Madden NFL 17 News Post

A new commentary team featuring Brandon Gaudin (play-by-play) and Charles Davis (color commentary and analysis) will replace Jim Nantz and Phil Simms in Madden NFL 17. The team will be able to add new commentary to the game throughout the entire season.

Quote:
Today EA Tiburon revealed the new commentary team that will be calling the games in Madden NFL 17. Brandon Gaudin will be the new voice providing play-by-play, with Charles Davis adding color commentary and analysis. Thanks to unprecedented access to Davis and Gaudin, Madden NFL 17 will ship with the most commentary ever at launch. This year’s game also features the opportunity to add commentary updates throughout the NFL season on Xbox One and PlayStation®4.

Brandon Gaudin will be joining the Big Ten Network as a play-by-play announcer this fall after being the Voice of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets since 2013. Additionally, he has been named the lead college football play-by-play voice for Westwood One Sports, and will also call occasional NFL games for the network. Gaudin will continue to serve as one of the voices for Westwood One’s coverage of men’s basketball, including conference championship week and the NCAA Tournament.

Charles Davis is best known for his work on the NFL Network and NFL on FOX. This past season he could be seen providing analysis each week during NFL on FOX broadcasts, as well as providing extensive coverage of the NFL Draft on NFL Network. Davis is known for his meticulous and detailed knowledge of the NFL, which he will bring to the Madden NFL 17 broadcast booth.

Now that they dropped the bomb can you comment on how the weekly updates will affect franchise mode? Will there be commentary that talks about fictional players traded in franchise mode or commentary that mentions performance in previous games during franchise mode.

Oh man, I got so excited when Gaudin mentioned the playoff implications of the Chiefs-Broncos game. That's going to be HUGE for franchise mode.

I share the same thoughts as this guy.

Also loving the hypocrisy in this thread. Everyone wants sim/realism and EA gets rid of that and people are thrilled. Lol.

Simms and Nantz are busy men. EA would really struggle to do the weekly updates with them. I'd prefer new guys with more lines and new updates than the CBS guys and the same old tired lines.

Yeah, because repeating the same lines 500 times in one game is realistic.

Biggest step in the right direction I've seen so far with the game.. Might be the first year I don't completely turn off the commentary

the greatest football game ever had fictional commentators. I love this move. They finally are getting it. Probably saved them some money too. Its a win win

Having every game feel like a CBS broadcast with Nantz/Simms every week wasn't exactly realistic. The new team, with a huge increase in the amount of commentary, will be way more realistic.

Charles Davis is an NFL commentator.

He doesn't call games though. He is the lead college football analyst for Fox. And does scouting stuff for the NFLN. According to his Wikipedia page.

I swear I heard him call some Panthers games last year for Fox. He moved over to the NFL last year.

Great stuff! Rex and company have done a great job improving the game every year and details like this really help the overall package.

Yea after seeing the article, you just posted as well as MPrice, I'm thinking the Wiki page is out of date. That's what I get for using Wikipedia.
