The Golf Club 2 News Post

GameInformer has posted a new developer trailer for The Golf Club 2, giving fans a glimpse of the revamped course creator, online competitions and more.

They have also posted an interview with producer, Shaun West, answering questions on Societies, new tempo swing, course creation, and much more.

How does the game handle bringing your offline Society online? Does the entire Society (clubhouse, etc.) go online, or is it just the money that transfers?

The only things that carry over from Career Mode to Societies are your earnings and any player customizations that have been purchased. The progression of a Society will evolve as it grows with members and more prestigious events.

When online Societies are playing against each other, in terms of matchmaking, does it matter if the Societies are of different member sizes or have more money in the bank?

When competing in Society vs Society there will be multiple leaderboards for each event. Depending on the number of members you have completing in that event, your Society will be grouped in a corresponding leaderboard. All Societies will be free to complete in any event that's being held, if they can meet the criteria set by the hosting Society.

Read the full interview and watch the trailer here.

This looks great so far. Still enjoying TGC1.

Like what I've seen re: the new creation tools; I really hope they make it easier to build fences and longer bridges, as well as parking lots/roads for clubhouses. Plopping everything one at a time is tedious and inefficient.

I agree with the above post…

If the Rory game had even close to the features of the most recent tiger one on PS3 I think it would've been a very different situation.

The problem is they bailed out before they even finished Rory or brought even close to enough features to make a compelling long-term game.

I don't understand how they make decisions based upon bad sales when it's obvious why the sales are so bad - lack of expected features. It's a real chicken and the egg situation.

Maximum games minimum publicity.........normally for a reason.

Don't expect a big improvement on TGC.

Or I don't know, maybe because they're not done with the game yet? :y14 There has been a dev diary and a pre alpha features video out for some time now.

How does one still screenshot show how little the game has changed?

We are talking 'visually' of course, my apologies for omitting that word.

Everything in that screenshot is the same as TGC with the exception of a better animated golfer & an improvement in lighting.

Okay.....

Is there something in particular you were looking for on top of a nicer looking golfer and better lighting that we could see in a still picture?

Was actually a serious question. Sorry it sounded harsh but I was rushing because I had to run into the office this morning for a bit.

I'm genuinely curious what you were hoping for from a still screen to show improvement. I didn't think anyone was expecting any sort of a giant visual change since that wasn't what most people were hoping for improvements with.

You do know this game is developed by an independent company right? What were you expecting, frostbite type graphics? IMO the rough looks 3D rather than the flat surface in the first golf club. Besides gameplay is really where this series shines.

Yes I do.No I wasn't.The rough still looks like fuzzy felt. And the gameplay was poor in TGC with the exception of putting.

Just an additional note on the Indy studio quote........HB/Maximum games are pricing this in the AAA price bracket so for me to expect some visual improvement is not to much to ask.......wouldn't you agree?

Since when is $29.99 AAA pricing? That's what the game originally cost. The second one will run $49.99, again, cheaper than a normal AAA game.

Really looking forward to it. Improvements in game play is my primary interest but I'm sure the graphics will be better as well.

Screenshot does not do the visuals or game justice.....that is all I can say at this point.

Stay tuned.....once NDA is released, we can discuss in detail if you like.
