I've updated our front page poll with a question that I've been wanting to get everyone's feedback on for some time now. The new poll asks if you're primarily a sports fan (who also likes video games) or a video gamer (who also likes sports)?
Personally, I love sports. I love sports so much that I'm not just content with watching them on TV or participating in them in real life, but I also want to simulate them in the video games I play. So I'm a sports fan who also likes video games. Let us know what you are by voting in the poll in the right menu of our front page or by clicking here.

I usually don't believe in making New Year Resolutions, but this coming year I am hoping to make some major changes in my life.
So, I thought it would be a really cool idea for me to use my OS Arena Blog to make a record of my desired changes/resolutions and then come back at various points throughout 2009 and see how I am doing.
Then at the end of 2009 I'll re-visit this and see how many of the things that I set out to accomplish, actually got done. So let's get started ...
1) Change my job/Start a career for myself. - I'm 27 years old and treading water. I am at a job, not working on a career. Furthermore I hate my job 99% of the time. I can't make enough money to move my life forward in my current situation which leads into my next resolution ...
2) Save more money. - I can be a frivolous spender at times. I buy entirely too much "stuff" just so I can say that I have it. I am more of a collector at this point when it comes to buying stuff than I am anything else. This also ties into my next goal ...
3) Spend less money of gaming. - I buy too many video games at full price and don't end up getting nearly my monies worth. Hell, I still have several games in my backlog that are still unplayed or even unopened.
4. Spend more time with those that are most important to me - family and friends. - Just what it says, spend more time and appreciate that time, with my family and my good friends. I've started this one already, but I need to commit to following through from here on out.

With Christmas only one day away (it is New Year's eve already here in Australia) and the year quickly coming to an end, I wanted to take this opportunity to look back at 2008 from a personal and professional perspective. I also wanted to thank everyone who has visited OS over the past 12 months and share with you some of our successes.
Personally, 2008 has been a huge year for me. Not only did I drastically increase my involvement with OS, but I also left my job at EA after having spent 4 years there. My wife and I also relocated from Canada back to my original home country of Australia. 2008 was very exciting for me, in large part thanks to the success and growth of Operation Sports.
Here are some interesting stats:
2009 will be a big year for OS, there is no doubt about it. We're well positioned to expand even further based off of the ever increasing interest and quality of the new sports games scheduled for release. We're busy expanding our site's feature set to build off of the new generation of sports games that focus heavily on online interaction.
In closing, I wanted to thank everyone who made OS a regular destination in 2009. It has been a great experience being heavily involved with OS over the past 12 months, and I look forward to continuing this into 2009 and beyond.
Merry Christmas!

I was thinking earlier today while driving and listening to music and I remembered when my cousin's father died suddenly and tragically a few years ago. He was still a young man of his 30s.
Apparently, he had written a living will and had some songs he really liked, so at his funeral some select classic rock songs were played and I felt like it really reflected the man's personality and also seemed to bring home the loss even more immediately.
Obviously, that left quite an impression on me. So as I still think about that from time to time, even today, I thought to myself - what would I want played at MY funeral? I'm limiting it to 5 songs, to make the choices harder and more important.
Obviously, I'd love some feedback from everyone who looks at this blog. That said - here are my 5 songs that I want played at my funeral when I die.
I will also post the order on which I'd like the songs played.
First Song - Dust In The Wind - Kansas
(Sums up Life)
Second Song - If Tomorrow Never Comes - Garth Brooks
(For my 2 year old neice)
Third Song - He Stopped Loving Her Today - George Jones
(for the few women that I have loved)
Fourth Song - Goodbye To Romance - Ozzy Osbourne
(One final goodbye to my friends)
Fifth (Final) Song - See You On The Other Side - Ozzy Osbourne
(Very Fitting in my opinion)
*If I got a bonus song - since it's my blog (LOL), then this would be the one*
Time In A Bottle - Jim Croce
Just a beautiful song full of meaning.
