Anyway I have been programming professionally since before many of the people here were even born. That does not make me some sort of know-it-all superstar. No, but I have 30+ years of experience to draw on. I have bugs in some of the systems I presently support. I really want to fix them. In some cases I have fixed the bugs as it is my instinct to fix the bugs once they are discovered. But they are not deployed yet, especially when there is some sort of work around and/or data fix. You see it's not up to me as to what code is deployed and what isn't. That decision rests with business and management. You guys can argue all day long about why your favorite feature needs to be addressed. The bottom line is it is up to brass at SDS to decide what their developers work on. If anyone of us does not like this, we don't have to buy the game ... next year.

In closing, I cannot help but laugh and think about that scene from Money Ball when Billy Bean is trying to recruit Scott Hatteberg to play 1B. Billy Bean tells Scott, "Playing 1B is easy, tell him Ron" followed by Ron the 1B coach saying "Playing 1B is incredibly difficult". Well I'm like Ron. Writing good code is incredibly difficult.
A part you might have missed is that I'm actually trying to solve the franchise problem. I'm preparing to reach out to SCEA and OOTP, to put together a petition, and to make a real difference here. My goal isn't to bash the developers. My goal is to find out how I can get involved in taking the pressure off of them so that we get a better game, and they still get done what they feel is important.

Maybe you think it's fruitless and I'm wasting my time. Then again, we're talking about a video game.

Tay-riffic, the broken game is making us attack each other.

Look, I'm all for everything working exactly how it's supposed to be but how about the game works fully offline and online first? Then we could fix other problems people have? If we have to choose between correct color socks and the ability to play DD let's all agree that DD wins.

While there are people on either side of the "making games is hard" argument the bottom line is that we're not paying for someone's good intentions. If you want to give money in a charitable way that's fine but once they ask for money in exchange for goods they have something on their end to live up to.

If there are difficult parts of the game that they can't do well leave them out and charge a lower price for the game.

It's frustrating paying a premium for an incomplete title.

I've had some screwy things like this happen too, nothing big though.

- In the trading block screen, press X to initiate a trade for that player but pushing X doesn't do anything.
- Subbing in a player/swapping positions leaves the player that was subbed in highlighted, I don't know why.

Just some small things.

And another thing, why not have the Player of the Game's stats under his picture at the end of the game???
There's a perfect spot for it, seems like it was supposed to go there.

Admittedly, that's where their focus needed to be with the issues online is having.

I'm hopeful and almost expectant for another big patch to address everything else in a couple of weeks.

I remember the trading block initiate trade issue last year, hadn't gotten to the point to find out it still exists. I wonder, and I may be remembering this wrong but, if DH still shows an unselectable need.

That reminds me: when selecting the current game's starting pitchers in the pre-game screen, I recall '16 highlighting the starters. In this year's version, the starters are shown at the top of pitcher lists, but I don't see a clear outline indicating who is actually pitching. Has anyone else noticed this?

Also, I like your Player of the Game idea. And I've noticed the incorrectly highlighted player when subbing / swapping positions. I think I've seen the trading block issue once or twice.

My biggest pet peeve in the trade system is the new bug where the CPU says they'll accept a trade but then tells me they're not interested when I submit it. It's definitely due to money, but for whatever reason, '17 doesn't alert me about a money issue before I submit. The consequence is that I spend significant time putting together the perfect trade, only to find out it won't work.

Nah man, I wouldn't say we are attacking each other. I respect his opinion/enthusiasm and I didn't mean to attack/insult him. If I did I apologize.

We're just both passionate individuals, and want to have the best game experience possible from a game we love. Funny enough I agree with him. I would love to have inseason extensions. I think it's silly they aren't there.

In terms of internet arguments, it was actually pretty tame, lol.

I wish Bill nothing but the best in everything he does.

Not trying to start something here because you've been around here for quite some time and have a good understanding of how The Show and their dev team works, but why do you keep ponying up the cash and pre-ordering the silver platter version if there's a history (i.e. online franchise which I know you are interested in) that you may be disappointed?

You'd figure that some people paying multiple times the cost of the physical game year after year (to either get it a few days early or to dip into a suite of perks) would change their consumer behavior if they weren't totally satisfied with their purchase, no? At least wait until the game comes out to ascertain if it's 'finished enough' for their liking--that would be rational consumer behavior while avoiding the unneeded outrage. If consumers are willing to give a business $$$ before the game even comes out, that business will gladly keep taking it. SDS is a good group of guys, but they have corporate overlords interested in the bottom line just like the rest of us.

There must be something tangible that keeps these people coming back for re-buys year after year. And I think a "broken," "half-finished," or "lazy" game is therefore not an accurate depiction of the situation. Unless people have really short memories about last year and the year before etc.

Digital deluxe for incentives and stubs towards DD as discussed at length on several streams. Trust me no qualms with not purchasing and/or speaking with my wallet as I have not purchased an EA product since the stunt with NCAA basketball 2010

I would love for them to patch in updated head scans for players who have significant head and or facial hair changes. I know it can be done since they did it last year.

Small thing for some people but it kills the immersion for me. Maikel Franco hasn't had dreads for 3 years in a row now.

I read a good article about this exact thing and it was about Mass Effect Andromeda. Basically saying that in today's gaming industry we as consumers may want to think about stopping to pay for a game upfront and see if the game is up to snuff once it's released. Like you said, if we just keep paying upfront then what incentive do developers have to change the way they make these games.

And this is speaking about Mass Effect more than The Show. Mass Effect has/had serious issues for a game that took five years to develop.

I think we need to be more conscious about what we are paying for as consumers in the gaming industry.

That's what I did this year. I waited to decide whether I would buy MLB 17. I decided to not buy it.. yet anyway.

Don't misunderstand me. I like MLB The Show. I think the developers are skilled and driven, but I also think the game has gotten too big ( complex? ) for their company size at this point too.

There's some glaring issues this year I didn't think I'd ever see in an MLB The Show game.

Sorry guys, I get too worked up over this stuff. While I was trying to be objective and constructive, I was getting on Mav3rek7's case over nothing. He's right, we're both passionate about the game. I don't know anybody here yet, so maybe I'll get used to who's who. Didn't mean to trash anyone.

Like I've said, this is the best baseball game I've ever played. I'm glad I bought it because it's a huge upgrade over '16. Looking forward to the next patch.

Thank you for posting this. Being new here and taking responsibility for some less than constructive posts is appreciated.

I have had my fill of paying for updated shiny sht, as much as I do like this game overall. The change, or recognition that a change was needed, in physics is a good thing but I can't imagine buying again and again for accurate stitch counts on uniform numbers aka the exact stockings a club wears while fundamental aspects of the game of baseball are not tended to. Not angry about it, as I know market considerations factor in to decisions, but I will agree with you, completely. Bravo, this post here, me yours, is the Hall Of Fame post someone claimed upthread.

I saw this on Facebook just now from MLBTS. I don't know how true it is if it really is SDS or someone created a mlbts page, but " We are deploying a patch and performing server maintenance early Tuesday at 3 AM Pacific. Please complete all games prior to then."

Well that's where your opinion and mine differ. The game is not a half-baked product I'm fully functioning in franchise mode I'm fully functioning in Road to the show mode. I'm able to play the game now. When It comes to online I know there's a lot of issues but this is nothing new. The servers are always bugged out and have issues the first 4 to 6 weeks of release and that's just something that I've grown accustomed to with this series.

Is it right no of course not but I don't lose sleep over it, for those who play strictly online I feel your pain and would be highly frustrated like you are there is no excuse for it.

But the game for me personally it's far from half-baked I haven't stop playing since release in fact I'm busy playing and enjoying the game on a high-level. While I've been playing the game I've been finding visual bugs and some gameplay issues and have been steadily reporting them to the development team.

And like always by the time they rreleasetheir first big game play patch I expect 99% of the problems to be resolved like they always have been and remember no sports game is ever perfect.
