Check out the latest MLB The Show 17 video featuring more details on Franchise Mode.

If you love games where you can strategize and multitask to build up an empire, you might want to keep an eye on MLB The Show 17 – we’ve found that many gamers, even those who aren’t big sports fans, get a huge kick out of this year’s new Franchise mode.
I am loving the cleaner look and non clutter menu. The franchise mode to me is not bad as current constructed. Other than not being able to offer contracts to players on your current roster during the season. I am not sure where that lies in SDS scheme of things for franchise mode. Because it is apart what the MLB does in real life.
Well all of us who thought we'd get deeper GM stuff when it came to the budget (setting prices and such) are wrong for now, unless there's a menu they didn't show us. Hopefully they did fix the budget so if I actually build a winning team, my budget doesn't get slashed 8% every time I win a World Series.
Nothing mentioned about these coming to online franchise. Hope it got some love. The mode has been untouched and has had many issues since it's debut in mlb14
One of the features I've been waiting for was revealed in the "presentation and commentary" stream. And that's involving situational stats in the presentation, so it now looks like we will see that Bryce Harper is 4-12 w/ 2 HRs and 4 RBIs vs. Syndergaard, for example. Along with the "stadium tagging" so now you'll hear specifically where HR's end up such as Lansdowne St in Fenway or in the pool at Chase Field in Arizona, so those are some awesome additions.
But as far as what's been revealed in the limited Franchise videos, I haven't seen anything that excites me at all. Scouting and drafting looks the same and I felt it needed a complete overhaul. And the actual depth of the off-field stuff in Franchise appears to be somewhat the same. The menus and overview look a lot cleaner. And "critical situations" is a welcome addition but not good enough to be the headline new feature. Still looking forward to the deep dive on a Thursday but I have lowered my expectations based on what's been rolled out thus far.
Regardless, I'll play the hell out of this game. Because it's still the best sports game made. However, it appears Franchise mode still isn't going to roll out a lot of new features that I was hoping for.
Massively disappointed tbh. Doesn't look like they've actually added anything for people who play the games, just changed what the menus looked like. The Front Office that we were all excited about looks to just be the old budget screen with a new name, while the GM goals don't look to have even changed. Player quirks are the only new thing I've seen, so hopefully they are significant.
Seriously hoping there's stuff I'm overlooking or at the very least they've improved the computer decision making on trades, roster moves and the like, or that player quirks is at least a major addition.
It looks like the same franchise mode with a few things consolidated into one menu and a fresh coat of paint. I am just hoping there are little things that have been tuned like, trade logic, FA logic, line up logic, rotating interleague schedule, etc. Franchise mode wasn't bad to begin with so a few tweaks here and there and I'll be content.
Guys, there is still a Franchise deep dive stream on Thursday. They aren't going to tell us every piece of new info in a 2 minute video and blog article. The stream is there to elaborate on what is new and also show us more new stuff.
Most understand that. But they revealed the big new features coming. There not going to release 2 videos and a written blog and forget about a big feature. This is what we are getting. We might get a few nuggets but not much. Last year on the franchise stream they spent 30 minutes on it and went to the dev tourney.
Game has been red hot the last few weeks with some awesome reveals but this one is a bummer. No additional budget features (ticket prices etc) or a league news page is a real let down
I feel a lot of the new presentation stuff will definitely add to the immersion. Between situational stats, stadium tagging, and the MLB network broadcast stuff. But so far the franchise info has fell flat.
If the smaller details such as FA logic and trade logic are improved then I'll be somewhat satisfied.
