When I see players in the NFL playing Madden I do see some white players. Are you that dumb! NFL is mostly made of African Americans! What are the chances that an NFL player would be Black?! Drew Bree's and Jason Allen have also been seen playing the game. Both white. If I were to guess a game it might be Madden but It could also be an NBA game. OR a FPS. I know a lot of black guys that play those games too. The point is not if more black guys play madden than any other race. its that you seem to think they are not smart enough to decide that they don't want to buy Madden for the same reason everyone else has decided not to buy it. It's been dumbed down to the ****** gamer and they probably want a hard core game like the rest. To also suggest that taking out rap music would turn away blacks is a dumb statement too. Could it be that a black person might light other music. Could you be anymore stereotypical? I am not here to defend black people, because they don't need me to defend them. Madden's perceived lack of sales is more due to not making a game for the hard core gamer than any other factor. The economy has not caused people to stop buying the things they really love. I am done with this ridiculous subject.

I don't think it's a racist comment, but it isn't based on fact. Just one man's opinion (which happens to be a strange analogy). Of course, it's not a far off assumption that the economy affects sales, but I can tell you why I didn't buy M11... they didn't improve the dynasty mode. I play with the broadcast camera so "gameplay" improvements are not that big a deal. I try and let the players attributes determine the outcome, not my button pushing expertise. Anyway - that's my 2 cents.

This is unfortunate. I expected a lot more from Operation sports followers. A lot more. To call me a racist or prejudice is one thing, but to call me I'll informed is well....I'll informed. I stand by my opinion. That's the main problem with people today. Sensitivity....and to the child who said caucasian's purchase 70 percent of hip hop music, I say to you...How many people of European descent do you associate with? And do you consider the black eyed peas hip hop? The stupidity on this topic is perplexing and the fact of the matter is that African American males do in fact make up the VAST MAJORITY OF MADDENS INSTALL BASE. And I guarantee....without a shadow of a doubt, from Ian to Phil, everyone in Electonic arts is fully aware of this. Yeah, they may use politically correct terms such as the urban population or ******/ mainstream crowd, but any marketing savvy realist know which ethnic groups they're referring to.

Once again, to recap. I truly believe that the primary reason Madden sales have declined is largely in part to their previous target market (African American males) being affected by the economy moreso than any other ethnicity, and also EA forecasting this trend in 2008 by choosing to relaunch and reposition the franchise from a predominantly African American install base, to a more mainstream American install base (Caucasian). Object....let's look at The Grand theft Auto series. Which Grand theft sold more copies than any other grand theft auto in the series..... If you guessed Grant theft auto San Andreas, you guessed correct. Now the main character in the game was African American with the central theme being more urban than previous grand thefts. So would you propose that African Americans had little to do with the enormous success of this title even though the game was clearly marketed to the urban population.......

That's an interesting observation. Some actual facts may help to support your thoughts, though. Madden does "suck" in my opinion, which could be a factor in the low sales. Then again, this year (2010) is the first time I have been unemployed in my adult life. I'm an African American, die-hard gamer, that can't afford to buy games and systems like I usually do.

I love theories, especially speculative theories. This is a blog, and the man has a right to come up with assasine theories with zero evidence, so live and let live.

I get your point Shadthedad........But I think you are focus TOO much on Deomgraphics for Race. NFL Football and Madden is about Football,their not marketing to certain race. Sales for most games are down. ONE RACE...HUMAN....the rest is BULL SH**! It would probably do you good to take the time to find out some real statictics,. before you post. Peace.
