NBA 2K17 News Post

NBA 2K17 patch 1.08 is available now on the PlayStation 4. Once we confirm it is available on the Xbox One, we will update this post.

UPDATE: The patch is available now for Xbox One (2.7 GB)

UPDATE #2: Just got clarification, for those asking, 1.09 on PS4 is essentially patch 8.

Check out the patch notes below.

GENERAL
  • Fixed an issue that would cause some users to sit on the team logo screen during startup for an extended period of time.
  • Corrected a case where users were able to upgrade their MyPLAYER outside of the constraints of their selected archetype.
  • Fixed an issue that was preventing offensive strategies from running properly during gameplay.
  • Difficulty level for MyTEAM Play With Friends games has been changed to All-Star.
  • Fixed a case where some Grand Badges were incorrectly negating the effectiveness of other Grand Badges they should not have.
  • Addressed a hang that could occur during a Park After Dark event when leaving and re-entering the event.
  • Fixed a case where certain users would not appear in a MyCOURT owner’s “In MyCOURT” list, making it impossible for the court owner to kick them from the court.
  • In MyPARK, users will now have the default camera settings for their chosen camera angle, and will still be able to select the camera of their choosing.
  • MyPLAYERs are now able to attain an overall rating of 99.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves unless noted otherwise.

loose ball? well now you will slide on a HARDWOOD, CONCRETE SURFACE like you are celebrating a goal on NHL 17.

LIKE WTF?

don't even get me started on how defensive stopper nowadays sucks and choses when it wants to active...m
So many times I go for the pass interception at the perfect time and get stuck in some grab ball animation then my opponent gets an easy bucket. Pick pocket is a joke, I don't spam square/stick but one swipe and it's an automatic foul or when I manage to get a loose ball it immediately teleports back into their hands. You'd think having the LDD grand badge activated would make things a little easier, nope, still getting my ankles broke when I'm not moving. My LDD would be my favorite char if I could play like I should.

2K can't even get the arena stadium correct for the all-star game. The all-star court is still in Toronto (Raptors) and still the 2016 all-star dorna exist. 2K FIX YOUR GAME WE GAVE YOU OUR MONEY, COME ON NOW!!

Well uh, if he makes the first open three, then start playing him closer because he more than likely invested attributes into his three ball, making it a 60, which is, in this 2k, serviceable.

Don't complain, just play closer. With a 60 three pointer, all you have to do is breathe in their general area, and it'll more than likely be a miss.

Stop thinking everyone is supposed to be a one-trick pony in this game. "Oh, if I take away the ONE THING they're supposed to do well, then they should be nothing more than a body on the court! WTF 2k!" Some players have skill outside of their archetype, it's just that simple.

If you think rebounding specialists should be able to shoot 80% on 3s, you're part of the problem that has turned this game into an arcade jokefest.

Sagging off bad 3 point shooters should be a viable tactic, but the game over rewards being open to a ridiculous degree. I had Brian fking Grant who has a 25 rating for open 3s hit 3 three pointers (one fading away) on me last night because I told my PF to gap him.

This year's programming is broken in so many area's it's not even funny at this point, and zero attention to gameplay in this patch just reinforces that 2K don't care.

It's crazy, i've been a life-long 2k fan and i've been known by my friends to at times make excuses for 2k, to tell my friends that it'll get better, that the developers are listening and crafting a better game every year...but after that, i had nothing to say.

All summer pre-release, we heard "archetypes are going to matter/make a difference" etc. etc. but it's obvious unless this game is bumped to harder difficulties archetypes play beyond their intended skills...smh.

I'm just disappointed because Pro-Am is widely claimed to be the antithesis to the arcade style gameplay of the park -- it's supposed to be SIM. But obviously that's not the case...idk at this point i'm just disappointed this hasn't been addressed or even looked at yet.

And it's not like 2k doesn't know this part of their game exists, they do! I'm sure they're aware of all these out-of-position players shooting like Steph but...they want to keep their game welcoming for everybody...i just don't understand then, the need to create archetypes this year. IF EVERY ARCHETYPE CAN SHOOT, WHY NOT JUST LEAVE THE CREATED MY-PLAYERS AS IT WAS LAST YEAR WHEN EVERYONE HAD BASICALLY A 99 IN EVERY RATING CATEGORY....SMH.

EXACTLY! Sagging off should be a viable strategy for inconsistent shooters. We assumed he had 55-65 3 pt, but that still doesn't warrant him making 8 3's like he's Ray Allen in his prime.

Tbh, if this game was SIM as it constantly declares, that man would of at most made 2-3 3's out of 10. And of course, defending that, we could've lived with that.

No, the PROBLEM is people whining all year long about every other freakin' archetype until 2k had to come up with all these patches and shooting adjustments. Which is one of the reasons why I knew this archetype crap would be a failure to begin with. You ever think Dimer is helping him out, along with all of the appropriate measures to ensure he can spread the floor a bit?

A 60 rated three is serviceable. If he hits ONE three, then guess what? Close the darn gap. Why is that such a hard concept? I HAVE a LDD, and I can tell you that they aren't always consistent from 3 every freakin' game. But guess what? If I'm open in the corner with the appropriate badges and hotspots, then if you choose to leave me open, that's YOUR problem, not MINE.

So what, a Slasher should be able to do literally nothing but go to the rim? A LDD should be able to do literally nothing but play defense? A Glass Cleaner should be able to do literally nothing but rebound? Come on.

Your argument will start making sense as soon as my Playmaker starts grabbing 8 boards over the top of a glass cleaner every game.

8 Patches in, over half way through the season, half way through this games life cycle, and 2k hasn't fixed a single game play issue!
They made attempts at fixing shooting and it failed. Shooting is still broken along with hundreds of other things.

Every time 2k puts out a patch, something gets broken. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but since this patch came out I have been unable to join friends in park or get put in the same pro am walk on game with friends.
I'm still receiving upgrades from practice after I'm a 95. 2k claims that I'm the problem, that I'm in some way cheating or violating a terms of service agreement.
Your game is broken, your servers are garbage, and you have no idea how to fix your unfinished and broken in almost every way game.

Edit: The joining friends in park or getting into pro am with friends went back to normal, meaning that it works, sometimes.
So, so far, I haven't found what this patch broke. This might be the first patch that didn't break something else that 2k has put out this year.

Bro you're wrong. A player with 60 shooting rating should not be hitting shots from distance like that. You can leave Rondo open all day from 3, he's going to miss in real life. Go play my GM and see how fast your tune changes when you realize EVERYBODY is a threat to hit a 3.

I've outboarded Glass Cleaners before with my LDD. Not always, but I've done it more than quite a few times. I run with a Paint Protector/Post Scorer/6'8" Point Forward who, a lot of times, outboards Glass Cleaners. It's called possessing the skill to do it.

Yeah, and I learned in this 2k, even before all the shooting patches, that a 60 three can hit. How? By playing HOF MyCareer and having Thaddeus Young hit threes for me.

And even early in the year, I think it was either Mike or Zimmerman who specifically stated that a 60ish three point rating means their shot is "effective", but not always consistent. So you should've seen this a mile away WHEN THE GAME WAS IN ITS EARLY STAGES.

And just like I said in the video, as soon as a defender breathed on him, he threw up a tire iron.

Yo has anyone else played any games since 8 and 9?

I can't say anything for MyCareer, but I played a MyTeam Domination against the Magic, and I might be imagining this, but the defensive rotations, switches, offensive ball movement and overall flow was insane..from both me and AI. Insane in a good way. Plays were snapping to start quick and one possesion thej just seamlessly snapped into screen and movement like i ahev never seen in this game.

Only 1 game, so doesn't mean anything...but yo this was drastically noticeable to me, and on Pro difficulty. Just yesterday I was able to pick out 5 idiotic plays in a quarter and a half...to today's.

Someone play something not on Pro or AllStar and take notice and of the D. Is this all in my head eh?

LMAO @ "In 2K months..." though. I don't know why that's so funny to me.

Anyway, it seems like a lot of people are as fed up as I am w/ gameplay. I'm so glad I'm not alone. Fastbreaks, double teams...It's frustrating because this game could be so awesome because it's only a few minor adjustments from greatness but either they can't fix them in a timely manner or they just won't. It's sad and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It makes me feel like it's all about the money w/ the company rather than putting out the most simulation sports game possible.

Lol let's say since Christmas. I haven't played like I'm use to playing this time of the year. I'd usually have about 100 videos posted now.

I've only been playing NHL lately.

This is the worst 2K I've ever played... Yet i still play it. I'm a hopeless soul. I Come home from playing basketball and i want to play a basketball game. I watch basketball on my league pass and I want to play a hoops video game. It's been pure torture this year man.
