Some MLB The Show 17 Franchise Mode, Critical Situations, Pave Your Path RTTS Details

The official website has posted some MLB The Show 17 Franchise mode and Pave Your Path RTTS details. A lot of it is stuff we already know, but we should start hearing much more about the modes soon, more specifically on March 7, 9 and 14.

With that said, another livestream on Twitch is scheduled for Thursday, going over presentation and commentary improvements.

PAVE YOUR PATH IN ROAD TO THE SHOW

For the first time, Road to The Show takes you beyond the walls of the stadium with Pave Your Path.
Take your character on an epic odyssey through the world of a professional MLB player. Control your career and write your own Hall of Fame story both on and off the field.
Interact with coaches, managers, representatives and more as you make off-the-field decisions that can affect your career in unpredictable ways.
CHOOSE WISELY. Anything is possible on the Road to The Show, but nothing is promised.

FRANCHISE MODE - MORE CONTROL, LESS TIME

Make your moves and plan your perfect strategy as you take control of an entire MLB franchise. Choose what tactics to employ and where. Take over Coaching, Player Development, and GM duties. Or easily have your staff auto manage them with the flick of a toggle.

FRANCHISE LAUNCH PAD PUTS YOU IN CONTROL OF HOW MUCH TIME YOU SPEND PLAYING AND HOW YOU RUN YOUR TEAM.

CRITICAL SITUATIONS prompts you to take the plate in late-inning, critical situations so you have a direct effect on the standings even without playing full games. You�ll also get prompted to complete statistically significant games like hitting for the cycle or no-hitters.
QUICK MANAGE puts you in complete control of all managerial decisions during a game, while finishing full games in a short amount of time. Jump back and forth between gameplay and Quick Manage and only play in what you decide are the most important at-bats.
IF YOU�D PREFER TO SHUN RESPONSIBILITY AND JUST HIT SOME HOMERS, the updated Player Lock makes it easier than ever to pick a player on your team and play short Road to The Show style games in Franchise Mode.

I'm definitely excited for "Pave Your Path" in RTTS...But I'm curious how it's going to work for those of us who want to carry over our '16 career onto '17. Are we going to miss choices/scenarios that we'd experience if we had started a new career in 17???

And about Franchise mode, I really hope they brought back owner mode! The last version of the show to have a full owner mode experience was MLB 12. Either way, 17 looks amazing!

lol same here not an hour goes by without thinking about MLB The Show 17.

I was working today with a friend of mine who is a huge The Show fan as well, and we talked about the streams and what not for our whole 9 hour shift... Needless to say, we're pretty ready to get this thing going!

Now to convince my wife to play the Kingdom Hearts remake, which comes out the exact same date as The Show, on her computer monitor so I can have the 4K TV... lol

that'd be really disappointing if you can't carry over a player from 16 and do the pave your path stuff. I just started the 2020 season with my shortstop of i've been playing with since 2014. I'm trying to finally hit free agency lol, never simmed a game.

I mean I would expect to miss out on the stuff that rookies do if i don't start a new player but i hope there's something for people who import players too.

Yeah, there is a middle ground though... Progressing on and off the field would add immersion but only if the choices you made when being interviewed or away from the field impacted the storyline... 2K's career mode last year was the most ridiculous thing I've ever played, and this year - while better than last year's **** show - still gives you little-to-no control over what happens to your character. All the bells and whistles like the MyCourt, the phone for texts and social media, the billboards, and endorsement deals are all cool but when they get so repetitive and you have no control over them, it just seems like untapped potential for the mode.

While we're talking about 2K, if The Show released an app where you could scan your face into the game like 2K did, I'd be soooo happyyyyy

Okay, as probably the only guy on this entire website that considers Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 6 and 7, and EarthBound four of his top ten favorite games of all time, I am LOVING this short-and-sweet ad campaign.

...What? Not every game I play has to be realistic.
I adore Gurren Lagann too, but that doesn't mean I want giant robots in The Show.

Pics look like exactly what I was hoping/expecting. Not some over the top 2k movie. Just something to add more immersion

Being that this RTTS player is in the minors I'm sure that the locker rooms/clubhouse will look differently in the majors.

Also all the shots are of AA players maybe there is a small difference in the AAA locker rooms or not.

I like how they actually give the manager's surname.

NBA 2K doesn't dare do that. It's always a nameless generic assistant coach.

And this is from a guy who's bought the last seven 2K games.

That 2k coach likes to steal the real head coaches job he beats them up and then locks them in the janitors closet for the rest of the season. Then he is obsessed over your player and follows you like a crazy stalker to whichever city you go to you can't escape him.

Gurren Lagann is one of my favorite animes! I've got the figures, wall scroll and posters to prove it!

Sorry to bring up NBA 2k again but their MyCareer claims to be a Sports RPG but I don't really see it at all it has a couple elements sure but as an actual RPG I don't think so. This guy made a good argument on here why it's not
RPG Fans - How does MyCareer stack up to other RPGs?

Will Pave your Path really be a sports RPG?

I'm only a few months into my RTTS--but I am itching to play, but feel it's pointless, as I am sure the smart move would be to start fresh w/ the PYP coming with this year's game?

I'm curious as to how it will affect those RTTS carry-overs?

I mean if you're expecting NBA 2K my player type stuff you're being quite optimistic

It's their first time trying this so I'd give them a little bit of slack, it's a step in the right direction and I'm loving the fact that it's finally happening. Something ive always wanted was more off the field stuff to make it feel more connected (if that makes sense). Next year and year after will be improvements I'm sure but this is the stepping stone to something potentially amazing.
