For the first road contest of the year, Western Kentucky would head into Neyland Stadium to try and earn their second victory of the season. To sum this game up quickly, ugly...neither team could get much going due to the rain and both defenses were on point slowing down the opposing offenses. Going to give this one more game on the current sliders to see if things change but right now I'm thinking they may need to be more difficult (next level up on Jarodd21's sliders). We shall see.

Either way, by game's end the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers came out with a hard fought win to move to 2-0 on the year. They hit the road again next week to take on South Alabama.

After a slow start to the season for the Hilltoppers, they use the second half to put the game away. An offense that was consistently moving the ball most of the night had issues finishing drives in the first half. Their first drive of the game would be cut short after starting HB Antonio Andrews would fumble the ball on a first down play shortly after converting a 4th and short in opponent territory. The next two Western Kentucky drives to surpass the 50 would result in field goals and a first half score of 7-6 going into the locker room.

Things would change quickly in the second half. Western Kentucky's defense did what it was supposed to do, and the offense found the end zone three times, as well as adding another field goal, to ice this one. "This is a great way to start the season for our kids and gives us a nice platform to build on" said Coach Chris Spielman. "Now we have some film to study and begin preparing for next week's opponent."

Next week the Hilltoppers hit the road to take on the Tennessee Volunteers.

  • My big areas of concern whenever starting a new program is always depth and ability on the offensive and defensive lines.
  • I'll likely be putting a premium on offensive line, defensive line, and linebackers for year 1.
  • No changes as of yet to this list.

Game Notes
-Alabama State is being used as a placeholder team for the generic FCS East on my schedule

-We begin the season at home with what should be an easy game against a FCS foe; however, with it being the first game don't count anything out

-Kickoff to the 2013 season! Try and start it with a win!

Things of Note:
  • This team is comprised of 18 Seniors, meaning I will allow myself to sign up to 21 prospects, any walk-ons or late signees by the CPU will be removed from my team
  • I will not redshirt anyone in their Senior season so as to make my recruiting counts easier and since most players are usually redshirted during the Freshman and Sophomore seasons
  • I have two rough stretches on this schedule of 3 straight road games...coming out of those in decent shape will be deciding between winning the conference or not making bowl eligibility
Posted on November 7, 2013 at 02:11 PM.
I'll be starting a new offline dynasty as the head coach of a 1* program and working my through the college ranks. Being an Ohio State fan the ultimate goal will to eventually find myself coaching at tOSU. As such, my coach's name will be Chris Spielman in honor of one of the all time greats at linebacker for tOSU. I'm using volstopfan14's roster and Jarodd21's Heisman sliders (green set for at least the first season). My offensive system will be running a one back undercenter concept offense, with a focus on ball control. Our passing offense will be comprised of short, ball-control type routes and a mix of air raid passing. In addition to the offensive style, I'm going to go a little away from my norm and run a base 3-4 defense. In addition to the above plans for my offense and defense, I will be imposing scholarship limitations on myself. Each season I will only allow myself to sign Seniors+3 for recruiting. By doing so, I ensure it will take just a little bit longer to build my team while keeping it as close to realistic as possible.

My first coaching destination was hard to choose. I have done many online dynasties in the past and was looking to avoid certain teams as well as certain locations, and with that in mind and the type of offense I want to run, I will begin my coaching career at.....Western Kentucky!

I'm looking forward to getting the opening season underway.
