A slightly more balanced game than game 1, although a surprising result. C.J. Spiller ran for 185 yds and 3 TD. Completion % between the 2 quarterbacks were just shy of 75%. Definitely work to be done in the passing game

I'm working on a set of sliders for CPU vs. CPU games. I much prefer coach mode as I'm not a big hit stick fan. I'm working through the sliders by playing the 2013 season game by game. This way playbooks etc. are irrelevant and samples from every team can be taken. Since this is just the beginning and setting sliders is an iterative process I'll be posting several boxscores before I draw any conclusions. Below is the first boxscore for Ravens at Broncos. It's clear from this first game that it is far too easy to pass and play selection appears to heavily favor the pass. We'll see if the trend continues.

Georgia State’s opening drive resulted in a 33 yard FG, after a long, time-consuming, 13-play drive stalled at FCS SE’s 16 yard line. HB Gerald Howse carried the ball 4 times for 30 yards and Travis Evans picked up an additional 12 yards on the ground on 2 carries. QB Ben McLane was wild however, connecting on only 1 of 5 passes for 11 yards.
FCS SE’s first possession resulted in a turnover on downs at midfield.
Georgia State couldn’t capitalize as their 2nd drive was halted in the red zone, and Will Lutz’s 32 yard FG attempt hit the upright.
Georgia State thoroughly dominated the first quarter, but only led 3-0.
FCS SE then sustained a drive after an 18 yard pass from midfield on 3rd and 10. The drive stalled at Georgia State’34, but missed a 51 yard FG to tie the game.
Georgia State for a 3rd straight drive, drove the ball into FCS SE territory, but punted when the drive stalled at the 37.
FCS then turned the ball over after a sustained drive brought the ball to Georgia State’s 10 yard line. QB Zach Bailey fumbled the ball on a terrible-looking option pitch to his halfback who was already falling to the ground with 1:49 left in the half.
Georgia St. went straight to the air and after 3 quick completions found themselves at midfield. Gerald Howse then broke a 3rd and 10 draw play for 35 yards. Ben McLane then scored on an option play that fooled the entire defense with 54 seconds remaining in the half.
The celebration wouldn’t last long though, as FCS SE returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to close the gap to 10-7 at the half. Georgia State dominated the first half on the ground, outgaining their opponent 106-7. The 3 point lead was clearly disappointing.
On the opening drive of the 3rd quarter, FCS SE again drove the ball deep into Georgia State territory. 6 first downs and more than half of the quarter chewed up, HB #34 scored to give FCS SE a 14-10 lead.
On the ensuing drive, QB Ben McLane threw a perfect pass to WR Albert Wilson on a go route down the right sideline. The 37-yard completion put Georgia State back on the attack. A 19 yard reception by WR Danny Williams gave them first and goal at the 1, and Gerald Howse punched it in on a sweep 2 plays later.
On the next possession, QB Zach Bailey, led WR#14 well too far and the ball fell right into the arms of Georgia St. MLB Joseph Peterson who returned the errant pass to the FCS SE 28 yard line. 5 plays later, FB Anthony Hudgins scored on a 1 yard run, to give Georgia St. 1 24-14 lead at the end of the 3rd qtr.
The teams traded 3 and outs early in the 4th quarter, with the first 1st down coming with only 5 minutes remaining in the game when FCS HB Jesse Logan gained 4 yards on a 3rd and 3. With 2:42 remaining, FCS Southeast scored on a 10 yard pass on 4th and 2 to tighten the game back up to 24-21.
Georgia State then were unsuccessful on their first 2 runs, but a 12 yard screen pass to HB Gerald Howse gave them a chance to run out the clock. Another first down came on a facemask that ultimately sealed their fate. 3 more runs ran out FCS SE’s timeouts and Georgia St. ran the clock down to 11 seconds before turning the ball over on downs at FCS SE’s 2 yard line. An incomplete pass, and a hail mary that brought the ball to the Georgia St. 45 yard line ended the game.
HB Gerald Howse took player of the game honors gaining 144 yards on 19 carries and a TD and catching 4 passes for an additional 27 yards.

York City picks up a point against the heavily favored Bristol Rovers on the road. While Bristol was clearly the better side all game, neither team was able to score. Bristol largely played its B team in an effort to rest their stars. Bristol has a Cup game next week. York City who was eliminated from the Cup in the first round, played all their starters. 2 of their players, LB Danny Blanchett and CM Michael Potts are nearing a suspension after picking up their 4th yellow cards of the season.Sep 29, 2012 - Bristol Rovers vs York City | |||

When ST Ashley Chambers (OVR 59, Age 22) missed badly on a penalty kick in the 17th minute, it seemed inevitable that York City would suffer another defeat. When Chippendale scored for Accrington Stanley in the 44th minute, doom had set in. But in the 69th minute sub ST Jason Walker (OVR 55, Age 28) knotted up the game at 1 and a glimmer of hope arose.
