commentary and analysis) will replace Jim Nantz and Phil Simms in Madden NFL 17. The team will be able to add new commentary to the game throughout the entire season.

Quote:
Today EA Tiburon revealed the new commentary team that will be calling the games in Madden NFL 17. Brandon Gaudin will be the new voice providing play-by-play, with Charles Davis adding color commentary and analysis. Thanks to unprecedented access to Davis and Gaudin, Madden NFL 17 will ship with the most commentary ever at launch. This year’s game also features the opportunity to add commentary updates throughout the NFL season on Xbox One and PlayStation®4.

Brandon Gaudin will be joining the Big Ten Network as a play-by-play announcer this fall after being the Voice of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets since 2013. Additionally, he has been named the lead college football play-by-play voice for Westwood One Sports, and will also call occasional NFL games for the network. Gaudin will continue to serve as one of the voices for Westwood One’s coverage of men’s basketball, including conference championship week and the NCAA Tournament.

Charles Davis is best known for his work on the NFL Network and NFL on FOX. This past season he could be seen providing analysis each week during NFL on FOX broadcasts, as well as providing extensive coverage of the NFL Draft on NFL Network. Davis is known for his meticulous and detailed knowledge of the NFL, which he will bring to the Madden NFL 17 broadcast booth.

Didn't think I'd like the idea of going away from real NFL commentators. But this guy sounds real good.
I like it.

Play by play from Brandon and commentary is no longer stitched together according to interview with Brian Mazique

Based on the Foley stuff, sounds like a player might be mic'd up during a game...for some nfl films type replays

If you listen to the beginning of this video and the beginning of this NFL on Fox video Gaudin sounds a lot like Brennaman

Looks great, sounds great. New voices will be fresh

2:17 mark or so is exactly what I've been waiting for! Updates at Miami's stadium have been added, including the roof/canopy!

Sweeeeet!!!

This video actually got me excited! Good job EA, and way to think outside of the box on commentary!

In the past one guy would record his lines separately from the other. Then in the game their lines were stitched together.

I know it has probably been said a million times in this thread (I didnt go through all the comments) but thank goodness Nantz and Simms are gone.

In all honesty I think having a sound overhaul will def make this game feel different. Not hearing the expected sounds during contact and the predictable commentary is going to add an element that is fresh and welcomed from this community.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!! Finally we got some fresh new commentary. I never really liked what we had for the last 10 years...these guys are a HUGE welcome to the color commentary!! Nice job Tiburon, you guys are on a roll!!! You all in Beast Mode!!

PS: It baffles me how anyone could of liked the Simms and Nantz doing the play-by-play, those guys have no soul in their voice, literally. For that tweet from dude that was upset with the change...has ZERO taste. And i gotta say it again, Dev's are on a roll with these changes to Madden!

I don't know anyone can't be excited for this new team. After reading the interviews these guys sound like they really enjoyed doing this. Not to mention they get to record together. They sound enthusiastic. And getting new commentary lines every week will definitely help keep Madden fresh for me longer.

Never heard of Brandon Gaudin but I was very impressed by him in the video. Sounds like he will bring the energy needed for Madden.

They weren't kidding around when they said he "sounds like sports". His voice sounds like it was made for sports broadcasting!

Can someone explain the importance of the weekly updated commentary based on real life NFL happenings for me? It's obviously not going to be relevant to any online or offline CFM since occurrences in real life won't be happening in my own CFM world. Is it just for online head to head?

I'm glad they're revamping the commentary, but this seems like superfluous material that won't add much. Maybe I'm just completely missing the exciting part.

Weekly commentary updates potentially supports every other mode that isn't CFM - Play Now, Online Head-To-Head, Draft Champions, and Ultimate Team. It's especially relevant to Ultimate Team, where they've drop new cards for the top performers of the week every week of the season for a while now.
