I really liked madden this year. there were some things that really annoyed me, and some of the lack of improvements in certain areas bugged me too. but for the first time in 7 years i enjoyed a madden game. i was active in the forums. i was very active in my work with sliders and responding to questions with the community.
...then nba 2k12 happened.
lets jump back to 366 days ago, when 2k11 came out. it was undoubtedly the greatest nba game to hit any consol ever. the gameplay improvements were so noticeable. the michael jordan mode. the presentation mode. everything about the game was incredible and i know it was played for hundreds of hours by not just me, but by many.
heading into this year. 2k had a astounding game. with the announcement that nba elite would not be coming out this year. for the first time 2k would know what it feels like to be in EA's shoes. they are the only company comping out with a game. lets be honest. if there wasnt a lockout, many of us would buy the game with new rosters, and game mode additions/improvements.
but 2k improved presentation, took their already incredible commentary and not only improved it, but added a 3rd commentator in the booth. they added the legends mode and made presentation to replicate that era! they changed up the post game to make that more responsive and add more moves, they upgraded the ai logic. made mass improvements to my player. added my legends. improved the graphics and added more signature style, oh and worked with play calling too. lets not forget this game plays amazing sim basketball right out of the box. not really even needing any slider adjustments.
they did all this knowin they have zero competition.
then i think back to what madden 12 improved. collisons, suction, and added some presentation camera angles. the line play left untouched, the passing game is stale with no trajectory, psychic dbs and super linebackers still exist, franchise mode added new thigns, but its still way to easy to trade for players and draft talent and have an amazing team in 3 years. oh and commentary for madden back on ps1 is better in every aspect then the commentary on madden 12.
every year with madden its the same, wait til next year. thats our plan for next year.
and altho i did/do enjoy madden 12 this year. i look at what 2k did with a game where they had no competition in a year where madden hasnt had any competition in 7 years. and i am pissed off.
one can argue that the improvements and additions made from nba 2k11 to 2k12 are greater than the "improvements/additions" made to madden from 06-12.
although it may sound like i am bashing madden, its not 100% like that, i do enjoy this years game, but feel like i am getting cheapened on the leaps made from year to year compared to the 2k series. as someone who always tried to find the good in the company that is EA sports. i am now at a loss of confidence. nba 2k12 in my head shows ea's true colors.
well that is it for my rant/thoughts on what 2ba 2k12 is too me and the effects it has had.
my only complaint with the game is no rookies. i have a jones for kemba walker and want him in my association so i have to wait til someone makes the rosters with rookies.
p.s. if u know any roster for ps3 with this years rookies. hit me up! lol

@ragen.o.saints.....u ur opinion is duly noted, but imma chaulk this one to just pure ignorance.
name 1 game with a "my player mode" where u can play online, cant on the show, cant in ncaa or madden. so stop.
online may not be great, but its better than other sports titles.
association is unchaged yes, but there really isnt much more they need to add to it. may be a few things here or there, but they prefer on getting gameplay right first. which they worked hard on this year.
rookies arent in the game when u buy it, but they are through 2k share. there are no player names on ncaa 12...but ppl make rosters for it.
not saying this game is perfect, but there is no way no how this game is boring. the commentary, the different paces to the games. every game i play is fresh!!
i think you need to re evaluate your stance on 2k12 and tell me which game between madden, ncaa, and the show does it better then 2k12

I saw this happening a mile away, that's why I never bothered to get madden or ncaa football this year. first time since 1993 where I didn't own both.

I thought 2K was a step back this year. The models look worse, the presentation/intro is really lame. I love how the AI plays this year, but that's

Yet, this year I thought EA did a pretty decent job on both games. They're at least as good as 2005 or 2006 IMO. With a few slider tweeks, I can live with both games.
As to NBA2K12, I bought it the first night out, but hadnt opened it until this morning. Was trying to hold off until Xmas. I also had 2K11 and was quite satified.
Yes, NBA2K11 is fantastic. But if I did what you all are saying, I'd miss out on two exciting Football games that I seemingly just bought.
So, I have an alternative plan. Right now I'm on Sept 3rd in both my Madden and NCAA seasons. I'm still waiting for the Madden Patch, so I'm just playing every single NCAA game on the schedule until that Patch comes out. I think that on Sept 8th I have both the season opener for Madden Packers-Saints, and a NCAA game or two. Then I'll resume week 3 of NCAA for that Saturday, and week 1 of Madden on that Sunday. And I'll continue following Calender dates like that up until the first week of November when the NBA season was supposed to start. At that point, I will be playing NBA, Madden, and NCAA on alternating schedules following the schedules and calenders. All the teams, all the games. And I won't get tired and will still be able to enjoy all my games without phasing one out for another. And when my schedules reach the first of March, I'll be adding The Show to the rotation.
So what I'm trying to say, I might be OCD, but I don't have the complaint that everyone else seems to be making.
However, I DO think that EA needs to get their act together. It's bad business, bad PR to see posts like these.
